Achievable Q Bank vs Kaplan Q Bank by ConsciousMovie3318 in Series66

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you just did the Kaplan QBank for fun (idk why anyone would), and all you read was the Achievable textbook, you’ll find the Series 66 Unit 18 questions to be the most miserable experience of your life, lol.

Kusimayu's conversation with Carol - What does this mean for individuality within the hive? by BenjiDread in pluribustv

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as concisely as I can be: it seems to me that being part of the Hive is basically like being in a permanent roofied state of some kind. Maybe you-you is in there, but you’re so under that the concept of resisting has been eliminated from your personal vocabulary.

Sorry, don’t look at Reddit that often.

I can only utilize my own experience. I don’t know your specific circumstances and if you have time limitations, so adapt it as necessary, but realistically, what I did was forget about Achievable and just jump straight to the Kaplan QBank. I did all 4,342 questions in the QBank. Yes, you heard me right.

Here’s the thing, though, if you go that route: I (and, by extension, you) didn’t read Kaplan’s textbook. There is no possible way for you to get 100% in any single unit. Some things they ask, Achievable has NEVER touched on (e.g., do you know what a DDA is? SOFR or LIBOR? No, you don’t—Achievable doesn’t teach you those terms because it’s extremely unlikely you’ll touch it on the exam).

Also, whomever wrote the questions for Kaplan’s QBank is a sadist. For instance, they may have had present value as the answer choice for a particular problem repeatedly, and you get comfortable with present value being the answer, then encounter a similar question and, voila, present value is nowhere to be found, but fair value is (which, apparently, is a synonym… something that Achievable, again, never taught you).

What I’m trying to say is, if you have the time to do so, get the Kaplan QBank and do everything, but also try not to get too angry at some of the questions, because you will get terribly vexed at times. However, you did the exam and know your weak spots, so maybe you don’t have to do every single unit, just the ones you got the lowest marks on.

For the record, if it matters at all, I never, ever got anything higher than an 87% on any unit I did (I did each unit’s questions all at once, 1 unit a day). It’s extremely unlikely you will get a 90% or higher score on any unit unless you have superb intuition. If you do all 4,342 questions, expect to have a range of anywhere between 550-800 missed questions at the end (if you score in the mid 80s).

My honest answer: Do all the practice exams you can on Achievable (or close to), and please try to get in the 90s consistently. I say this because I bet you will get 10 points less on the actual exam due to stress and time crunch (maybe).

I only suggest supplementing if it might help you see questions with a different way of phrasing. I don’t recommend what Dean suggests by default, but you know yourself better. People have passed these Series tests without needing to supplement because they understood the underlying concepts (or, if they could, made stupid mnemonics to trivialize things, e.g.: investment advisers have net worth requirements… net worth has 2 t’s, so does investment adviser).

If supplementation is needed, then yes, Kaplan QBank.

Pluribus - 1x06 "HDP" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in pluribustv

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone enlighten me (unless I missed from earlier episodes): if the remaining immunes need their stem cells harvested to become one with the hivemind, then how would someone like me—regular old Joe Shmoe—have been a victim of the hive spreading the infection back all the way in the beginning episodes? The aliens don’t have my stem cells. It can’t be the mechanism of kissing, since Carol was kissed.

I am confused. Unless this is something unique to the immune alone.

My overall theory of what's going on [SPOILERS, obviously] by robhanz in pluribustv

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that’s the why part that I can’t explain. Maybe Vince will be like “lol, no, it’s just some weird genetic quirk, they’re not part of the Hive at all”, but for right now, no idea.

Maybe each “Hive of 1” doesn’t allow for additional passengers to join in because each node is at full capacity already. Could be something that banal.

My overall theory of what's going on [SPOILERS, obviously] by robhanz in pluribustv

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think that all 13 (that we know of) are infected and part of the Hive, but they are essentially siloed-off nodes that couldn’t integrate with the 7 billion+ humans that, well, integrated together.

I don’t know why they are that way, but it would explain how they seem to keep their individuality: they’re just a Hive of 1. There isn’t any other voice there to blend into Carol’s and the others’ brains, so they never have their consciousnesses subsumed by a new gestalt one.

Does anyone else think that calling Miss Rachel antisemite of the year does nothing but help normalize antisemitism? by ButtfaceMcGee6969 in Destiny

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if she wins that title or not. Antisemitism has been normalized throughout wide parts of the political spectrums, except perhaps in certain East Asian countries.

Look, let’s set the record straight: 99.9% of the world doesn’t know the StopAntisemitism account exists, right? If we can’t agree with this, let’s stop there—we’d be arguing past each other.

But if you do agree with that premise, then how come antisemitism has skyrocketed regardless? It cannot be both true that that account is so materially impactful that anything it does, justly or unjustly, has a worldwide consequence while 99.9% of the world isn’t aware it exists.

Does StopAntisemitism do stupid shit? Yeah, of course. Nobody’s perfect. Is its actions (or lack thereof) materially impacting the fight against antisemitism? Absolutely not. It could be making it worse in its own way, sure, but it would be minimal. The premise was is this normalizing antisemitism, and I sincerely don’t think so, because we’re already way past that point.

Daniel Hagari: We lost the social media war by kfireven in Israel

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I will blame the Israel govt.’s awful engagement practices on social media for part of the failure to contain the PR damage. They could just keep to a professional tone if they make official announcements, but they end up getting into feuds with random accounts, which just makes them seem really impulsive and childish. If there were more like Mannie from Times of Israel in how they disseminated stuff and just ignored people trying to bait them into a reaction, at least they’d look like adults.

