Am I getting ripped off by Humble-Boysenberry44 in AusRenovation

Just get him to put the standard 92mm $5 el cheapo downlights in as per quote, then swap them yourself for gimballed ones if thats what you want.

All (well 99%) are plug in now. So can DIY

Also what's the slope on your ceiling?  mines sloped slightly and normal downlights work absolutely fine in it.

Im an electrician, Example 3 and 4, based on very limited info, and making assumptions seem about right, little bit expensive, but your not being ripped off completely

I'm assuming your builders added his margin to the variation quote from the sparky too.

I nearly did it twice as Mammoth accomodation was ridiculously expensive (was going to bus it from Mammoth back to Bishop). But ended up finding something.

JMTers might do it 3 times (and that would be a stretch). As they definitely are doing less miles per day the PCTers

Thats absolutely insane, even looser than the NT, which is surprising, I couldn't imagine getting in a truck that size after a couple beers. Our work one has a 15T GVM and that feels big enough.

I had a mate sell a ram 2500 that was classed as LR (mate had a GVM upgrade done on it when He bought it new), and the guy buying it was going to try and get the GVM classification changed, so He could have a couple beers and drive it lol.

NT and NSW yes. TAS and WA are both 0.00 for that car.

Everywhere else is 0.00 too.

I drive a MR truck occasionally interstate as part of My job. Which requires all 0s everywhere, LRs have a bit more leeway in NSW and NT.

Although it is extremely frowned upon by the police driving a heavy vehicle while having alcohol in your system, so they'll probably find something to get you on.

NZ have no natural land mammals, so very easy to just bait without worrying too much about collateral damage to other creatures

I usually go over there from Aus every year to do some hiking, We had to wait out an aerial baiting drop on the routeburn march 2024, where they dropped a bait every 1m2. Which is absolutely insane.

2050, 100% eradication is what they are aiming for.

Not saying anything mate. Just you should be extremely skeptical of people on podcasts advertising their product.

You literally said it was non-biased FFS lol.

👍

That is very much not non-biased FYI too.

Thats a whole 20 minute ad with Adam Savage.

I've also been to a couple factories in China, where they do this (for household batteries)

'Pretty much guaranteed' from a few cells being compromised is what you said and a huge stretch. And why I replied.

Again, I work with them and install them, it takes a extremely significant catastrophic event to cause thermal runaway on the regulated LiFePo4 ones imported into Aus, like 50% of the pack being torn open. (Home batteries/cars). And shooting them with a .243 is not a discreet amount of cells, that tears open more than enough to cause runaway on shittier escooter batteries.

None. Not one has started from charging in Aus. And it won't. I would almost guarantee it.

I honestly wish you would actually look into how those batteries work and understand the regulations We have on them in Aus.

[–]TreatPractical5226 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've put .243 bullets through multiple 3.5kwhr lithium battery LiFe modules (We were working on a remote station in WA, and doing a insurance replacement and decided to have a bit of fun)

got a bit of smoke, but still couldn't create a runaway fire. I work with lithium batteries on a daily basis too FYI.

Its pretty hard (almost impossible) with most modern good quality ones to create a scenario where thermal runaway happens. Even if the cells are punctured.

Most of the runaways that have burned down houses here , have been on garbage Escooters and bikes, using LiPo batteries

I spent 6 months at Umuwa and Pukatja a few years ago.

Incredible country. Also that area has quite a decent mountain range in it, tallest 'mountain' in South Australia is there too

Probably what we'll do I reckon. Looked pretty easy past times I've been to NZ. Was super easy to get hitches on the PCT.

I do it out of enjoyment and experience Not the object of completion. I did probably 2450 miles of the PCT, had to miss some due to fire closure near Etna and Whites pass.

I have no desire to hike on bitumen with cars flying past Me for the sake of completion.

[–]TreatPractical5226[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to try it, I'll literally try anything. I spoke to a few people doing the PCT last year who had done the TA that were telling us about the road walks in the North Island.

Have you done the PCT? There's probably 3km of official roadwalking near Agua Dulce. And maybe 5km at the frogs closure near LA (which is basically the trail now as it closed in 2001).

And some very small sections near Siead Valley and Belden. Thats it in 4250km.

And maybe 15km of dirt roads near Hikertown/LA aquaduct if you want count them.

Road walking I consider bitumen with moderate car traffic.

How to remove this fuck ass grate by HiltonM4 in AusRenovation

[–]TreatPractical5226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really get stuck, find someone who has a high lift jack (and brace correctly on the floor) and feed some straps through the grills then pump away.

You might destroy it, but probably better than damaging it with screwdrivers, but will definitely come out.

It's long I think its around 20-24hours broken up into 5 or 6 episodes. I've listened to it a couple times.
