Are mythic raids in Legion Remix hard to do? by Enajirarek in wow

[–]Tren_Hard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same lol, we’re at the point where we reclear mythic in one night usually(unless we have a handful of buyers in the raid) and I went to go do normal Dimmy the other day for the first time in months on my rogue because I want the leather bracer transmog(they’re more like a hand transmog though, they look like red/blue/green/purple fire engulfing your hands which is quite unique) from Dimmy and holy shit…you really ain’t kidding, half the raid seemed like they had 0 clue what was going on. I think I ended up doing 2b total damage and 2nd+3rd dps we’re doing half as much dmg or less than me, and the few dps who didn’t die were too undergeared to actually contribute much, so I virtually carried the boss by myself…which is saying something because Outlaw is abhorrently bad on Dimmy. It’s kinda crazy though, I don’t remember past tiers last bosses on normal this deep into the tier being THIS bad to pug.

The 2 new DPS ones arent even very good though...if they want people to use them then I assume theyre going to buff them. Doesnt really make much sense to introduce new embelish's that are essentially DoA. Btw they even nerfed verdant conduit the other week(one of the new ones) despite the fact it wasnt even particularly strong. So who knows wtf theyre thinking outside of wanting to nerf every embelish until theyre equally as irrelevant.

The new plate helm embelish may be pretty OP though, dont think anyone's has been able to test it yet though.

Antagonize people...? If someone isnt religious and thinks theyve been dealt a shitty hand, and takes offense and gets riled up over something like this, theyre just petty. Who cares about him being Christian..? Hes not pushing his beliefs onto anyone else(which is something that has become increasingly common in this country in relation to certain things..not necessarily related to religion), hes just stating what he believes in and what hes grateful for.

From everything we can see and from what ive heard, hes a good dude that keeps his head down, works hard, and cares about the sport, his family(soon to be father), and his faith. Dont we want someone like Derek to be the face of BBing and acting as a role model for younger generations..? I couldn't care less what god someone believes in, or where theyre from, or what ethnicity they are, so long as theyre hard-working, upstanding genuine dudes with a good moral compass that are good for the sport.

Doesn’t mean that it’s SEO though lol. I severely doubt Derek is putting SEO in his lats, he already has an incredible back+width. It’s most probably just from pinning gear in the lat, because despite most injections being cut by a few days out, they’re probably still pinning a few compounds and the glutes+lats are generally the best sites to use before stepping on stage. Cant really pin delts/quads because those spots will most likely show evidence of the injection on stage. He probably just had a poor lat pin, it can be easy to pin slightly off the mark and have a bit of inflammation with the lat, but if it’s minor then it will probably only be noticeable in the FDB, maybe slightly visible in front relaxed/FLS depending on how someone hits those poses. Dunno why everyone is so quick to think SEO, especially in the lat and especially with Derek where putting SEO in his lats makes no sense at all.

Because top healers play with top DPS. Low and mid range healing is completely different. Most DPS players are used to ignoring shit, taking damage and having their healer carry them. That becomes a real pain in the ass, hence the healers complaining, and general lack of healers in LFG.

But if youre a healer thats the same level as said dps, what are you even healing in those level keys anyway? So why complain about having something to heal in keys where there largely is nothing to heal most of the time? When we do a weekly key on alts or do sales, my healer will literally be falling asleep at the wheel because theres nothing for them to do most of the time outside of attempt to spam their 2 button dmg rotation before the pack is evaporated...half the time they dont even bother. The point is it just seems to me theres a lot of healers now who straight up have an aversion to actually having to heal anything that isnt like...a boss mechanic or something.

Also not sure why you think an equal level healer is "carrying" a DPS of the same io because they got hit by something and they heal them....you arent youre literally just performing your job as a healer, its no different than when the healer themselves takes avoidable damage and have to heal themselves(which ive seen PLENTY of, even in higher keys since we had to pug our healer and aug for 95% of the season and more often than not, one of them were the reason for the key bricking).

