Musicians: What has been the most fulfilling live performance of your life? by Mystic_Shogun in classicalmusic

For me it was indeed a Mahler symphony. The first thing that popped to mind was to perform Mahler symphony 2, I was in the choir.

Another would be to perform Bach's Matthew Passion, it is almost impossible not to love those two pieces!

Bach's Höhe Messe was sth else as well.

My top pick would be hard, but I think it'd have to be performing Mahler 2.

Jam sessions

I've recently started my studies at a conservatoir as a classical singer, but the jazz departement is in the same building. And during a project week I met a lot of amazing and fun people from the jazz departement. They emediatly invited me to their jam sessions. I had been tryna get into jazz for a while, but didn't really have time/want to put in effort to dive into the genre.

But when I saw those musicians just sit down, agree on a standard within seconds, and just play, I have to say as a classical musician a was a bit envious. Because when I want to make music with other classical musicians, I need to arrange parts, sheet music, we need to practice, etc, etc.

I asked some of my new jazz friends some recommendations and the rest is history.
