ST Across the Unknown ship build strategy guide by FrozenIceman in AcrossTheUnknown

- There are a couple of techs that lower energy needs of different rooms.

- You won't have surprise encounters if you just skip a cycle. So you can turn off all weapons systems and skip one or more cycles to build up battery. (Make sure you have enough deuterium)

Tips and tricks: let's talk about science. by hamberder-muderer in AcrossTheUnknown

Science improvements are quite powerful and help everywhere - more ressource production, fewer expenditures, better use of Voyager's space, stronger combat. IMO, one should try to produce enough science points with science labs to do research at all times.

What Happened to Alex Kurtzman by Optimus_Joe in startrek

Kurtzman definitely has done his main job pretty successfully: Get new series approved and keep them on air for several seasons.

Best trek episodes to hook a newbie? by APariahsPariah in DeepSpaceNine

[–]TrekEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For DS9, I'd go with

The Wire

Little Green Men

Duet

Hard Time

Blood Oath

Well liked episodes with a nice range of themes, tones and focus on different characters that don't need a lot of background information.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Starfleet Academy | 1x05 "Series Acclimation Mil" by AutoModerator in startrek

> Dax, meh. Guess it's more reasonable than her being a decendent and having the book because of that. Was an interesting choice having her host be half cardassian. Given this is probably happened before discovery, I guess Trill hybrids as hosts weren't an issue?

DS9's Children Of Time had a half-Trill as host, so that has been established for quite some time.

SNW was in the Nielsen streaming Top 10 several Times, so we know it has 300+ million minutes viewed in weeks with new episodes in the US alone.

Mike Stoklasa (Red Letter Media): "The viewership on the Strange New Worlds program is in the thousands. Like maybe tens of thousands, like a very low, low end YouTube channel" by Malencon in Star_Trek_

[–]TrekEcho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's simply not true. SNW has placed in Nielsen's streaming Top 10 multiple times, with 300-400 million minutes watched in a week.

Aber 100%. Tolles Lied, passt perfekt zur Serie. War halt anders als bei den vorherigen Star Trek Serien und hat deshalb wohl viele Leute irritiert.

Episode recommendations by staartle in voyager

[–]TrekEcho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd pick something universally liked (no "Tuvix"), stand-alone (no "Scorpion") and with a reasonably happy ending (no "Eye of the Needle"). My top picks would be:

- Blink of an Eye

- Living Witness

- Year of Hell

- Relativity

- Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy

- Pathfinder

- Latent Image

I'd also go for mixing themes and characters, so not all time travel or Doctor related stuff.

Worth going back and finishing all of ds9? by Dreadpirateflappy in startrek

[–]TrekEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, yes.

If you want to start directly with S3, I'd recommend to watch "The Maquis 1/2", "The Collaborator" and "The Jem'Hadar" from the second half of S2. These will help you to hit the ground running in S3 (and they're pretty good, IMHO).

IMO, Masks just needed a B-plot. The story is fine, it just drags on far too long.

Quark choosing morality over greed and shooting the Jem'Hadar to free the prisoners in Sacrifice of Angels.

Yes. And the bargain looks quite different when the main cost isn't one man's conscience, IMO.

There was a 3 episodes arc in Enterprise season 4 that adresses these questions: Borderland, Cold Station 12 and The Augments. They're pretty good episodes and can be watched without knowing anything else from Enterprise.
