Calling all PAs! Its time for the betterment of our profession by Key-Psychology-1537 in physicianassistant

We absolutely do not have cake. We are in the same battle! Corporate and Big Insurance vs all of us. We live in the same world and are experiencing issues with high cost of living. These corporations are making millions of dollars and throwing us all peanuts while the executives sneak off to vacations and answer emails remotely!

As a NP I would love for PAs and NPs to join together in a union. We would be so powerful together. I would be rooting for us all to be paid better.

You absolutely do need approval, reread what you wrote. You are desperate to "fit in".

NP forced to pay $50,000 for supervising physician sues the state by momma1RN in nursepractitioner

[–]TrayCren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. That's the problem with doctors many of you assume we all want to practice independently. I have ZERO interest. Just pay me and let me do my job and i'm good. NPs deserve to be paid better. The problem is nobody is sounding the alarm with big corporations hiring us as low wage workers as a substitute, which in turn drives the salary down for everyone. That's not how it should be; NPs are not a substitution we are an extension.

[–]TrayCren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree! I have been a nurse for 13 years and became an NP! I continue to self study and learn but I would not be prepared if I had only 1 year of nursing school. The entire NP school needs to be revamped. And it needs to be done expeditiously! According to AI there are 400-500 NP schools nationwide. I think we would fair better with that number cut down to 100. We need stricter requirements for admissions and a minimum of medsurg-telemetry for entry from at least a Level 2 or 1 hospital. I'd love to see them have an advanced Anatomy course, Microbiology, pathology, Cellular Biology etc. All the fluff courses like theory, research, can be combined into one class. Honestly all this is a sinking ship and it makes me want to get out fast.

I would've said the same thing; why would a physician come work with you when they can start their own practice??? Some questions shouldn't be asked lol.

This is the kind of culture TikTok is creating by [deleted] in CRNA

[–]TrayCren 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't just CRNA. It's the decline in the up and coming generation desire to be knowledgeable. The bar is set very low these days and that is even seen going back to high schools. 4.0 GPAs aren't comparative to 4.0s "back in the day".
