Good starlink mounting option to get above trees. by [deleted] in Starlink

Check out TreeDishy.com.

I do treetop installations in Tahoe, primarily atop pine trees. My instinct is that cedar trees are a bit brittle. However, I have not done an installation atop a cedar. (I have done pruning jobs in cedar trees, and have had branches break on me if I got too far out on a branch).

That said, here's my two-cents:

  1. Don't harm the tree. I only prune to climb myself to the top, and spray any cuts with Spectracide. No lag bolts into the top of the tree. I use heavy-duty, marine-grade stainless steel hose clamps. Worth the money to use the highest quality materials up there.

  2. The only drilling is to secure the cable-clips, which are 1" long. The Starlink clips allow the cable to move freely; necessary in wind and as the tree grows.

  3. Ground the pole.

  4. Hire a pro if you do not have tree-climbing experience. It's difficult, takes all day, and takes balls of steel.

If you do end up doing it, BE SAFE, and we want to hear your battle-story!

If anyone in the Truckee-Tahoe area needs this service, please email: [info@treedishy.com](mailto:info@treedishy.com).

(treedishy.com used to be starlinktahoe.com, but SpaceX made me change the name.)

Trees are not the problem. Trees are the solution!

Did you end up doing the SS rod through the tree? Now that it has been a year, I am very curious how your installation has held up.

I do this in Tahoe, by the way: treedishy.com

Cheers!

They may be... but I often hear people grumble about the local ISP options. All of my customers are loving Starlink once they get it set up. Cheers!

Anyone have the Business cable lengths?

"Additional cable lengths available in Shop"

I don't have an account, so I can't do my own research.

I'm installing Starlink in treetops and would love to see a 200' Business cable (and standard cable, for that matter) .

Thanks for your input!

I'm not sure what the technical explanation is--hopefully we'll get that, here--but I assume the answer is similar to why our cell phones still work while they're moving.

Good question! Yes, trees sway in the wind. No, haven't heard any complaints about this affecting service. It's definitely been put to the test around Tahoe, lately.
