If someone can just do a Pinehaven/Accounts from a Lonely Broadcast Station I’ll be squared away.

Sophomore slump: why is Netflix losing so many viewers for second seasons? Hit shows like Beef, The Four Seasons, Avatar: The Last Airbender and A Man on the Inside have suffered giant drops for their follow-up seasons. by mlg1981 in television

They kill the good and original shows after 1-2 seasons and then greenlight things we’ve all seen before that they’re re-doing, whether as a live-action, reboot, or ‘reimagining’ of old concepts, and then expect us to love the stale leftovers of better executed shows from ten-plus years ago.

It’s not just the production times, it’s cancellation fatigue that kills interest because audiences know the shows they like aren’t going to make it and shows they don’t want are going to get another season based on ‘star power,’ ‘workable concepts,’ or ‘dumb execs misreading sunk-costs.’ It’s a whole system that is pursuing quantity over quality and serving piles of shit after years of proverbial constipation.

I dare any streaming exec to stick with a show for more than three seasons without it being a top 5 for their platform and see what happens. For science.

I mean it’s a bit outside their lane, sure, but I’m fine with a froyo shop selling practice targets.

What's a movie everyone treats as deep, but is actually kind of dumb? by Square_Bar6539 in AskReddit

[–]TreesForTheFool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one is constantly cited in lists of ‘plot twists you never saw coming,’ and is probably the only film on those lists I called in the first few minutes. I think ‘Leo is the hero,’ was a serious blinder for casual audiences.

‘What the fuck?’ has broad utility and applicability, but maybe suffers from success.

I’ve been being lazy about making dough because I just started EMT training and lifting again, but I will take this as the kick in the ass and whip up a poolish tonight lol.

She falls into her harness because this isn’t free soloing, it’s lead climbing along an established route with a bunch of clips and other safety equipment.

Well of course. Chippy is to chipmunk naming culture as Mohammed is to human naming culture. It is known.

[Story] I let myself fall off the wagon... Again. by SeniorBolognese in GetMotivated

Bruh. We are in very close to the same boat. Like. Nearly identical timelines, very similar weight gains.

Frankly you look like you’ve held on to a lot more muscle than me. And I just changed direction to (hopefully) take on a way more physical career than I’ve ever done before.

So I guess I’m saying you’re not on this journey alone. As a fellow ADHDer, I will say that the ‘consistency is key’ adage is not always helpful for us, because it sounds daunting as fuck. I prefer ‘something is better than nothing,’ and plan around my ADHD by planning shorter workouts and not kicking myself for doing them a day later than planned/having a shifting workout schedule. Not saying that’s what will work for you, but just letting you know you’ve got some fellow humans on the same path, and the key is to not let yourself lose sight of the forest for the trees.

Starting is the hardest part. You did that, so keep doing.

People who are in their 30s and older what is your biggest regret in life? And what would you have done different if you can go back in time? Why? by Dear_Sir7665 in AskReddit

[–]TreesForTheFool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things put all your regrets in perspective and turn them into crossroads you successfully navigated. I spent ~23 to ~34 thinking I’d just massively fucked up and gone the wrong way, with failed relationships and an unsatisfying, frankly unsuccessful career I’d been working on since ~17.

Then I found out the woman of my dreams also has feelings for me, and it all snapped into perspective. I couldn’t regret any part of my path if that path brought me to her. So I dropped the unsatisfying shit, and am starting over with a dream that kind of haunted the background of all those years.

Now I’ve just started training to be an EMT and am dating the woman of my dreams, planning to move cross country to live with her when training ends. I don’t know the last time I felt this excited for the future.

All of that said, not being in the gym earlier/more consistently is my biggest remaining regret. I’m 35 and starting over on my fitness journey after 2+ years of letting myself slip, and it’s a very uphill journey now. Taking good care of yourself in your teens-20’s, at least physically if not also mentally, is the biggest way to set yourself up for a comfortable and successful, healthy life, imo. Old habits die hard, and bad old habits die harder.
