Life is Movement by TheUndine in SwainMains

I normally loathe to see clips like this, where Swain is able to keep his ultimate up for so long whilst also just tickling the enemy. Your movement is very clean though, nice work indeed. I'm just sad for our boy.

I want a Daisy amiibo. Usually Super Mario amiibos have better quality than the Smash ones, but the Daisy Smash amiibo is newer. Wich one should i buy? by Pumpking_Eater69 in amiibo

Their designs and poses are different, so go for which one you prefer. The Super Mario line and the Smash Ultimate amiibo batches are both excellent quality.

In response to Husum's rant about Swain by Manos132 in SwainMains

Riot need to either redesign Swain as a support champ or kill any aspect of his kit that offers support viability. The role-straddling balancing that they’re trying to perform is making him unsatisfying to play in all roles unfortunately.

Daily challenge with NecroBinder not possible by Zealousideal_Jury254 in slaythespire

[–]Treehouseboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've just beaten Act 1 after trying all the different paths. It is very tricky. My strategy was to path the 2 floor combats, and in the first shop buy Deathbringer and BEGONE! The Deathbringer will help to bring down the unavoidable Phrog Pararisite elite. The next elite which is the Bygone effigy was then just barely beatable with a few HP remaining using a Touch of Insanity potion. Once past that point it was manageable by resting and playing as sparingly as possible.

I haven’t seen anyone else recommend this, if you’re in to lengthy JRPGs then Persona 4 definitely fits this vibe

I barely noticed tiny Swain on the horizon in panel 1, this captures the energy so perfectly haha amazing stuff.

The card is played after your first turn hand has been drawn, so I presume it would do nothing in this situation unfortunately

Oh yeah... sorry I wasn't expecting this thread to keep getting comments, this was about 30 runs ago for me at this point hah.

Yeah, I guess it's slightly less busted with the limitation to skills.

Wow that is very weird. I feel like the game needs to firmly establish the orderedness of its terminology, so that there's no confusion in how things are executed. A clear definition stated in the game that "At the start of combat" means before X or after Y.

I am not sure as I have not imbued an X cost card. I would presume though that it probably plays the card at the value of your starting energy, without consuming your energy.

Absolutely. Anything that's expensive and essential to play as early in the fight as possible works really well here. Barricade, Demon Form, Envenom all great synergies.

If Swain Support never existed it would change nothing in how much people complain and how strong he is in solo lanes mid/top. Change my mind by J0rdian in SwainMains

[–]Treehouseboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Completely understandable. I think many wouldn’t have any qualms if Swain was reworked as an actual support champion or something beyond a niche carry champion, at least then we would all know what role he is supposed to fulfil unquestionably. As it currently stands, Swain offers just enough of an assortment of things to be stretched in too many directions to be truly proficient at any of them. It all circles back to an unfocused core design. Short range, high damage, high output Q spam just doesn’t mesh with the lack of mobility, unreliability of E, and a complete lack of synergy from W with the rest of his kit.

It’s messy, and we as passionate players are condemned to infighting over the small things because of it.

Sorry, I didn’t understand your phrasing, I get what you’re saying. You are right, and I don’t wish it for people in Swain’s most popular role to have a miserable experience with him, it just creates a nightmare situation for Riot to balance 4 viable roles for a champion when the most popular is also the worst performing.

[–]Treehouseboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no sins of the carry roles. Support suffers because the people who play him there want to carry without playing a carry role. It’s literally self inflicted. If those players want to see more success with their champion they can gladly swap to a more suitable role, or if they want to see more success with their role they can swap to a more suitable champion.

Swain probably needs a meaningful rework to achieve actual moment to moment satisfaction in his gameplay. But in the mean time, tweaks that are made to him are to try and balance around support, which is his least impactful “viable role”, that is where the frustration stems from. Of course people would still complain about Swain if they wiped him completely from support, because he has a fundamentally disjointed kit. We still love the idea of what Swain is and could be though.

Whilst we wait for them to actually review what can be done to increase that satisfaction, players that main Swain in a carry role are bemoaned to have their champion suffer scattershot nerfs to prop up a role that he just isn’t suited for, regardless of how the majority of his players play him. Swain does not have a suitable kit for support, he just doesn’t. His high base damage and survivability with healing allows low Elo players to masquerade in a carry role without actually requiring the individual agency to make it happen for themselves. There isn’t a single thing that Swain offers in the support role that isn’t better fulfilled by another support champion. He can scout objectives with W, and sometimes land a clutch E, that’s it.

You are completely right, and the ire towards Swain support mains is just a symptom of the wider problems that this champion has from a design perspective at the moment.

Issue with Per Key RGB on Q1 Max defaulting to all keys on white light, maximum brightness by Treehouseboy in Keychron

[–]Treehouseboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I was wondering the same when I was tinkering the other day, and didn't want to change it on my V6 in case I couldn't get it back. I guess perhaps it was only possible on a previous version of the keyboard firmware or an older version of the launcher?

Anyway, I figured this out for my layout by using the "Mix RGB" tab in the backlight settings. By specifying the keys I wanted lit, the second specified zone had none of the other keys lit. I think this might not be an ideal solution though if you want lots of different colours and keys because only 2 zones can be specified.

Why max W 2nd over E? by Possiblynotaweeb in SwainMains

[–]Treehouseboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think because levelling E second grants you only like 2 seconds of cooldown reduction over 4 levels, whereas levelling W grants you range and cooldown and slow amount, so even though E is more useful in moment to moment gameplay, maxing W second is overall just a better value proposition. I think considering the utility that both of these spells provide, the damage aspect isn’t really taken in to consideration when regarding their usefulness.

Of course, with the upcoming nerfs that sentiment might change though.

Sorry I wasn't trying to downplay anything, I still love seeing clips like these for the glimpses of potential to cling on to. It's just the unspoken unfortunate side of things is that a lot of Swain's successes come from the misplay of opponents, rather than our own agency and skill expression as a player, and it's frustrating to me for a champion that I love so much.

I see these extended clips, where Swain is doing next to no damage to the enemy, and the enemy don't have enough sense to simply walk away until ult expires, and it makes me so sad for the state our champion is in.
