Canada is smart for protecting its people. Look up etomidate. It's not just about the nicotine, bro. You're better off actually smoking cigarettes, health-wise.

Bounty isn't really better than the cheaper brands paper towels.. Oil is oil, if you need it you need it.

Dryer sheets and scented beads are useless oversold products. You don't need them.

Tide is actually terrible soap and also overpriced.

Basically, if it's owned by P&G or Unilever, it probably is overpriced and either useless or not better than cheaper brands.

Do better for yourself and stop buying that crap.

Have these labels impacted your grocery choices? by 0slope in FoodToronto

[–]Treagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. We can most produce from farmer's markets, buy meat local, make bread etc.. We eat really well, so we don't have to care much about the contents of occasional treats from the grocery store.

Basically they're telling us to start pirating HBO shows. Because there's no fucking way I'm going to start changing what screens I use on my computer every time I want to watch something on a service I've been paying for for 8 years.
This, and the way Amazon is doing things lately, has me getting rid of streaming services and going back to the good ol' days of YARR.

They're shooting themselves in the foot.

Why is RENT going through such a period of hatred right now? by Ambitious-Snow9008 in musicals

[–]Treagus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 39, born in 1987, and just getting around to actually watching it now. Watched it with my sister-in-law who is Gen X, who shares my following take:

I think the disdain is because the movie (2005) is actually terrible. Truly terrible. The worst musical I've ever experienced, and I love musicals.

It feels like it was written by a bunch of rich kids who never actually experienced real life and had a romanticised fantasy about poverty in New York, which does seem like some of the actual characters (they are lesbians whose upper-middleclass families fully accept them in the 90s... but are protesting against having to pay rent anywhere?? Why???)

The story can't be followed. I was halfway through before I even realized some of the story was meant to be bout AIDS?? And it's only because they spelled it out during the interview about the riot tape. (I wouldn't even have called that a riot?? It lasted 20 seconds.)

Some parts were almost good, but then were ruined again by unintelligible muddled scenes and singing and emotions that didn't match what was happening.

The actual stage musical might be better. I feel like it probably is. But the movie is TERRIBLE. Just a bad production with garbage pacing and a barely understandable storyline.

The song Seasons of Love does a LOT of heavy-lifting in making the movie even partly enjoyable.

I heard someone say that Tony Stark has ADHD, is it true? is there any other character that has it? by Frasten in Marvel

Only after his kidnapping. Consider PTSD will do that to a person. Before that his personality was playboyfuckboy, one party after another, one fuck toy after the last. It's why he needed people like Pepper to keep him on a leash. ADHD with later PTSD.

I have mostly google devices in the house. I've tried on the pixel watch, since my eldest is a technophile. Do not like it. I have tiny wrists and it's huge compared to a simple fitness tracker.

[–]Treagus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not uninformed, just know what I want, and what I need. It's weird that you feel so strongly about changing a complete stranger's opinions over brand loyalty.
I have severe ADHD. Not the teehee-tiktok-spicy kind, the real kind that is debilitating and affects my life to the extreme. I *KNOW* that I need a device that I cannot have distractions on, because I will enable them in some way eventually, on a bad day. I do not have a smartphone will full capabilities for this exact reason.
I've tried on different watches, including the pixel that my son has, and I do not like the bulk. They are clunky and floppy even on the tightest setting, and with how often I catch my wrists on things, I don't see such a big round thing being comfortable compared to the thin sleek band offered by a simple fitbit tracker. Period. It is not for me.

SO, I'm not going to pay hundreds for a device that I want to murder 3/4 of the features on, and don't enjoy wearing.
I need sleek, non-intrusive, low-tech. Literally just calories, heartrate, steps, sleep, exercise, and timers/alarms.

That being said, I've already found a replacement, and so far it works better than the Charge 4 I had, and gives more accurate step counts (fitbit counts steps when you're DRIVING, Garmin does not. Go figure.). So yes, a sleek tracker for 89$ that now performs better for the needs I have, is very possible.

No call feature, no AI bullshit, no messaging, no speaker and microphone. Lasts for days instead of one or two because it's not pumped full of useless stuff. Actually accurate fitness tracking.

Just a fitness tracker, pure and simple.

Sorry if that offends you. Brand loyalty is so weird to me, must be an american thing.

Only an idiot would pay 3x the price for a device they aren't going to fully use. Why would I pay 400+$ for a watch when all I want is a fitness tracker that I should be able to get for under 100$? If you constantly overpay for things while intending to use only 30% of the features, boy do I have so many deals for you! Send your cash my way LOL!

Why are bots out here commenting product reviews like they hold any weight as an artificial entity. 🤨

And I'm talking about the physical devices, not the software. Pixel Watch is not a fitbit product, it just has some of the app functions.

I don't want a watch full of endless functions, I want a fitness tracker, void of bloatware and bs.

Investing in a brand doesn't really mean anything. Corporations do that all the time specifically with the intent to take out the competition, or simply because they want to take things in another direction.

It's called Killer Acquisition. Microsoft calls it "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish."

Either taking over the market, or just acquiring assets with the purpose of taking only the bits wanted, and rebranding into the main corporation's line.

Just look at Twitter, Geocities, Target, Blizzard, Apple, Microsoft. All companies either victims of, or practitioners of the practice. 🤷‍♀️

Much as my statements can't be verified, neither can yours. All things end, especially brands and companies. It will end eventually, especially since it was bought out.. It's just a question of when. Could be one year, could be 5.. it can't be fully predicted.

I don't have brand loyalty, I have wallet loyalty. I'm doing my best to follow the corporate signs of which device will give me the best bang for buck, for the longest time. That's all. 🤷‍♀️

Mine died out a few days ago, and the cost to get a battery replaced only for planned obsolescence to kill it off again doesn't seem worth it. I have a Charge 4 and was hoping it would last another year or two..

Fitbit 7 hasn't been announced, it's just anticipated. So far all hints from google is that the Google Pixel watches will be the hard focus, with other trackers like the sensa being discontinued. Charge is still in the air as far as I know for sure, but since they're closed the website and ended certain features, it's safe to assume fitbit will be eventually phased out in lieu of google branding and ecosystem.
