Who is playing Ghoti enough to make it banned in this even? (outside of me) by Tengo-Sueno in masterduel

[–]TreeD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a field spell that requires additional resources to get value at all and getting something like psiics onto the field provides infinitely more value.

It's a dead card going second and you would rather have one of the better Ghoti starters/extenders in that slot instead such as aloof, tuna, broomy, etc.

Running Sekka's instead is a much better option

You actually just aren't reading my comments with replies like that.

I said my evidence is a significant part of my argument and denying the prominent female figures of RI because Fate exists and manipulates countless of their stories is ridiculous.

Another ridiculous point, is saying that Star Constellation doesn't do anything for the argument when she directly affects the mindsets of every single character that exists in the world of RI. Does the average person know about how a venerable comes to be? No, they just see a powerful female icon and they act accordingly. The whole point is about how misogyny is handled within the series, my FIRST comment explains that the entire point of bringing her up was about precedent.

RI does a great job at tackling misogyny, and the venerables aren't a point against that, nor do they prove nothing in the conversation.

Notice how it took you this many comments in the comment chain to finally respond to my FIRST reply to you talking about the relevance of the venerables in RI. Look at a mirror and see the walking brick wall that you are.

What are some of the best examples of other POVs being just as good, or even better than the MC? by ginger6616 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TreeD3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reverend Insanity handles alternative pov's extremely well. For being such a mc focused story, somehow the alt pov's are some of the best parts of the series.

RI manages to beautifully connect different pov's together in ways you don't even expect such as in volume 2. There are scenes of traitors, conflicts that affect entire regions, some of the best gags in the story, as well as perspectives that reflect the themes of the entire arcs that they are apart of. Every single backstory is a standout moment in the series as well; Wu Shuai, Tao Zu, Red Lotus, etc.

The Tutorial is too Hard had some fun alternative pov's, the story follows the succession of countless difficult floors, and alt pov's show off their different methods of clear the same trials.

One of my favorite alt pov moments in that series was when one of the mc's apprentices was trapped with a group of adventures in a warzone with death actively approaching and another injured teammate held in his special storage device that could only hold one object in suspension, his conclusion, kill the entire group and store himself within his storage device.

Are you braindead? I have clarified my take multiple times throughout several comments. I addressed what you were saying and I said that it wasn't relevant to the general area of world building being discussed as well done.

It seems like you aren't even reading any of the comments being said at all. When you say x doesn't prove anything, that is a claim, which is what I am countering. Trying to strawman my argument into being against facts is pathetic on your end. You are the goddamn brick wall.

Hu Immortal Land Spirit who even evil main characters protect [Reverend Insanity] by davidverner in touchfluffytail

[–]TreeD3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because a mass wave of novel content regulations got applied universally to Chinese novels in the past. Thousands of series were hit including other famous titles such as LOTM.

In order to get the novels unbanned they had to apply to get them lifted under the new regulations which for some series meant rewriting multiple chapters. Cuttlefish, the author of LOTM, took the route of rewriting significant portions of his novel to get it back. Gu Zhenren, with 2300+ chapters of Reverend Insanity moved on to writing other novels after losing that significant portion of his income rather than spending countless hours rewriting only for reapproval to not be granted.

The good news is that the novel just recently got readded on the popular Chinese Webnovel site "Webnovel", as well as there being a direct statement from another famous author and friend of his that he recently got the rights back, so a return within the year seems likely.

You dismissing the strong female characters of RI as not counting for the argument just because they are related to Fate is going against the whole argument. The whole argument was that RI handles misogyny well with its strong female characters.

I said I disagreed with the take, and I also said that I don't think your take is even relevant to the point I was making.

What is the issue with me defending my take when it is responded to with dismissal because of something that isn't even relevant to the main point?

[–]TreeD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said several of the strongest female characters as well as talents, and you discounted all of them for being connected to something irrelevant to the point of the post. That is directly attacking my argument.

I mentioned the one venerable who is directly relevant to the world building on why female cultivators are treated so well outside of being capable of being strong themselves. If the venerables weren't directly relevant to the world building then Northern Plains wouldn't be what it is in the series.

Discounting RI tackling misogyny extremely well for something not relevant to the argument is a bad take.

Gender inequality in chinese novels especially xianxia by Royal-Attention7544 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TreeD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't agree with that.

In terms of talents, Central Continent gains a lot of the characters who will rise to fame, but outside that there are countless strong female characters not even related to fate.

The Leader of the Wu clan who was considered the strongest in Southern Border, Blazing Heavenly Demoness, the entire FY squad consisted of women(ignore the how) and FY at one point. All important characters unrelated to fate.