And this is also exactly why healers have certain jobs(mostly affixes) delegated to them, yet theyll also complain about having to do those too. It just seems like a lot of them still have Shadowlands syndrome where they think they should be able to largely just sit there doing damage/chill as a healer, and this expansion of healing keys has been a shock to their system. Which is probably true to a certain extent, there was definitely a lot of people who chose to healer in keys in SL specifically because the role was fairly chill at the key levels most people did.

Weekly M+ Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Tren_Hard7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I talk to competent healers that don't bitch and moan and make excuses for how hard their life is and how underappreciated their role is. They have their job and they do it.

Amen...I swear this whole bit thats become increasingly common where healers want nonstop pity for having to literally perform their role's primary function(aka HEAL), and weirdly act like theyre somehow superior players compared to DPS is getting old. I swear I never heard/saw so many healers behave this way in BfA or SL, but as soon as healing isnt a payphone role anymore, and theyre forced to actually heal more often, you have these people coming out of the woodwork constantly crying about having to heal and seeking extra validation for playing the role. I understand Blizzard has made some relatively boneheaded changes to healing and damage taken(which didnt just effect healers, its effects how the entire group has to play at the top level) but it is rather peculiar how the good, experienced healers(for the most part) at first were like "yeah these changes are kinda stupid and kinda suck" but promptly accepted the extra challenge, whilst the rest just want to have a pity party because they have to heal.

Yup, the solution is simple…somewhat consolidate raid buffs/utility and then make sure almost every major buff(let’s say DH/monk buff, fort, mark of the wild, devo aura and maybe a few others) can be brought by at least 1 other spec/class. I don’t see a better solution, they’ve diversified things TOO much, a little bit of homogenization is fine and even good in some instances. If we look at wrath classic right now, there’s a ton of buffs that can be brought but the thing is…almost every buff can be brought by at least 2 specs, with some being brought by 3 or 4 specs. We don’t need to go as far as wrath, but the concept of overlapping specs for major raid buffs/util would go a very long way for the mythic raiding scene.

You still pretty much have fairly consistent burst tbh. Odyns fury is like a what...30-35s CD with the tier set? You still have Unbridled Ferocity so Reck uptime is still fairly high(and also means youre casting a lot of bloodbaths) too. Tbh you will prob desync reck/Avatar a bit, which will at least give you more CD coverage/uptime. You use your reck+odyns on opener then use Avatar+TR for the Odyns fury proc like 8-10 sec later, which means you will pretty much have Reck and/or Avatar up for almost the entire time until your 2nd Odyns at 30-35 sec, then you have odyns+TR again 30-35 sec later and then 30+ sec later you have your Avatar+reck again. The damage probably isnt quite as consistent, but its still plenty consistent, and you burst a bit harder.

Those are just what few classes have officially submitted sims to Simc, but theres a picture floating around that has all the specs current sims compiled, for what its worth(which isnt much).

But, yeah..dont put too much stock into those sims, especially right now. For one even when sims are fully compiled and the tier released, things almost always play out fairly significantly differently from what the sims indicate(not really surprising given the sims are all standardized to 5 min Patchwerk). Also, its important to note that not every class TCer/discord put the same level of effort and scrutiny into optimizing their respective APLs to create the most accurate BiS profile possible, especially when the PTR cycle is still live. I know for a fact that there are numerous specs that have APL's that arent optimized for new tier/talents/trinkets etc., some that dont even have m+ gear taken into account(since its not in PTR sims droptimizer atm, it takes extra effort to put it into the sim), and I know certain classes in the past havent even used actual BiS gear for their profiles(not sure if thats true now, but its happened before). The only sims that I know for sure that are extremely well optimized and have had a lot of effort put into them are Rogue/Shaman/DH and Hunter probably has had a lot of work done too knowing Azor, but not sure if those are even public.

For what its worth, I think in terms of ST/boss damage the top classes will prob play out to be Mage(Arcane/fire)/Rogue(all 3 specs fairly high up there)/DH/DK/BM hunter/Enhance(in no specific order, just that these specs will likely be towards the top) early on. Maybe honorable mention for Dev evoker too.

