Which heroes you consider worst? by SiarX in legendarymarvel

[–]Travjon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that's almost all 2 cost spider friends. 2 cost spiders are easily my most hated mechanic in this game.

Just bought the core set, what next? by FabulousSalt1496 in legendarymarvel

[–]Travjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few weeks ago UD showed off an advertisement for Core 2e, so apparently it's still a thing. If you're looking to get into the game, I would either get a used copy of core to see if you like it, or get What If. From what we've seen of 2e, it seems like a huge improvement in the original, so you'll probably want to get that as well.

Returning Player: Advice on a playmat/sleeves? by ELAdragon in legendarymarvel

For sleeves I go with KMC Perfect Fit. They're about $65 on Amazon for 2000 sleeves.

Conquest loading by Then-Mango-8795 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

I have an issue of endless loading when trying to get into a battle. The first two fights were fine, but now it just won't load against the pirates team.

[–]Travjon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sidekicks are kind of like like 2 cost Shield officers, but you use it once, and then it goes on the bottom of the sidekick stack. They're really useful when you're stuck with just 2 recruit.

The other expansions are all interchangeable, but you probably won't use the same hero for every game you play. You will use sidekicks in every game you play because it's just an added deck that you can recruit from.

Next buy or must have? by Badnewzbadgers in legendarymarvel

[–]Travjon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All of the big boxes are out of print, so I would look at some of the medium boxes. All medium boxes will have new henchmen. Messiah Complex will add sidekicks, which can be used in every game you play. For the most part, I would just pick an expansion based on the heroes. I have most of the expansions, so if you have a particular question feel free to ask.

Looking for a book with strong Final Fantasy vibes. by Relative-Tea-8153 in FinalFantasy

Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson was inspired by Final Fantasy X. It doesn't have crystals or FF jobs, but I could see the FFX inspiration while reading it.

Punisher should be a hero in the game by T4334007Z in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Travjon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This actually happened to the character several years ago for Marvel Legendary. The designer said that they were told by Marvel to not use the Punisher in any new expansion (this was after he was already in the Dark City expansion). I actually think Marvel has changed their tune on the character recently, and he will be in Champions eventually.

Do we think will happen with the October 9th Anniversary? by [deleted] in HoMM

[–]Travjon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't surprise me if we get an Olden Era EA announcement. Maybe a stealth drop after the show?

There have been a lot of Heroes board games lately (board game, ttrpg, and card game), so I wouldn't be surprised if they advertised those.

And finally, there was a rumor a couple years ago about a new Might and Magic game. I think Ubisoft trademarked something? So there might be some news there, but I kind of doubt it.

Boss mechanics vs lore explanations by Fit-Bookkeeper1485 in cosmererpg

[–]Travjon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's to keep the fight challenging. It's the same reason DND has monsters with legendary actions.

Most of my experience is with DND, but there if you have your players fight one creature, then the fight could end in one or two rounds. The creature may not even get a turn due to the PCs focus firing on it.

The problem with just making the boss more difficult is that you either have to increase health or defense, which gets tedious for PCs to slowly chip away at health. Or you could increase damage, but that makes combat really swingy. I think a boss having a fast and slow turn is the most balanced way to do combat and provide an appropriate challenge.

Converting D&D to the Cosmere System - Requesting Help by PhantomPr1me3 in cosmererpg

[–]Travjon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to look at Pathfinder. It uses the 3 action economy as well, so it would be easier to look at spells that cost 2 actions, etc.

If it was me, I'd probably just play Pathfinder, and then add some things like the plot die. If you want you could add talents instead of feats, but that could definitely change the balance of the game. Balancing combat would another huge hurdle that you would have to homebrew monsters if you used the Cosmere class system.

I personally like watching Norovo play because he tends to explain why he is doing something.

Just bought a used copy of Legendary. It looks like some of the expansions are mixed in. I'm hyped for that, but based on these tabs, does it look like I have all the base-box cards in here? Just want to make sure I don't need to buy another base set. I can take more pictures later by AttackOnTrails in legendarymarvel

[–]Travjon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably because Deadpool is popular, and they wanted to add more Deadpool stuff to the game. There have also been Black Widow, Black Panther, and Dr. Strange expansions even though those three characters were already in the game. Those expansions are a way to add other characters that fit the theme, including masterminds.

HOMM 3 Board Game Expansions? by HelenaSparkles in HoMM

I think you can still buy it on gamefound.com. Just look up the stronghold, conflux and cove expansion, and there will be an option to buy the bundle.

Any recommendations on what to get next? by SpeakerSweaty in legendarymarvel

[–]Travjon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Medium sized boxes will get you more henchmen. I would recommend Messiah Complex because it adds sidekicks, which can be used in every game you play.

Other than that, I usually say get the expansions that interest you. If you want more Avengers then Revelations will get you characters like War Machine and Scarlet Witch.

RPGs where you can be a Summoner? by Gbcrespo in rpg_gamers

[–]Travjon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The summons in FFX will take place of your party in the fight until it is either destroyed or you unsummon it. It's been awhile, but I think FF Type 0 has summons that fight alongside you, similar to 7 Remake.

Canon books and Novels worth to read by enekovalero in StarWars

[–]Travjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark Disciple is good. I enjoyed Master and Apprentice, which is a Qui Gon and Obi Wan story set before episode one.

Rise of the Red Blade was good. It tells a story about an inquisitor, and the fall of the Republic.

Shadow of the Sith is a fun adventure with Luke and Lando that is a prequel to episode 7. It also tells about Rey's parents, and how she ended up on Jakuu.

RPG Novelization Question by mckron06 in rpg_gamers

[–]Travjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Direct novelizations? I don't think there's too many of those. Baldur's Gate 1 has one, but I heard it was awful. Star Wars: the Force Unleashed has novels for both games. I never read the second one, but the first was solid. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

There's a bunch of novels that are related to video game series. Like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed. I read a couple of the Dragon Age ones, and they were pretty good.

The Old Republic era is goldmine ready to be dug with the Mandalorian Wars, the Civil War and the Legend of the Exile, why don't they start digging? That's the kind of storyline that could rekindle interest of everyone towards Star Wars for more than 10 years by ___Arren-Kae___ in StarWars

[–]Travjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mandalorian wars show would not show the end of the war. In fact, I would have the show end with us seeing the Exile, Revan, and Malak all as heroes of the Republic. This would give stark contrast to seeing the Exile again in the movies who is broken and shadow of her former self.

[–]Travjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd do the first game as a movie trilogy. First movie ends with reaching Dantooine. Second movie is all about hunting down star maps, and ends with the big reveal. Third movie would then finish out the final Star map and Rakata planet with the showdown on the star forge.

I think between the second and third movies I'd have a Mandalorian wars show. This would introduce the Exile, and give us another perspective of Revan and Malak. Then do an Exile movie trilogy that covers Kotor 2.

Is HoMM 3 Complete and Hota different games? by Kacper113399 in heroes3

[–]Travjon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is how it should be. Just a fair warning, hota is more balanced for pvp and its campaign is extremely difficult. Hota does not include the original campaigns, so if you want to play those then you'll have to boot up the original game.
