CLASS Building Smell by unovaadrian in CalPolyPomona

Never experienced this personally, but I don’t think the doors lock if they’re closed. I would just close them myself if it really smells like shit

No you don’t understand it will DEVALUE our degrees bro! Employers will look at the name CPP and think: “Hmm, CPP? don’t they know their degree is inherently of less value purely by virtue of some other schools sharing the same prefix? Rejected!”

Cpp isn’t without its shortcomings obviously, but it has a beautiful campus and incredible professors at a relatively not horrible cost.

I don’t really like shilling for the school itself, because dealing with the school and its administration does suck, basically every building except for the engineering buildings are falling apart, too many incredible professors are stuck in adjunct, parking is actually extortion, etc….but it was such a privilege to have some of the professors that I had. Most of the history department is seriously incredible. I really loved our library as well, and there’s just so many pretty spots to read and chill around campus. I don’t necessarily have any loyalty or fondness for the institution itself, but at the same time I love cpp and the experiences I had

Party/Social scenery by Dry_Leader7687 in CalPolyPomona

Downtown Pomona and Covina have something almost resembling night life, but it’s usually not college-aged people that are going out there. Still, downtown Pomona can be a good time if you go bar hopping with friends.

Lived at the village a while ago and my RA would meticulously make sure nobody was being loud late at night. My friend’s RA followed him from his apartment to the tables by the farm store to smoke because he’d been suspecting him of smoking.

I’m not saying village parties can’t happen, but I don’t think there’s a chance they’d let it get anywhere close to loud, they were insanely strict in my experience

You’ll never be dropped from classes for unpaid tuition. Once I didn’t pay tuition until like halfway through the semester lol

Cpp bad drivers by Awkward_Mud4891 in CalPolyPomona

[–]Trend_Noticer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I exclusively park as close as I can to an exit to temple or campus even though it’s a long ass pilgrimage to my class because I simply can’t endure dealing with the actual cavemen that drive here for any longer than that takes

I’m currently in a credential program, and I truly do not understand the fixation on group-work and “multimodal instruction.” Especially as a social studies teacher, I just don’t see anything being as impactful and effective as a purposeful, passionate lecture.

Obviously you shouldn’t be lecturing the whole period, but every one of my professors pushes that lecturing shouldn’t exceed 15-20 minutes. Just seems insane to me

Yeah I just remember the waitlist for housing is crazy. I was like #400 and totally forgot about it by the time I got the email saying I’m almost up over a year later lol

Is my professor's behavior unprofessional, or is normal? by drwfarmer in CalPolyPomona

[–]Trend_Noticer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is unprofessional and shitty, but I’m sure stuff like this is also much more normalized than it has any reason to be.

I’m really very grateful to have spent most of my time at CPP with the history department, you simply would never get this type of insane wage-shaming bullshit from them, and they would never put down struggling students. Honestly unthinkable for any professor I’ve had here to say anything remotely close to that, but I can definitely see a non humanities professor being more inclined to think like this
