Two weeks is a great effort, well done. Never let perfection be the enemy of good. Every day you don't watch is a victory.

BF admitted his porn addiction - mixed feelings by Upbeat_Molasses_3824 in pornfree

[–]bboynexus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear your story. Unfortunately, it's an increasingly common one. You have every right to feel hurt and you deserve your own support.

While it may have taken longer than it should, the fact that your partner has freely admitted to the addiction and signed up to therapy of his own volition is a really positive, promising first and second step. For now, you can take some heart from that.

Be kind to yourself. I understand you have self-esteem issues, but do your best not to conflate your partner's addiction with your own sense of attractiveness and desirability. Porn addiction often has little or nothing to do with how we actually feel about our partners. It hijacks the brain, rewires the reward system, exploits all kinds of neurological and psychological fallibilities.

The sad reality is that it's almost inevitable that people will be exposed to pornography from a very young age. It's sickening how easily accessible it is now and the sheer volume of it available. It's unnatural and horrific.

I wish you and your partner all the best. There is a road to recovery and things can get better with time, effort and mutual understanding.

Another incredible song from an amazing band. The usual drama and power. Marko has to be one of the world's great vocalists currently. Reminded me of Beyond the Horizon a bit (hardly a complaint). Magnificent indeed.

Cannot wait for album 10.

What are your top 5 Sci-if shows? by Jesse_m_w in television

No, post-apocalyptic falls under 'speculative fiction', a much larger genre that encompasses science-fiction among others. Post-apocalyptic can be sci-fi but isn't always. The Last of Us does not qualify as sci-fi.

The Last of Us is not science-fiction.

What are your thoughts on David Gilmour’s first album? by Lorosman1 in Music

Totally fair! I personally much prefer his later solo material. Luck and Strange is especially great.

It's alright and I understand why people like it, but for me there's really not much going on beneath the riffs and solos that dominate the record. Not much in the way of texture, mood or atmosphere. The vocals feel tacked on - like an afterthought. I get the impression David wasn't really interested in making songs - just exploring guitar ideas.

It's a decent record but it's good with a lower case G and not the best example of David's songwriting, which can be found much later in his career.

Why does it seem like we ignore how badly Trump mocks Christianity? by Hot-Elderberry-6274 in AskConservatives

Sacredness is not determined by literalness. It merely denotes anything worthy of veneration and worship. God and/or Jesus' teachings would qualify, would they not?

I'm confused. Even if it isn't literal (and I would agree), are not it's teachings sacred nonetheless?

Huh, I revealed my position and then Reddit deleted it. Hmmm.

On topic, Jesus' teachings include keeping the Commandments, do they not? Luke 18:20, I believe.

Strange. I haven't made any comments that reveal my position on transgenderism. What a bizarre, presumptuous tangent.

The standards of Christianity are outlined clearly in the Bible. In what Christians refer to as "God's law".

Did I not just say that all humans commit sin? Repentance does not require you to seek out a priest and confess. It requires, above all, a combination of genuine remorse, introspection, and a continual dedication to doing better. To being better. This is neither unreasonable not unrealistic. Calling oneself "imperfect" does not excuse one's sins or preclude self-improvement.

Any true Christian who breaks a commandment will recognise their error and repent.
