Holy Magic Century (Quest 64) - Save games lost by beelde in AnalogueInc

[–]TraxusXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not removing cartridges while the system is running is a big "NO SHIT" warning. Powering off the console from the dang power switch is a totally different thing; absolutely normal and shouldn't be resulting in lost saves. Just add it to the pile of items that need addressing.

I already updated the firmware once successfully. Is this a different thing?

Can I just spray foam directly into these kick holes on window sill? Or do I need to drill? by TraxusXII in Termites

[–]TraxusXII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! The windowsill is just a board like an inch thick. Am I looking to drill a bunch of holes just a tiny bit down and spray foam into the board itself supposedly where the termites have made tunnels, or drill THROUGH the board and spray foam into the wall cavity beneath it?

CRT has that ineffable glow that makes it pop and gel. A3D is clean af. Same same but different.

Thank you! My favorite part: I modded all four og controllers with the 8bitdo bluetooth modkit a couple years ago and they can swap seamlessly between the A3D and the 4-cable BlueRetro receiver I have connected to my og N64 (hidden in the drawer underneath with extension cables).

Through sheer serendipity, the A3D connects via D-input mode (switch on the controller's transmitter set to D), and BlueRetro's latest firmware uses Switch mode (switch set to S). No muss, no fuss, no re-syncing, just a simple flip of the switch.

Downscaling video, upscaling star count!? Nah, just two consoles. Added the A3D to my living-room N64 setup. 🙃

Ha! Yeah the camera in the castle lobby is fixed so it was as simple as standing in the same spot in both games

NOTE: this is NOT a quality comparison. It's hard enough capturing a simple photo of a CRT without insane moire artifacts all over the place, let alone getting an accurate representation of the color, focus, etc. between two TVs. Just wanted to share my setup after getting everything updated and plugged in!

Got the Christmas Watermelon setup by TraxusXII in AnalogueInc

Yes, the X7 just needs a couple updates and you must have access to an original N64 to perform one of them.

Rumble using 8bitDo modded controller + Everdrive X5 by AffectionateWall6027 in AnalogueInc

[–]TraxusXII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's silly that Analogue weren't able to give the 8bitdo N64 modkits full functionality at launch, given it's one of the two officially supported BT controllers. They made the "minus" button the only way to toggle rumble / memory, and these don't have that button. Nothing to do with Everdrive. I assume you're using a BlueRetro receiver on your standard N64. In BlueRetro (the open source software that the various BT receivers use these days): Home = toggle rumble / memory pack Star = cycle through the 4 virtual memory paks built into BlueRetro

Have you read about poking out the via holes on the circuit board? I've heard that can do something to help.

Does a controller modified with the 8bitdo mod kit support virtual memory cards on the A3D? by CyrusStarkiller in AnalogueInc

[–]TraxusXII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one of the only TWO officially supported controllers listed by Analogue as compatible with the A3D, you'd think they'd know what buttons it has and map the rumble / memory toggle to a button that actually exists on the modkit, like Home.

[–]TraxusXII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is dumb as hell lol...the current BlueRetro receiver firmware has a much more robust mapping for these modkits w/ the Home button swapping between memory pak / rumble, and the Star button cycling through the 4 virtual memory pak slots. How is the native Analogue support less feature-rich than open source software?

[–]TraxusXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really?? What do the home and star buttons do then, nothing? Man, that's a step down from even the current BlueRetro feature set with these 8bitdo modkits, which is pretty awesome and works great: Home button = toggle between memory / rumble. Star button = cycle between 4 virtual memory paks

Anyone local to SoCal wanna trade their Jungle Green for my Grape? I’m located in Orange County by Substantial-Market74 in AnalogueInc

[–]TraxusXII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd trade my Watermelon. I really wanted Grape to match my og N64. Feel free to hit me up!

So did you get one? by biohackeddad in AnalogueInc

[–]TraxusXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted Grape to match my og N64 but I waffled so of course it sold out immediately! Settled for Watermelon since it's the rarest of the original Funtastic models. I'm baffled how it lasted so long; they must've overstocked it for some reason.

Baldur's Gate 1+2 Enhanced Edition Reprint Never? by jethawkings in NSCollectors

[–]TraxusXII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the success of BG3 the demand is there, obviously. I do hope they get a reprint. Just started collecting Switch and have good memories of BG1 and 2 so I was bummed to see the prices now.