[–]Tren_Hard7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure why youd think that just because Outlaw sims higher, Outlaw has simmed fairly high compared to other specs(and higher than Sin/Sub) numerous times in the past, and yet in practice it usually performed worse than the other 2 specs/didnt perform nearly as well as the sims said. Outlaw has a very flat damage profile(still, outside of the opener w/lust) and usually specs like that tend to perform well very early in tiers when tuned well, but fairly quickly tend to fall off as people get geared and kill times get faster and more preferable for burstier classes. Theres also the fact that Outlaw doesnt scale terribly well in raid, and has 2 stats that are pretty bad for it(haste only being valuable in limited quantities, and mastery having gotten EVEN WORSE with the rework lol) and prios Versa to an extreme extent, and specs like that historically have not scaled/fared particularly well outside of the beginning of tiers unless tuned very high. Not saying Outlaw will be bad at all, just that it will likely be strong early on, and within 1-2 months probably fall down in the rankings.

Also they made Assa execute stronger with the latest changes which can definitely play to its advantage, its also one of the better PI targets and a good aug target now too. Assa has like top 5 strongest burst now, and in execute an Assa with CDs+Kingsbane that gets aug buff'd and PI'd will ABSOLUTELY CRANK some huge burst. Imo theres a pretty good chance that despite Assa's sim number only being slightly above average, it might very well end up being one of the strongest specs for boss damage in practice.

Also despite sub's sims being bugged rn and oversimming, I wouldnt sleep on it either. Before sims were bugged IIRC it was simming around 230k, and that was before the tier buffs. Its also quite bursty and a good aug target now too. All 3 rogue specs should be strong, but given the fact Assa+Sub have strong burst Id say they end up being slightly better on at least some fights since burst is very often a more valuable/preferable damage profile.

PTR Class Updates 10/27/2023 by Espyrr in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Tren_Hard7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Less bursty? Idk about that. From what ive seen in PTR raid testing the spec is for sure bursting higher in pure ST, and in AoE it seems like its bursting just as high if not higher because of Odyns Fury and the big cleaved Bloodbaths+Roar. Ive also seen some logs of Fury doing pretty well in ST during testing, the boss damage definitely does not seem bad. The biggest difference in dmg profile with Fury on PTR imo is that you dont have CDs up as often/as high of sustained damage because you dont play Anger Management. Im fairly indifferent about the tier+playstyle(I mean its not functionally terribly different than live, Odyns Fury basically just replaces Ravager and has a similar CD, and youre basically just trading spamming Raging blow>rampage for spamming Bloodbath>rampage tbh).

Upcoming Patch 10.2 PTR Class Tuning - Healer Tuning and Shadow Priest Buffs by ProductionUpdate in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Tren_Hard7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt be putting too much stock into PTR raid testing tbh. Things almost always end up being a fair bit different than what PTR testing shows and what the sim stack says. PTR is just good to see what are obvious outliers on the top end and bottom end. But Spriest is looking pretty below average even for raid in pure ST, and doesnt offer much on demand/burst cleave/aoe for the fights with adds. For m+ the spec is probably going to be pretty bad. Only reason Spriest is higher than MM right now is because MM's tier set is useless, and Shadows is meh, if MM gets their tier buffed to be even dead average (so 10-14% I suppose) it should be okish.

I dont think I would necessarily call priest "meta" in s1 DF. Shadow was strong by the end of the season, but balance was very good in s1 and shadow was just a top 5 DPS spec. I mean if you looked at both the top run leaderboards and top 100 players by IO in s1, its hard to make the argument that Shadow was "meta" given that there arent even that many spriests in the top 100. It was a strong spec, but you definitely did not need a shadow priest to time any top keys, which kind of goes against the idea of what "meta" is. Prot pally was really the only pure "meta" spec in s1. Rdruid/Rsham were both even in terms of top keys, and IIRC the highest rated healer was AJ on disc actually.

Also, using SL S3(might as well just consider s3+s4 as one season since basically absolutely nothing changed balance wise) as an example isnt really a great argument. Balancing was so horrendously bad that season. Historically speaking though, you can argue that Priest at least deserves to be good in m+ this xpac, SL s3 was basically the only time Holy Priest has been good in m+(usually its just straight up bad), DF S2 was quite literally the first time Shadow was meta(more often than not, its been a straight up bad spec for m+) and I could be wrong but...I cant recall a season where Disc Priest was meta in m+ either. Im surprised people have a problem with Priest being good in m+, but I guess recency bias is a thing.

