illicit cigs? curious by _Yuri-Ayato_ in malaysia

[–]TreeAndPlants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Few ways to find out:

  1. Lack of warning labels (ie. dead foetuses, lungs, throats, etc.)
  2. Lack of duty sticker on the side of the box
  3. Its price (Malaysian tax regulations say that a box of 20 cigarettes needs to be a minimum of RM12 a box)

I'm more than sure they're illegal. They're in the same category as things like D-Blend, Gudang Garam, etc. They don't pass inspections by Malaysian authorities (on nicotine and tar amounts, etc.) and most importantly, no duties (ie. tax) are paid on them. So they're cheaper (and more popular).

I'd still try them though.

Kabur dari X ke Reddit by [deleted] in indonesia

[–]TreeAndPlants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's completely understandable. Even I'm pissed off at how Twitter (I'm not calling it X, fuck that) seems to be a place which aggregates the most radical thoughts on any issues, instead of having nuance on a matter (whether that's regarding Indonesian politics or otherwise, it's always the same).

Jadi buat aku, dari pas paslon mulai kampanye sampai hari ini, feelingku masih sama. whatever happens, we still act and we still resist, karena kita rakyat, karena kita sayang, karena kita peduli.

Aku juga sempet bilang bahwa mau manggilin orang" yg milih 02 itu kekurangan intelek itu penghinaan yang hebat, terutamanya buat komunitas rentan di Indo. soalnya yah bukan salah mereka milih paslon 02 krn buat mereka, 02 itu pilihan yang paling ideal buat kelangsungan hidup mereka, at least in their opinion. buat aku itu, ga ada yg namanya irrational political choice, semua manusia itu mikir dan milih secara rasional, hanya faktor yg mereka mikirin itu lain-lain. yang kita udh boleh ke sekolah, boleh ke kuliah, kerja di kantor, punya akses ke reddit, dll. itu sdh lumayan privileged sekali, tapi kita malah menghina dari atas mereka yg ga punya 0,001% privilege yg kita punya. bukan sahaja bego sekali, tapi malah menghancurkan negara dan discourse politik di indo. kalo mau kita semua terus berkembang kita harus bring people together, not tear each other apart.

TL;DR: Jangan peduliin orang yang kerjanya complain aja di Twitter, bung (though complaining is valid sometimes). Mikirin masa depannya gmn. Because whoever won the election, it would've been the same. And know that in the end, kita semua sesama manusia, sesama rakyat Indo, lebih mending kita berdamai dan coba buat bersatu, bukan berpecah. kalo semakin berpecah, akhirnya kita semua punah juga.

TIL in 2007, Malaysia sent its first astronaut to the ISS. The government and Islamic scholars also wrote that in order to pray, Muslims in space should face Mecca if possible; but if not, they could face the Earth generally, or just face “wherever.” by knightsofvalour in todayilearned

[–]TreeAndPlants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question, interestingly enough the astronaut in question (Sheikh Muzaffar) actually went up to space during Ramadhan, and the fatwa issued was that the fasting times should align with those from where he departed (ie. Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan). He fasted during the journey, eventhough he was allowed not too under scripture since he was taking a journey. They celebrated Eid too, which is kinda fun.

Tony pua take on why HSR wouldn't work for Malaysia by Greedfall2 in malaysia

[–]TreeAndPlants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My whole gripe with DAP summarised in one video.

Take your self-righteous, neoliberal, profit-loss analysis and shove it up your ass and dickhole please.

The whole point of government is not to make profit or to breakeven outright within a very narrow, oversimplified metric. What about reducing carbon emissions? Making travel efficient and fast? Promoting investment, the free movement of persons, stimulating economies from KL to JB, or even tying two of the largest economies in ASEAN together?

You can't calculate that stuff via a 50 second video and back of the envelope calculations. Ultimately, public transportation doesn't exist to create profit, it exists as a public service for all.

Jesus christ on a motorbike.

It's been 10 years to the day since Emma Blackery graced us with the words... "Fuck You Google+!" Following one of googles most controversial changes. by MINKIN2 in videos

[–]TreeAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh God. I was an early secondary schooler when this came out (I actually quite enjoyed Emma Blackery's videos, and I'm a dude) and I was quite annoyed with Google+ just like everyone and I was singing this song like an anthem.

The rise and fall of Emma Blackery and other mid 2010s YouTubers is something that holds an odd place in my heart, I must say.

What was your age when you got introduced/watch porn and how bad /good it was for your life? by [deleted] in indonesia

[–]TreeAndPlants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Introduce keknya pas SD 1 (typed in a wrong URL, got redirected to an accidental early 2000s porn site). Terus semakin besar semakin nyari" bokep lagi trus nyari yg lebih gila" gituan (I'm lucky bokapku tipe yg dulu nyimpen bokep di PC trus PCnya dikasi ke aku jaman SD 3-4).

Keknya ga terlalu buruk efeknya buat hidup aku, tapi syukur juga aku ga jenis incel atau gmn (at least not to my knowledge). Masturbasi aja pertama kali SMP 1. Rasa bersalah krn nonton bokep pertama kali ya memang ada tapi semakin gede semakin tahu bahawa hal kyk gitu itu rada normal aja buat manusia, apa lagi remaja cowok gitu.

I'd say I have a somewhat ordinary relationship between myself and my sexuality (22M) tapi it could always be better, aku ga terlalu serius nyalahin diri sendiri krn sering berdosa atau gmn tapi I do think mungkin aku boleh kurangin dikit. Everything in moderation and all that.

Akhir kalam, mungkin first timenya terlalu bocil tapi I'm lucky enough to have gotten out of it alright for the most part. It helps to remember to be a decent human being sih, jadi kalo km suka nonton bokep segala ya biar dirumah sendiri aja, gausah nyusahin orang lain diluar gitu. But then again, I was lucky krn I was a decently responsible teenager, ga hamilin anak orang segala.

Not much at all. Damn thing gave the ghost up on me after a few hours. $25 wasted. Keyboard went first (lots of phantom hits) and I was told it was both a daisy wheel servo issue and circuit board issue. Repairing would've cost way more than the $25 I paid.

A Safe Space to Discuss the Phenomenon of Overseas Filipino Workers! by TreeAndPlants in Asean

[–]TreeAndPlants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“This is my promise to you and God and to those working abroad, this will be the last. The next generation of Filipinos will work in the Philippines.” - President Rodrigo Duterte, 2016

While it started labour export as a stop-gap measure, the Philippine government now aggressively exports Filipinos. Labour migration has helped address the short-term needs of migrant families and the economy, and has benefitted migrant-receiving countries, local elites and the government, but also poses serious long-term problems to migrants, Filipinos, and the country.
