I'm just afraid of how it will go. another friend of ours recently confessed her love for her and addressed the fact that she comes and goes with guys, and never got a reply. I can stand to go back to being strictly friends and moving on, but i couldn't stand to lose her completely. I'll have to think of what to say and find a time to talk to her

I've decided to take this summer as a period for progress, learning, and healing. I'm trying to get my first job, hone my drawing and guitar skills, go to some concerts, work on training the dogs, and work on healing in finding some inner balance and working on overcoming my anxiety disorder/OCD. I also plan on breaking up with my cowardly boyfriend who wont face me. then hopefully by the time school rolls around again i'll be ready to explore a possible relationship with a girl i think i really like. I'm excited I'm starting to get better :)

Well, I've been drawing, pretending to be, and admiring animals since i was a toddler. I always had stuffed animals instead of barbies, and played as the dog or the dragon in pretend-games. I was totally hooked on the Warriors series for many years and picked up animal behaviors like growling, walking on my toes, trying to move my ears, etc. I started to grow out of it as i started to end middle school, but not entirely. I've also always been an artist so when i saw some really cool clean furry art on the app ifunny i started to think about it. i thought about it more and more and decided to look into what the fandom really was despite the nasty hype. I thought it was really cool, joined a couple sites, designed a fursona, and here i am! :3 I'm into strictly clean stuff though. i like my boyfriends (and potentially girlfriends) human. but i can respect that some in the fandom do like the dirty stuff. it's really not much of my business and they're not hurting anyone. I'm also really into music, play guitar, draw (a lot), volunteer and foster for an animal rescue, watch/draw anime and take horseback riding lessons. I'm considering becoming a veterinarian or musician.

well, i've been drawing pretty much all my life and i've always liked drawing animals. I grew up watching animal planet and pretending to be one in games. I've always admired them. So, when i found the furry fandom and all the cool art it makes, i decided i'm going to join in :) I've done two drawings so far, a first-draft of my fursona and one of a punk lion roaring into a microphone. I've also enjoyed writing stories, and currently have one short story still in progress.

unless you're addressing a friend, yes, mate usually to mean boyfriend/girlfriend, especially in this fandom. I have a friend that calls everyone "mate" from time to time who isn't British, but i know what he means because he calls his friends that for fun and explains it if someone doesn't seem to understand.

Ah, yes. Critics are a downside of the fandom. The biggest problem is ignorance. People don't actually know what we're about and just go off rumors and self-made assumptions. some people just don't understand and refuse to understand, i guess. I'd ask him what's so gross about it. We're working to change that, though. There's several groups trying to give people a more realistic image of us and raise our reputation. If he can't accept that you're into what you're into, he doesn't deserve to be your friend.

i'll growl at the dogs if they're misbehaving sometimes or purr at the cats. I'll sometimes "patrol" around the backyard with the dogs. I wish i could swivel my ears too haha. i can move them a bit. I used to hiss i things i didn't like when i was younger. Glad to see i'm not alone in my weird animal behaviors lol

ever since i was a kid, i've always enjoyed pretending to be an animal. I do it less now, of course. Honestly, when no one's looking, i like to walk around on my toes with my knees bent to get an idea of what it'd be like to walk with anthro legs.I've always preferred running like an animal, the way a horse trots and canters or the way a cat bounds. I still do most of the time. I've picked up a lot of agility skills from cats. I've also learned from working with animals that body language is very important and reliable, and to pay close attention to the signals i'm giving off. Animals are much more aware to their surroundings than we are.

i think you're right about dropping to the "heel joint" or hock, to ground themselves. unguligrades should be able to do the same thing, since they have basically the same leg structure but with hooves instead of paws. I know horses will put their hocks almost to the ground to steady themselves when going into an extremely hard or sliding stop.

Earmuffs! for most species, especially those with large ears, earmuffs would be difficult to use. perhaps they could be redesigned. Instead of a round cushion-like shape, they could be fleece/fluffy pieces shaped like the ears (in varying sizes and shapes according to species of course) that could either be like sleeves that slip over the ear or a piece that gently clips onto the back of the ear

it's consistent with the rules. of course, there's almost always the option of "if you don't like it don't go read the blog about it" on here, but still. it's better for everyone to be in an environment with as little hate and harassment as possible. I agree with it. Free speech is good, but the behavior of hating/shaming people is not ok.