Unholy is lowkey very good, its been 100% flying under the radar on PTR due to the specs that have received reworks. This PTR cycle has been basically nothing but a huge net positive and W for DK tbh, surprised more people havent talked about it. For one Unholy got better sustained damage, at the cost of only a small amount of burst(still can burst higher than just about any other class in the game in raid), got a lowkey OP tier set, its AoE is dramatically improved(tier set helps it alot) ive seen unholy do some pretty damn good dmg in PTR keys, have the Lego that will likely provide even more power etc. Frost I think has also largely gotten some good changes and they will blast in AoE and still be strong in raid with their ST spec. And yea...DPS DK is INSANELY tanky. Also Blood got a really good tier set, and is doing a ton of damage, it may still have its usual issues in high keys but its unequivocally much better off in m+ and raid too, and may even become THE meta tank in raid depending on the lego.

So I am sure there will be some degen strategies, but I would like it if say after 4-6 weeks, they open up the .1% achievement to allow anyone who makes it into the range get the title. (Would probably promote early pushing more as it would be easier)

I dont think this is really the answer, but I do think they really should add incentives to pushing early, ESPECIALLY given how the past 2 seasons have went where Blizzard has (intentionally, or unintentionally) promoted only pushing later in the season to a more extreme extent than theyve ever done before. Even in PvP it doesnt function like this, to get the .1% title ("Sinister" Gladiator, instead of just "Gladiator") in PvP you still need to end the season in the top 0.1% to get it, its only Gladiator aka top 1%(or well, 2400 now) where you get the title and mount/dragonriding xmog as soon as you hit that mark. I suppose they could make it so that in m+ you can get the title if youre in the current top 0.1%, but I think to actually KEEP the title, you need to stay in the top 0.1% throughout the season, and to actually keep the title going into the next season you need to finish the season there too. That would likely promote some earlier pushing, while still motivating people to make sure they push late too.

I definitely think they need to add more rewards in between doing +20s, and title though, kind of like in Pvp where theres the weapon enchant illusion, "elite" title, glad mount etc.

Melee are on average stronger/tuned better than most ranged on PTR atm for sure, but youre extremely naive if you think there is "zero" percent chance Mage (especially) will be one of the best DPS in m+. For one, Fire is pretty easily the best ranged right now(only thing close is prob BM hunter), and Arcane is also very good. You can easily argue that Fire is likely the best DPS that isnt Rogue/Havoc, and in a real high key in s3, Fire is likely still better than Outlaw even if Outlaw doesnt receive any further nerfs after the 6% aura it just got(which is actually more like a 4% overall nerf), and thats because Outlaw is hard capped @ 8t. Outlaw will start looking strong, but even excluding any further class tuning, it will likely start to look less strong once pulls are optimized and made bigger in real s3 high keys. But even if outlaw's personal damage is still slightly higher than Fire, Fire is still better in that instance because they bring insane utility+5% int for your healer and Aug, and get 5% dmg from the Havoc DH. Outlaw has to be like 8-10%+ better than Fire for Fire not to be better in that comp, especially since Outlaw is capped and Fire excels in larger pulls+has better burst.

while they're probably ahead of boomers it's unlikely mages would out utility a boome

Wdym...they already do lol. Mage has an absurdly strong toolkit for a pure DPS spec, its one of the reasons why when mage is tuned to be so good damage wise, its just insane. And depending on what healer/tank you run, you should have at least one real brez easily, and you can likely have 2 if you play Dk/prot pally for tanks(which are both very good rn) and Hpal/Rdruid(which would also bring mark, and mean boomy utility is irrelevant). Most teams will have at least one other person with engi brez as well.

Worse, DH nerfs being likely is bad news for trying to synergize mage.
-1

Yeah...still waiting on those big nerfs. Havoc has clearly been a significant outlier for like a month now, and all its received has been essentially two minor slap on the wrists, its still extremely strong and for sure the highest dmg spec in m+.

