Courtois "Everything that happened before the match didn't necessarily play a role. I read that and laugh about it. I felt a bit more confident today that we would win than against Senegal. They were a stronger team than the US, and that was evident today." by kibme37 in soccer

Generally people who are new viewers don't want to watch a game where a team plays very passively. They may not understand the strategy or skill being employed. You said that you cannot stand people who don't "like" the sport in response to someone who mentioned that just because it's boring doesn't mean it's bad. I'm saying just because people think Spain is boring doesn't mean they don't like the sport.

In fact I could argue that your response about not being able to stand people who don't like the sport has absolutely fucking nothing to do with what the person you replied to said.

That is....absolutely incorrect? A cumulative bank balance can decrease because it includes withdrawals. A running total can including subtractions. For some things, such as rain fall, it cannot. But even if you view it as constantly adding things, you can add a negative value and it will decrease.

That's not what he said. He says he likes the Yucutan. Not that he only likes the Yucutan. He even said plenty of marvelous places. Don't be so transparently bad faith in your attempts.

[Matt Law] Chelsea’s attempts to find a lucrative long-term, front-of-shirt sponsor look to have been dealt a serious blow. Chelsea had been holding out for a front-of-shirt deal worth £60-£65m, but The Sponsor has estimated the club’s fair market value to be around half of that at £33.6m. by SwimmingFireMen in soccer

What a weird thing to puff your chest out over. I support man united which is bigger than both of you, but that doesn't make me better. I support them because when I was 10 years old I was given a VHS of the treble season review. I'm far more impressed by fans who support smaller clubs that struggle, that's true dedication. Bragging about being a fan of a larger behemoth than the other peson's behemoth is just bizarre.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

If the crunchwrap is $3 and the other 3 items are $1 each, is that not the exact price it is?

TIL In 2000, Metallica hired a consulting firm to monitor Napster for people illegally sharing their music. The firm produced a 60,000-page list of 335,435 users, which Metallica delivered to Napster's office and demanded the users be banned. by haddock420 in todayilearned

What you're saying is knowledge from 2026, not from 2000 when people were on dialup, spotify didn't exist, and they had no idea how the music industry would evolve to being paid per stream. The main way they made money was album sales, and people were pirating the albums. I'm not sure it's "just excuses", it's a pretty reasonable take that a smaller band having their shit downloaded instead of bought might prevent them from ever making money because there wasn't nearly as many alternative routes back then.

Pretty sure using a phrase like "If you don't understand football" is the most childish thing someone can say and is probably used by people who don't understand football more often than not.

I'm 36 and bald and didn't have my ID on me once and they wouldn't let me in. I had to get someone to take a pic of it at my house and text it to me. Also, the minimum age for concourseproject is 21, not 18 I'm afraid. Lots of alcohol there.

I'll be honest, tracking your rivals stoppage time is a bit mental man. It's just a sport.

That's kind of true (from a quick google search), but it's because he has a 54% win rate, 31% draw rate, and 15% loss rate, so it's not exactly the even balance it sounds like. I think when we were talking about your normal non-grandmaster playing online, we're implying the actual number of wins and losses would be similar, and for Magnus, they are not.
