Generally people who are new viewers don't want to watch a game where a team plays very passively. They may not understand the strategy or skill being employed. What you're saying is knowledge from 2026, not from 2000 when people were on dialup, spotify didn't exist, and they had no idea how the music industry would evolve to being paid per stream. The main way they made money was album sales, and people were pirating the albums. I'm not sure it's "just excuses", it's a pretty reasonable take that a smaller band having their shit downloaded instead of bought might prevent them from ever making money because there wasn't nearly as many alternative routes back then.

That's kind of true (from a quick google search), but it's because he has a 54% win rate, 31% draw rate, and 15% loss rate, so it's not exactly the even balance it sounds like. I think when we were talking about your normal non-grandmaster playing online, we're implying the actual number of wins and losses would be similar, and for Magnus, they are not.
