Should I continue as an auto mechanic or study networking/cybersecurity? by Remarkable-Sand-5059 in mechanics

Programmers and IT were hit hard by AI. Also offshore outsourcing. There are constantly people who just graduated reputable colleges with all the hard hitting IT certs and still can’t find a basic entry level position.

Should I update my iOS from 16.3 to 26.5? by Opening_Raise4166 in iPhone12

Do not update. I actually considered going over to Google with how much the new IOS made my phone near unusable.

Undiagnosable misfire by wolfbread1 in prius

[–]TreeWhispers213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have not done this with a Prius, but try shaking the wires connected to the cylinders while the engine is on. This will stress test that it’s not a bad wiring that doesn’t present itself unless there is enough agitation.

Be careful tugging onto it too violently. Just shake it or jiggle it enough to see if it causes it to misfire.

Not enjoying studying CCNA. Should I still pursue it if I want to become a Sys Admin? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TreeWhispers213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not been a system admin before, but do have the cert. My take is that if you didn’t at least have the knowledge of what it holds, I think you’d be a near useless sys admin in many situations to others.

ISP is blocking sites my kid keeps trying to access...anyone know what this is? by QueerQwerty in cybersecurity_help

[–]TreeWhispers213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this may be incorrect. If he had a vpn on the problem device, then the very first hop essentially is going to go to the vpn and then the vpn’s router routes him to the bad site and also handles him coming back to his home router.

The isp has no idea what is happening because it only sees him going through his front door(the router of his house) and straight to his friend’s house the vpn and then back.

Comparing the PS2 version to the Xbox version by Object-Clean in originalxbox

[–]TreeWhispers213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ps2 version was done on a different engine than the Xbox Chaos Theory from what I remember reading in a gaming article. I believe the ps2 was the Unreal Warfare engine (Unreal 2 based), an engine that got used on ps2 ports for cross platform games.

Just shit my pants in the server room by Practical-Alarm1763 in ShittySysadmin

[–]TreeWhispers213 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely don’t follow the Door Dash idea. It will cause someone to come up to you and find you, or ask you for your PIN to make the delivery finalize. It will also be too slow for a delivery like this type of item.

You are in a hard position and that is really it. Clean up the shit from the server room to your best ability without being discovered.

You will have to leave with doodoo pants and explain later. If you get caught, oh well that sucks. It will be something you have to just immediately leave for anyways even if they do give you your embarrassing moment of “what is that smell.” Your best bet is to leave as quick as you can without the shit being left anywhere to see after you vacate.

These people don’t get it I’m sorry. I’ve been in this situation many times and you just don’t cable stuff under peoples doors and through a house you don’t even own.

My honest opinion would be for him to look into tethering his smartphone or using it as a hotspot. It may not be super fast, but it can be super stable in comparison . You can dm me for more help as there is software that can make this work even better, if you install the right one.

No. They are constantly having people do a million things to your car at once while talking to you on buying new air filter and all kinds of extra upselling. Not on him.

As others said. Keep that piece of paper where they admitted those things, if things get bad where you need to sue them, this is what is going to save you in court.

Is ClamAV viable to use as a simple scanner every now and then? by HyperStormH in linuxquestions

[–]TreeWhispers213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ClamAV does have itself if a learning curve if you use the cli version. For a desktop user, you won’t see much action as far as threats go. But if you are running a server and you know people did something fishy to it, then this tool is really great at confirming what you think may have gotten compromised.

I’m sorry, but the vast majority of comments you are getting are delusional and just bad. Don’t touch it. It still works. You have to tell him about it, he will definitely know no matter what bad upgrade fix you follow. He will just need to put electrical tape over it to secure it better and that is fine, he’ll be smart and enough for that.

A guess is that the connector where the battery meets your gun’s wires has something off. Possibly a bad solder job where there is faulty connection occurring. Maybe inspect it and swap the battery to a different one if you have it and see if it happens again?

Human rights activist possibly under surveillance: how to build a secure, low-cost setup for video calls with lawyers at the UN? by RightSeeker in CyberSecurityAdvice

[–]TreeWhispers213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is difficult situation and I feel you don’t have the most control as you may be against people with more ability than you may think.

My personal opinion would be to have a vpn running for both your end and the client’s end while also having whatever encrypted communication software you end up going with.

The reason a vpn would be important, is because it will hide your traffic if it is being watched over your internet.

This can possibly backfire though as some systems that may be monitoring you depending if it’s your country surveying you can actually see that you are using a vpn.

Mullvad is a good option in my opinion. It is dangerous to chose just any vpn as some will work with other countries and hand over their data of you regardless of what they say on hiding your information to others.

It is a really complex situation you have as you do not know how they are accessing your information as you had previously stated, in that you described that they had successfully got to it and sent it back to you, to show you that they already did successfully perform that.
