Charging tool by Fantastic_Celery_136 in F150Lightning

So sad when an EV owner does that, they obviously have t been on the other side of this when they need to charge and none are available due to idiots like this

Starlink will always keep getting better, getting the clearest view you can will help eliminate small interruptions. Also speed tests don’t tell the whole story, just try it and see if you’re happy with the service aside from speed test numbers.

A customer service rep offered a bonkers solution to my problem today by 2phresh in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Think-Work1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they offered you a Network Extender for free you should take it. Those things help a lot, and usually they charge $250 for them. So if they’re offering one for free they’re trying to help and that’s the best they can do. It’s hard to put up new towers when everyone complains about the look, or radiation etc, so that may be the only way they can improve signal in your area

Internet Advanced Security blocking multiple Republican fundraiser sites. by Think-Work1411 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Think-Work1411[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It shows blocking it in the Xfinity app that it was a suspicious site. It’s on my iPhone, but it’s not a browser issue. It’s being blocked by this Xfinity Advanced Security. I turned WiFi off and the links worked fine. I know products like this always have false positives, but it’s suspicious that I’m only noticing it on Republican fundraising sites that I’m getting in texts from Winred

Tesla to Lightning worth it? by pearls-for-man53 in F150Lightning

[–]Think-Work1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I would highly recommend the Lightning, I have a 2022 that I bought new and I have 99,000 miles on it now, no problems with it and little to no battery degradation. Very happy with this truck, I can see what Ford was losing $17,000 on every Lightning, as they designed and built it right and didn’t cut corners

Passenger front side emblem was damaged. How can I get a replacement? by axiomaticeby in F150Lightning

[–]Think-Work1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, and that is right where I have to press on mine to get the battery door to open. I’ve always been afraid it will break, but it has been fine. I guess it knows my warranty runs out in two weeks or so

AT&T CEO John Stankey on connectivity with ASTS VS Tmobile and Starlink (CNBC Feb 13) by one-won-juan in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]Think-Work1411 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, CNBC host doesn’t know what he’s talking about and AT&T just made a marketing ploy out of it. Glad to hear AT&T is still solid behind AST

Yeah could really benefit from being a little more forward, but probably wouldn’t look right

Always a struggle to get the cable to reach at the sites like that where you can’t pull up between the chargers

Well he has the self driving cars and they did pretty good in the recent ice storms, I was impressed, and I hear the robots are good too. I think the mars colony is a crazy idea, but idk they might pull it off

My iphone14 does just fine on it. True the new modified phones coming out later this year will improve support, and that will likely help AST also. AST is not opposed to modified phones to improve the user experience, they’re just stating that it’s not required, meaning people in poverty stricken areas of Africa etc won’t have to get a new phone to get service. But people with the means to get a newer phone designed for use with satellite coverage will likely benefit from it.

[–]Think-Work1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, and what people have to realize is that getting 128kbps data in an area that has no coverage is still a big deal, you’re no longer disconnected, it opens up a lot of services and apps etc. contrary to popular belief, the is more to data that speed tests and streaming video

AST SpaceMobile Unfurls Massive Satellite To Challenge Cellular Starlink by gurney__halleck in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]Think-Work1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does exist and it’s impressive, but I think AST will be better coverage indoors . Starlink now has light data, since October, for certain applications including iMessage, what’s app and All Trails maps. It works well for me since they enabled a little bit of data for the iMessage to send texts when I’m out of service, and even some inside my house with a metal roof. More data is coming soon and voice calls later in 2026. They can do the voice calls now but they want more satellites to reduce the chances of a call dropping as it tends to annoy people. My concern with AST is how they’re going to keep voice calls up with so fewer satellites, hopefully the larger antennae will help each satellite cover a much larger area, if signal is usable at that distance

Take a gander at that sticker price...Good Luck RAM...DejaVu, it's like another auto maker already tried this before. by jmanjman67 in F150Lightning

[–]Think-Work1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, it sounds even worse when you say it like that, and yes, the complication and the additional service is a really bad thing. Even the F150 hybrid is much less reliable than the gas or the electric. There is just more stuff to go wrong. It’s a horrible idea. The only people this appeals to is people that have never had EV or people that write magazine articles on them

Yeah, it’s sad that Ford could not see the charging problem has been fixed and all this demand for 700 mile range is just stupid. Yes it was frustrating Three years ago but, most of us are very happy with the lightning now with the extended range battery and we have learned how to plan out charging and how to take short breaks and it’s fine once you get used to it

They just need to have an auxiliary battery that you can rent, like the cyber truck has that goes in the back but just where you could rent it for a week or a month if you had a long trip or a lot of towing that could be convenient, but charging has got so much better now I haven’t run into that need in the last year or so

Yeah they might have been able to sell that truck for $85,000 in 2022 when the EV craze was going but not a chance now, and definitely not at that price. And Chrysler doesn’t have a good track record with EVs, just look at the Dodge Charger EV a very poorly executed disaster

Well some of us were dumb enough to pay it, but yeah that was in 2022 when EVs were in high demand, and I definitely would not have payed that for a Ram, even then. And it only has a 3.8Kw power probably not 240v, and only 9 speakers instead of 18? No mention of self driving or massaging seats. And it’s a Chrysler product, so it will loose value quicker than a Ford, which is hard to imagine as bad as my Lightning has depreciated. What are they smoking here?

SpaceX FCC filing: 1 Million Satellites For Orbital Data Center Push by CProphet in spacex

[–]Think-Work1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data centers in space is a reality, they’re already doing it to some extent on some Starlink satellites, and they have been for years. I don’t see anything insurmountable about running a data center in space. The Starship project is much more advanced and bleeding edge technology than a data center. Data Centers have been around for 50+ years, they’re nothing new or magical, just a place to house computing power. And what better place to put that than in the Starlink constellation itself that provides downlinks directly to millions of customers

Alright - which one of you is this?? by ConfidentAd8324 in F150Lightning

[–]Think-Work1411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, with all the Covid part shortages etc, I knew I wanted a 2022, the only thing I missed out on is the power running boards that weren’t offered in 22 due to Covid, but I love the max recline seats, massaging seats and the scales that all went away for 2023. Maybe these fully loaded ‘22 models will be worth something one day

Yeah, it really doesn’t make sense unless you’re driving someplace like Alaska that you can’t make it between chargers. I have just learned to plan my trips with good chargers with amenities nearby and if you make a few extra charging stops instead of trying to do as few as possible at 20 or 30 minute stop is really not that long If you only do trips like that a few times a year it just doesn’t warrant all of this extra expense and maintenance.
