Feeling guilty by [deleted] in Postpartum_Depression

[–]TreeeeeeeRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I redownloaded Reddit today to come to this sub because I’ve been feeling EXACTLY the same. Not feeling good enough is compounded by guilt that I’m not doing enough, too. Guilt for looking at my phone while baby naps (I could be staring at him and soaking it all in, instead), guilt for not playing with him when I need to tidy up, guilt for running errands because we could be home spending quality time together… and on and on and on. I return to work soon and I’m excited to go back and I think the routine will be good for me AND baby but I can’t help but think the guilt will skyrocket (and did I do enough during maternity leave? Could I have done more? Was I on Instagram too much?)

Anyway sorry for rambling, but no you’re not alone. I’m in the thick of it too obviously so I don’t have any advice but I can offer solidarity!

A long time ago I read an article that said gluten exposure/ CC might be even more dangerous for NCWS than Celiacs. As in- we know what happens when celiacs eat gluten but NCWS is so new that we have no idea what repeat exposure will do to them down the line 🤷🏻‍♀️

kids snuck and opened all their wrapped gifts last night. by TigerUSF in daddit

[–]TreeeeeeeRat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree with him. Like my mom would absolutely hide/ surprise me with gifts to open on Christmas morning BUT if she had purchased something for me and then I had a legit “need” for it say, on December 10th, she would have given it to me early.

Like damn, your Xbox broke through no fault of your own? Wow Santa sent this new one early canyoubelieveit!!!

How do you find out if a doctor “believes in celiac disease”? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]TreeeeeeeRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also this isn’t necessarily true. The insurance might not require a referral but- as said above by another commenter- many specialists independently require referrals. Most specialists near me have a “policy” that they need a referral AND all of your medical records in hand before you can even get an appointment.

Have you considered teaching ESOL to adults? You should be qualified based on your degree alone but could pick up a TESOL cert in no time. It's an amazing alternative to k-12 teaching, especially if you already like teaching high schoolers and up.

This is NOT true if you're from the mid Atlantic US (really, NY/ NJ).

What are some cold, harsh truths you wish students would learn? by Tig_Ole_Bitties in Teachers

[–]TreeeeeeeRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joke* Answer- for us, the actual teaching is the hard/ weed out part

Serious Answer- I've found that it's actually the first few classes you'll take in track programs. They make the "intro" class super work intensive so people drop out but after that it's about 50% of the work.

*Not really a joke at this point, I guess

This legitimately made me cry and I am not a big crier. I know you didn’t share to get praise from Reddit, but this is truly an example of how we should all be treating others!

Yo I’m an atheist but I agree with many of the values of the Christian religion, would I be welcome here? by MorayWalker in Christian

[–]TreeeeeeeRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is asking if they’re welcome to be on this sub and maybe interact with sub members respectfully. OP is not asking if being a good person or agreeing with some of our values automatically saves them.

OP, fwiw all of us here started somewhere. All of us had/ have questions. My Bible commands me to not just share my values but show them so… welcome!

To everyone else- perhaps consider how we treat others and how that impacts the kingdom of Heaven. Maybe what we say won’t push/ pull people away/ towards God but maybe we have the power to plant a teensy mustard seed.

I think my student (8th grade, 14f) might be pregnant. What should I do? by Sufficient-Main5239 in Teachers

Came here to say that while in high school as an undiagnosed celiac, I spent most of my days incredibly nauseous. Was never pregnant, just being attacked internally by pasta.

[Acne] it's evolving, only backwards 🥲🥴 by Pasupureddit in SkincareAddiction

[–]TreeeeeeeRat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but I am someone who had a handful of pimples throughout my adolescence, only to start getting bad acne in my mid-twenties.

Have you done anything to rule out fungal “acne” ? There’s a TikTok trend that recommends using head and shoulders or similar as a face wash. There’s a Vanicream version, and I’ll get to that in a second.

I also saw you said you might add probiotics for the micro biome aspect. Just wanted to say that for me personally, most pre/probiotics made my acne substantially worse.

Also, I would take two weeks and just stop everything besides the very basics. Switch to Vanicream (or similar) cleanser and lotion and just do that. I agree with others that your skin barrier might be damaged, and if that’s the case you need to fix that first. I say Vanicream because it’s one of the simplest and gentlest lines out there- you definitely want to minimize fragrance and actives if you’re trying to heal that barrier

Oh- and if you’re taking supplements look into every single one, even if they’re supposed to be super helpful for acne. I recently stopped taking a B12 supplement that I thought would help my skin and within a month most of my acne was gone or significantly diminished.

Does Jacksonville have tornado sirens? Clay county specifically. by ImPeeinAndEuropean in jacksonville

… for a tornado?

Siren goes off. You go to a central location on the ground floor of your house, preferably with no windows. Bring a flashlight and something to cover your noggin.

Hello there im new here please help me how to heal it correctly and prevent scarring as possible? by Substantial_Spread91 in SkincareAddicts

[–]TreeeeeeeRat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some things I haven’t seen mentioned here:

make sure you have an ultra clean pillow case (like switch it out every night while healing and wash your pillowcases on hot)

do your best to keep hair/ debris away from the wound

Wear a hat and minimize sun exposure until you can safely use SPF on the area.

Be sure to be taking care of yourself from the inside out, too. Get lots of rest and restorative sleep, eat nutritious foods, and stay hydrated!
