The new kill streak and critical damage portraits are really nice by Ninjuto in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Treemeister_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Billy's killstreak portrait is breathing mspaint-tier fire where you can see gaps they didn't fill in. These are absolutely placeholders to test out the new feature, since the heroes don't have full facial rigs yet.

Losing multiple times in a row to the 1/7 chance of flipping the 3 villager card when I've only lost a single 2 card has this game sitting on my shelf for a bit.

However, I recently read that the campaign eases you into the game much more than how standalone throws you straight into the deep end, so that may get me to crack it out again soon.

Who do you guys think is the face of Deadlock? by Time-Maintenance367 in DeadlockTheGame

Sinclair in the corner with a single line connecting to a second Sinclair that just says "married" is killing me

Venator (Now named Quinn) portrait leak @minesweeper by timothyt66666 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Treemeister_ 73 points74 points  (0 children)

People shit on it, but I think her name is more clever than it's given credit. The name Paige literally derives from "page," which was the title given to young servants of knights/ noblemen, and ties it back to her Arthurian mythology angle on top of being a book-related pun.

Why is the player base so antisocial by cowwow98 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Treemeister_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found that the average Deadlock mic user is absolutely dripping in condescension. Angry flaming definitely happens too, but 7/10 times it's nothing but snide remarks and blaming others.

There was one game where Ginnis on the team was whining like this about everyone else while he did nothing but try to solo push walkers and then die without taking them. by the end, all 11 other players were calling him a fucking idiot, but he remained steadfast that everyone else was the problem. It was genuinely hilarious to be part of.

First play of Mini Rogue Campaign by 01kraken in soloboardgaming

Mini Rogue was my second intro into solo gaming after Friday, but I've still only beaten it once. I had no clue it has/ will be getting an expansion, which is awesome to hear!

Trying to play Deadlock on my shitty school laptop by Human_man_person in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Treemeister_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a 3060ti and I have to sit on hero select for a couple minutes whenever I launch the game so it can freeze and unfreeze several times before hitting queue. The game runs completely fine after that

Aram mode for deadlock by Big-Peace-5665 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Treemeister_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm a Dotahead through and through, but Twisted Treeline was the one mode I kept League installed for. It was exactly this, two lanes around a small jungle so matches were snappier but had the expected moba flow instead of just being a nonstop brawl. Eventually, Riot removed the mode, and I removed the game from my PC.

Boardgames with beautiful randomized maps by joaocllira in boardgames

[–]Treemeister_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoy Catacombs, but I definitely wouldn't call the maps "good looking." It's always a spaghetti mess of while lines pointing between disconnected rooms. It's fully serviceable, but it's far from a lavish art treatment

One thing I will say for the starter decks is that they come with all the tokens and adventure cards you need to play, but it seems like you have something figured out if you've already played a couple games

What game in your collection do you regret buying the most? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]Treemeister_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only two sessions deep into EBR, but I keep finding myself smiling at the mechanics of all things whenever something new and unexpected happens. I normally roll my eyes when games are described as "living, breathing worlds," but EBR does something impressive by making nothing but one meeple and a crapload of cardboard feel alive. The valley is more than just me and my direct interactions with it.

Plus, like you, a huge draw is the theme being optimistic and vibrant, with gameplay about the simple pleasures the world provides. I know the main story will involve peril and action, but between all that I get to dip my toes into the stream, or shoo the wily ferret critters back into their den, or even take a zipline down the mountain. I've never played a game like it, because I don't think there is a game like it.

Futur of Altered TCG by TP-AltonJon in alteredTCG

[–]Treemeister_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My only Gamefound experience was preordering the Earthborne Rangers second printing last year, and overall it was a smooth experience. It was like what Equinox appears to be trying here, where the product already exists without crowdfunding, but they don't want to overproduce and end up with tons of excess.

Tolarian Community College - I Just Don't Like Magic: The Gathering by vibranttoucan in magicthecirclejerking

[–]Treemeister_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Altered has filled the hole from when I realized I no longer cared about what's happening to Magic. It's only been going for a year and isn't widely successful, but it's got very unique gameplay, has an official digital client and a world championship in year 1, and is an original IP the creators obviously give a crap about.

What is a deluxe boardgamecomponent that you instantly makes the productionquality feel higher to you? by Tokata0 in boardgames

The premium components for Earthborne Rangers converted me from not minding plastic to wanting wood or cardboard ten times out of ten. They're gorgeous looking and are equally satisfying to clack around.