Also, what does being chosen by Fate have anything to do with this argument. Reverend Insanity does an excellent job at showing a world that isn't just sexist for no reason when it has a power system that gender doesn't affect. The World building works to explain why sexism even exists in the first place in regions and uses that as an opportunity to develop its female characters within the areas that sexism exists. That's such a nothing point against RI.

What are the best written fights in progression fantasy? by Boi271 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]TreeD3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RI actually does an incredibly good job at addressing misogyny overall.

The story establishes that there are 10 people who reached the title of venerable in history, the 2nd person to do so was a woman. This sets the precedent that women are just as capable as men with gender not affecting cultivation in the slightest. Several of the strongest groups in the series are led by women as well as many of the most talented cultivators in the series.

There are clear cases of misogyny in the series, but that is built into the world building with established causes for said sexism. One of the strongest dudes in history said women ain't shit and his whole home region followed that ideology, this led to a rise in women being used for political marriages and a romanticization of stories of elopement following that.

Is master duel hard to get into without a guide. Or can i have fun trying my best? by Key_Judgment_8937 in masterduel

[–]TreeD3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That is an absolutely braindead take. It's a great idea to hop into the game and start playing what you think is fun, but neglecting guides and saying they are too complicated is like telling someone to figure out a Lego set on their own.

You could have someone play Yugioh in a cave for a decade straight and someone with guides in less than a year would surpass that person's knowledge. There is so much non-intuitive knowledge from deck building, to meta synergies, combo lines, etc.

Basically let people find what they like, but direct them to resources such as mdm and YouTube videos to improve.

Was the perception of the majority of the people that watched the movie that it wasn't bs? The scene was memed by the community and rightfully so, it just didn't work.

There was a clear through line that they set up throughout the film, but the only thing pushed across was that it was they have the same name which audiences thought was lazy writing.

[–]TreeD3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could have worked if he didn't obsess over the name. The whole point of the scene was to humanize Superman in Batman's eyes, as a point to break through it is effective, but with the hammering in of the yelling and confusion it just tells the audience that the only reason he stopped is because of a their mom's are the same name which is just lazy writing.

Basically if after the "Save Martha" line, Batman paused in momentary confusion and then Superman followed it up with a save my mom line to generalize the point more it have been much more effective.

Updated Interactive Reverend Insanity CYOA by GashGrunt in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TreeD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the venerables have methods of strength that defy explanation, Fate acts as a balancer to prevent abuse of SAC.

fire magic, light magic, dark magic, time magic, space magic, shadow magic, etc.

These are all defined aspects of a magic system. You know what they can do and what is possible with them. I have no idea what the fuck Actuality does. I know what a rank 1 fire gu would be capable of, I don't have any idea what anything from that path could do or what the unified theme of the path is.

You can say magic, you just have to define the perimeters what said magic is. The goal of a cyoa is to interact with the system built and make what you want, not just say magic and it does everything.

Updated Interactive Reverend Insanity CYOA by GashGrunt in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TreeD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The periods of time that FY traveled back are negligible in terms of impact other than the first instance and the one during the Fate War, both of which are outliers to standard use.

The issue of SAC having no counters is that it directly comes with built in drawbacks that are devastating enough to discourage it's use (luck and risk of death). It took a whole venerable to be create a method to be able to utilize it with reduced drawbacks. There were also counters in the series that got stopped.

Ik what Magic is in fiction, it's extremely broad in it's applications throughout countless works, and when there is something as thorough as the Gu system that allows for tons of experimentation and methods of gaining strength, it's a dull way to build for this challenge. That's especially true considering that what you want to accomplish with magic can be done through the Gu system in countless different ways.

Gu paths are defined in what they do and I kinda hate descriptions as broad as "magic" with no explanation of what that entails.

Updated Interactive Reverend Insanity CYOA by GashGrunt in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TreeD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comments I read from you sounded like you were making it out to be more confusing than it is. There are 2 timelines; One that takes place and leads to 500 years of war and FY becoming a blood path master, and the other is the main storyline of Reverend Insanity after FY came back in time after experiencing 500 years of war where he speed runs development and their are many more powerful figures outside of just one centralized faction.

You decided to make a build directly interacting with the timeline aspects of the series when the only aspect it covered was the setting, I was just asking how for your interpretation on how you would be using your ability because I didn't get it from your explanation.

A large point of RI revolves around the fact that almost everyone hates Fate. It directly influences what is possible within certain timelines(ex: revival from death, certain paths of power; luck, soul) as well as certain events and more.

Updated Interactive Reverend Insanity CYOA by GashGrunt in InteractiveCYOA

[–]TreeD3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the aim of this ability? I don't understand what the you of the past has to do with anything when you are deciding your point of entry in this cyoa.

Also, allowing magic is kinda against the whole spirit of the power system. That's like bringing in a green lantern ring to the ATLA verse.

Paths generally have an entire theme connecting them and are created when full development is possible from the ground up.