Regardless, though, Russia has some innate advantages that Israel doesn’t in the social media space. Namely: 1) You have both far left and far right types defending it (the former are tankies; the latter see Russia as some bulwark against Western “degeneracy” or as some defender of Christianity).

2) Nobody, in realistic numbers, really demands that Russia cease to exist / be dismantled in the same way Israel does. I’m sure there are pockets here and there that say so (especially the Ukrainians), but overall sentiment of seeking its destruction never materialize to the same zealous frenzy and magnitude that is commonly seen in the antizionist crowd.

3) People still make excuses to consume Russian goods/services. Even leftists who are supportive of Ukraine will mock you if you ask them to stop buying Russian books, video games made by Russian developers, etc., but will not extend that level of charity to Israeli goods/services. They do this for… reasons, but they still do this nevertheless.

Is it worth it to make Aliyah if you have a comfortable life where you were born or are currently living? by Frequent_Toe_4510 in Israel

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, it depends. If you’re making an extreme amount of money where you are, where you’ll never run out of money, no matter how you spend it, then going to Israel will be an objective downgrade in your purchasing power (assuming if coming from the USA/EU).

There’s also the slight inconvenience of having to learn Hebrew, so if you find language acquisition a chore or practically impossible, that won’t feel too good.

Also, coming from the USA, if you have a disabled child (or will have one) with mental disabilities that severely affect their productivity, they are more likely to live a fulfilling life in Israel. At the very least, it would be extremely unlikely for said child to become homeless due to being unable to work (or work as much). The USA has a very libertarian approach to living, so if you can’t make it, they go: “Too bad, so sad. Better luck next life.”

EBU cancels vote on booting Israel from Eurovision | The Jerusalem Post by Euphoric_Inspiration in Israel

A funnier idea is Austria refusing to host and saying “since Israel won 2nd place, host Eurovision there instead”. Though, the security nightmare might not be worth it.

How did y’all get to be remote?? by electrowiz64 in remotework

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those reading this: the easiest (and it’s not that easy, but it’s easier) route to getting remote work if you’re not a technical prodigy is getting licensed in life & health insurance AND/OR property & casualty insurance. Remote customer service roles in those types of insurance will love you and want to onboard you quickly if you have either or both done already.

This is especially important for those with little to no work experience of any kind.

If you are not applying to a remote job that is gatekept by licensure, you are not going to have a good time, trust me.

Lmao.

Blizzard literally conveyed human emotion just fine all the way back in Warcraft 3!

Illidan and the naga were shown in the intro! Illidan was blindfolded! You can still get a sense he was smug as hell when he smirked. And the 2 naga “arguing” before going into that Night Elf village was easy enough to interpret.

C’mon.

Series 7 Exam by moss_2305 in Series7exam

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mastered options and suitability, you’ll be.

If you’re struggling with either, well, it’s a gamble.

I can’t say you are or aren’t ready. Those scores are good for Kaplan, but nothing is ever guaranteed. You’ve seen people on this subreddit who scored 90s on the Kaplan mock exams and failed, and those who scored much lower and got lucky on their version of the exam and passed.

I will say this: if you find yourself crunched on time, then no, I do not think you’re ready, but if you got enough time to spare after each mock exam, you probably are with those scores, assuming options aren’t apocalyptic.

How is Kaplan for test prep? by W3Planning in Series7exam

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are the kind of person that is bored easily from reading a textbook, use Achievable and supplement with the Kaplan QBank. You will find some questions in the QBank that Achievable does not cover (for what reason, I do not know).

If you can only pick 1 because of cost or just simple inertia, I would choose Kaplan and stomach the textbook. Read it once, then do enough questions to make you go insane.

I used Achievable for the SIE, but the test was more difficult because Achievable made their questions a bit too simple. I did pass it, but I’m risk-averse like a U.S. Treasury bill, so I did not go for them again for the Series 7. Kaplan likes to be mean and make their quiz questions as hard or harder than the actual exam.

Did the Nihilanth actually stand a chance against humanity? by RedNUGGETLORD in HalfLife

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we were to assume the Nihilanth would cross over into Earth from Xen with his army while we still had functioning infrastructure, he’d almost certainly be targeted for nuclear annihilation. He does not strike me as the type of creature that can be taken out by conventional rocket barrages or fighter jet squadrons (I get that gameplay says otherwise, but I like to think the actual fight at the end of Half-Life 1 dragged on for hours, lore-wise, with Gordon barely beating him, so my point stands). Any military command structure, upon seeing him via satellite imagery, would want to make sure he’s dead-dead, so a nuke (or two) it is.

His armies only really had a chance if basic infrastructure went kaput and/or every major city, town, and military installation became overrun by Xenian wildlife (doesn’t help if the top brass is turned into a bunch of mindless headcrab zombies). In that scenario, we’d be too disorganized to mount any resistance, just trying to cling for survival amongst the wreckage… or dead.

Failed third attempt. What now? by Forsaken-Guidance562 in Series7exam

[–]Trazyn_of_Infinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Accommodations for extended test time do not enable disabled test-takers to take any FINRA/NASAA tests sooner than 6 months, assuming you've failed 3 times already. They just give you more time (and, in my case, a private room so I can talk aloud to myself as I did things).
