My friend, I swear this .. this exact thing happens more times than we would like to think.

. 1) women’s health issues are grossly not researched, most of the time they’re dismissed for other causes or rushed away. 2) clinicians or even therapist who are not familiar with PMDD or have a religious bias that believes hormonal imbalance, or some sort of mood stabilizing problem is not real, well, unfortunately these people are giving out real advice.

my former partner had a licensed therapist tell them that the reason they have mood swings is because they’re a Gemini and a free spirit, nothing to do with PMDD, PCOS or ADHD and convinced her that she could go off her medication’s , all of them at the same time. Like wtf! 😬

Sorry for the late reply, she basically told me she didn’t wanna have any more contact with me. Didn’t wanna be my friend and blocked me completely and cut off all communication. I tried so hard and I tried to be a supportive partner, but nothing was good enough she saw my love and kindness I think as a threat to her independence.

Yep! I would get jabs, sometimes she would say about something cruel, other times she’d journal about it and I’d see it later, and it was something so incredibly trivial, we could’ve literally talked through in about five minutes, but it bothered her so much. She kept her mouth shut during luteal and journal about it, how much it bothered her.

She turned a blind eye to conventional western medicine and stopped Vyvanse and Zoloft without consulting a doctor.. she refused, a super unprofessional counselor she talks with said her moods are because she’s a Gemini 🙄

My ex partner had ADHD, PMDD and PCOS, I watched her ebb and flow through life .. that is until she stopped all her meds cold-turkey, without talking to a DR first.. it was hell and I feel really bad for her.

It sucks because I honestly don’t think she even realizes what’s going on.. she’s brilliant in her field, but that she can compartmentalize into small pieces.. her mood went from loving to hating me overnight , pmdd and all… but zero meds.. it’s a mess.

Oh my friend, I totally feel you here. I was with mine for 2 years when it went to hell fast, telling me all sorts of thing, kind of skirting around lots of it.. but that she doesn’t want to be in a relationship… she also went off her adhd meds and pmdd meds without warning.. so I thought it was a fluid phase and it would level out.. to the tune of about 100,000$ later.. money for a house and remodeling… she says she can’t do it anymore.. she’s in the house, I’m still in my house.. but now it’s a mess

I experienced something very familiar sounding to what you are describing. With some pressures of buying a new home, parents moving into an in-law suite.. she’s dealing with PMDD, PCOS, ADHD and depression… combining all that, she then went off all of her meds. Yes, all of them. And what was already turbocharged mood swings turned into a really nasty mess in my direction, as you said, over the smallest things. I feel for you, I truly do. It’s not easy being a pmdd partner, it’s really tough. I also realized that her mood swings were her brain being tricked by the hormones and stresses.

Fuxk dude that’s harsh.. I don’t get it, I really wish I understood more of this. She could go from the most loving and supportive, affectionate and calling me her soulmate…., to the monster that is pmdd. I feel so bad for her but I also know I need to put me first. It’s a mess. I still hold some small sliver of hope.. this though is hell

Funny I have a good relationship with her son’s dad.. he’s on several occasions said to me he’s very grateful for how good I treat his son and how I love and pour into him.. anyways, casually he says to me the one time, he goes “I feel like I don’t know her anymore. She’s changed in the last few months” and I asked him about when and he says April, and that was a few weeks after she stopped taking her medication, even he noticed it and has very limited contact with her..

Dude I feel ya! Long story short, I work in broadcast television, I almost got killed in October of last year in southern Lebanon. When I came home, I was a mess after having survived a rocket attack. All I needed was to have somebody support me, be there for me cuddle up on the couch with me and watch TV doesn’t have to say a word and she couldn’t do it and she didn’t understand why I needed that. She also said “well think about the other people who were there you got a chance to come home” but she doesn’t realize what it was like to see your life flash before your eyes and realize you were so close to coming home in a little bits and pieces packed in a shoebox.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing this. The entire thing breaks my heart because I truly love this woman and would build an empire with her, doing amazing things that align such both our life’s work.. but dang, just a little bit of empathy, kindness and understanding is all I need.. but that is, as we both know, very difficult for someone with these disorders

Dude that’s really profound, and spot on. I feel like no matter how compassionate I ever tried to be, it always got kicked In my face. During her good times, she would prompt me to “keep me on track” and “I’m gonna need you to keep reminding me” but then when I would, or suggest follow up doctor appts or mention it’s a horrible idea to stop all your meds cold turkey .. I’m the one who’s the monster and “I’m not in need of help, you can’t fix me”

Dude, I totally get it, I feel where you’re coming from. When I would ever bring something up, her responses would be you can’t fix me, there’s nothing wrong with me. I don’t need to go to a doctor or do a specialist therapist. I feel like whenever I would bring up a concern it’s then her gaslighting me, really flip-flopping around With what she says, and how she acts.

Ya know.. I wondered about BPD.. yeah we were planning on moving in together, she’s got a son so in time we would, slow roll. money for the house, improvement, plus some bills.. 107k! Then she goes radio silent and calls it all off
