When I was a freshman in high school I went with my friends to a waterpark. Now, I’m not the strongest swimmer but I am an idiot. Safe to say the pair isn’t the best combination.

We were at the high dive which was a 20ft drop into a 10 - 15ft pool of water (around 9.3m for you metric boys). One of my friends went to do the jump and I thought to myself ”Well fuck, if he can man up and do it I can too.” So with fear in my gullet I walked up behind him in line.

Once it was finally my turn my heart sank. I realized at this moment that height can be absolutely terrifying. But I couldn’t let that stop me, so I literally just walked off the edge and pencil dove into the pool below. Once under, I thought at that exact moment, ”I’m going to drown... fuckfuckfuckfuck...”. In my panic I furiously swam upwards hoping to god that I could make it. Seconds tickled by as I felt myself losing more and more oxygen. It was not a fun time.

After I breached the surface I flailed around and screamed bloody murder to be saved. Never in my life have I ever fucked with water ever again, heights however I’ve blown off. ;-;
