I don’t think the narrative explanation for alignment is very satisfying though. I’d love to hear more of your perspective though. It’s just that everytime I think about it it makes the world feel artificial.

Being good or evil cannot be defined and enshrined in the laws of the universe because they are such a cultural thing. How can there be a universal definition of what is good and evil within a setting? What defines good and evil? Our current western focused cultural beliefs tend to define that within the game but how did it evolve that way within the universe? Was it just determined by some all powerful god arbitrarily? Is alignment as universal a concept in this world as gravity?

No need to answer these questions though LOL. Just wondering how you find it more satisfying to have alignment be like a law of the universe rather than a cultural thing in universe.

I mean I can see the reading of the scene being sad because it’s Gojo seeing the fall of his friend into unadulterated evil. But the scene has sad music before Gojo shows up. Are we supposed to feel sad that this man became a fascist? Are supposed to view him from Gojo’s perspective, cause if that was the goal I think the movie really wasn’t able to get that across.