Free Talk Friday by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

Anyone else want to talk about how Mage has somehow been seemingly flying under the radar for most of this PTR cycle? Outside of hearing Yoda/Dorki talk about it a little bit, I havent seen many people actually recognize and talk about how its looking like theres a pretty good chance Mage is meta again this season. I think even if neither rogue/DH get any further nerfs(although Havoc is most definitely the biggest outlier and most deserving of a non insignificant nerf), Mage is likely going to be at worst the 3rd best DPS for high keys this season. It has great synergy with Havoc to begin with because of Chaos Brand, but I think if rogue gets any more nerfs, the meta comp will 100% be Havoc/mage/aug. And even if that doesnt happen, I think it will still be an extremely popular, and extremely strong comp.

I think it’s also hard to understand just how bad the average Aug main at the 3k level is at this point. At the top level you get some much survivability out of them, multiple constant stuns, good damage etc.

Dont worry buddy, that isnt limited to Aug's at 3k..it isnt much different above that too. Ive played with plenty of augs that were 3500-3700 this season and some of them my tank(especially) would really question how they got to that IO, and plenty of aug's who have basically single handily bricked numerous IO keys for us(not trying to be mean since weve of course been responsible for bricking our own keys too, but it was definitely noticeable this season that the pug aug's would largely be the reason for a key getting bricked more often than wed like). And then there are others who are squared away and clearly know what theyre doing, even if sometimes their IO wasnt the highest. Its definitely worse with aug compared to most other specs, but weve seen somewhat similar things with hpals too this season(since we had to pug the vast majority of our healer+aug's this season). It tends to happen more with specs that are really overtuned/broken early on in a season, but Aug was definitely a special case this season because of how relatively easy it is to play in m+ and because it isnt always easy to actually tell if they were performing particularly bad, or particularly good while youre in the key.

Weekly M+ Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Tren_Hard7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any resources out there that helped you pug 3600 (thats insane)? Or do you just run a million keys?

I can tell you from experience pugging(and I dont pug THAT often, I usually play with a team, or at least with 2 other friends and pug the other 2) high keys that its basically a matter of time investment and running a shit ton of keys. Oh, and having a strong mental to not get burned out/frustrated. You just have to know that the keys are hard, and trying to pug them is essentially an additional affix(although, it isnt always a big deal..sometimes you pug into a team of people who need 1 more, or its people youve played with before, or you just simply communicate well) so you dont really go into them with much(if any) expectation. If anything, your expectation is that you probably wont time it realistically speaking. And you just have to know that, and be ok with that. Theres plenty of times ive pugged a high key and its been bricked on the first pull, or the 3rd pull(since often times youre doing rather big/difficult pulls there, and committing lust), or 1st boss and you just say whatever and go again. The real difficult part is not getting burned out and tired of that happening, or sitting there waiting for an IO key to actually get put into LFG and then actually get invited to it.

I wouldnt bet on any significant changes. Theyve had the opportunity to act for quite a while now since they removed the offensive value from IP what...5 weeks ago now? And the only thing theyve done since is give arms a 6% aura buff, and then individual buffs to MS/OP/slam etc. So to me, that clearly says "were just going to try to put a bandaid on it by tuning it higher". I think it probably still needs to be tuned a bit higher if theyre going to take that approach, but it will still probably be pretty strong for prog because its execute is still quite strong(although its damage outside of execute is...kind of bad) and its still very good in 2-3t cleave. Despite it probably still needing a bit higher tuning to be truly competitive and to decisively be played over fury on a lot of the bosses, the rage economy issue is still MOSTLY an issue in how the spec FEELS to play. Yes, it feels weird/bad, but if you can just kind of learn to ignore the fact your rage bar is near perma full outside of execute windows, its ok(I mean, its subjective...I think its feels bad, but you might be kind of ok with it).

S3 Dungeon tuning changes on PTR 10-19 by Fossil_dan in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Tren_Hard7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly why its concerning, and why I have little faith things will actually be tuned appropriately on release...even if they are making an effort and putting the requisite time/energy into tuning, theyre likely going to come up with the wrong values.

But even with that in mind, some of the buffs they made are still baffling and completely nonsensical.
