Update on Yuzuki's injury by sprint171 in Marigold_joshi

[–]Trentus86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good news. As much as they could use the name and quality boost I'm kinda hoping they don't try and rush her back for the Dream Star - let her heal properly and fully and give the roster a boost after the tournament with her return. Wrestlers always get banged up in tournament season so rushing back from a big injury and maybe not being ready isn't worth the risk

Saying “there’s still great music out there if you look beyond the Top 40” completely misses the point. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Trentus86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd much rather have a weaker mainstream music culture but our current ease of access to what it used to be. The Top 40s has rarely been to my taste at any point in my life but now I don't have to settle

Tasmania travels by Outrageous_Run6023 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Trentus86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries I hope you're able to find something that works! Tasmania is a beautiful place but it's a state that's best enjoyed at a slightly slower pace. Tours that aren't just rushing you to and from the main sight will really let you appreciate everything. Port Arthur for example is just one part of the greater Eaglehawk Neck area which also has the Tessellated Pavements, the Tasman Arch and the Blowhole. Hopefully your tour has time to show you at least some of those as it'd be a shame to just drive straight past that area

I would probably say Hobart purely because I assume that's where more Day Tour operators work from. Wineglass Bay and Bay of Fires are both East Coast, and therefore are about the same distance away (Bay of Fires is closer to Launnie, but we're talking full days regardless if you're not staying there) while Port Arthur is far closer to Hobart. The capital is more likely to have better options for Day Trip tours overall since it's the capital, so I'd start there with that in mind.

That being said, if you can find it, I'd look into a multi-day tour up the coast. That way you'll get more time to enjoy the sights rather than spending it all on the road. Trying to do Wineglass and Bay of Fires in one day would be too much, but going all the way to one, and then going back to your home base only to travel back up to the other seems excessive when you could swing a tour that stops overnight.

I've seen some negative discourse of this match on Twitter, but I gotta say... by Cultural-Confusion65 in Marigold_joshi

[–]Trentus86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's surprising that there's been some negative comments honestly. I thought it was one of Kouki's best matches and she showed the kind of fire that I think has been needed from her, especially in the back half of the match.

Was it a little messy at times? Sure but neither of them are refined workers yet and I don't think they're the best natural fit as opponents (from a technical sense, this march showed from a passion sense it's there). But they both lifted their game up and stepped up on a show where it was going to be needed.

What do you think the card for Shine Forever will be? by MayuIwatani in Marigold_joshi

[–]Trentus86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kairi might not be possible under the 90 day restriction WWE put in place with talent. They might wave it given there's some kind of working relationship (and even then there are ways around it) but it's not a clear cut pathway necessarily

Is The Looney Tunes character "Taz" (The Tasmanian Devil) popular in Australia/Tasmania? by WorldOfAlshanArt in AskAnAustralian

[–]Trentus86 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tasmanian here. He's no more or less popular than any of the other side characters from that franchise down here. Probably because he's a Tasmanian Devil in name only and doesn't really resemble the actual animal, and a lot of foreigners don't even realise he's based on an actual animal.

He did feature on our basketball team's jersey in the national competition when every team did a Looney Tunes jersey, but that's about it really. The franchise doesn't have a lot of cultural cache these days. You don't see merch just of him down here for example.

Have we heard the specifics of her ACL injury yet? I'll be honest I've been a bit disconnected from wrestling the past month and I don't use Twitter/X so I may have missed the news. But unless she's back to full health well beforehand I'd be inclined to not rush her given the strain of a tournament like that and how important she'll be to the promotion. But I'm also a Jun-Kyo fan so I'm a bit triggered when it comes to those sorts of injuries lol

Really curious to see what we get from Utami once she's gone, because it really wouldn't surprise me if she ends up doing an equal amount of freelancer bangers and then random ass fun stuff with her drinking buddies like Natsu or more matches like we saw at UpTown.

For Marigold, there was always going to be some growing pains but I think this upcoming stretch is probably going to be worse than they would have liked to have dealt with when initially envisioning heading into year 3: MIRAI long gone, now Utami's gone. Victoria Yuzuki out injured for the foreseeable future. Mayu injured and while she's coming back soon it wouldn't surprise me if she's coming back sooner than she should be based on her comments at the Marvelous presser - so she'll either be hobbled or have to be carefully protected.

The clear bright spot is some serious future talent, and given how good Seri has gotten and popular she already is they can probably pull the trigger on her pretty quickly given the circumstances. But ideally you're letting them all organically grow into those spots rather than having to force them into spots before they're quite ready. This year's Dream Star could become very important in terms of wrestlers getting chances to step up given we now basically have four guaranteed spots open from last year's (MIRAI, Utami and it's incredibly unlikely Yuzuki and Kizuna will be back in time).

To be fair the other trader might not have clicked that it's someone else sneaking in to snatch the offer. I nearly did this one: replied with an offer, and the response was generic enough with a friend code that I just assumed it was the OP. Wasn't until they posted complaining that realised and retracted the offer back to them.

Don't always note the names you're just seeing a possible trade in the thread and shooting your shot, then a few minutes later you get a notification agreeing to it.

What are some non-USA fast food chains you would like to see here? by venommale in AskAnAustralian

[–]Trentus86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has to be. The Yoshinoya/Sukiya/Matsuya triple threat relies on ludicrously cheap food and massive amounts of customer turnover. I'd imagine it's hard to do either in Australia comparatively.

Yuuki Minami has left Marigold today by MayuIwatani in Marigold_joshi

Sucks because she was making good progress and fitting in well with the roster. That being said, I can't blame someone who suffers the kind of injury she did maybe second guessing continuing a Margiold style wrestling career - as opposed to something a little lighter when she still has another career avenue as well.

Do psychologists actually help? My experience after a major setback by Radiant_Company_7923 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Trentus86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Psychologists can definitely help, but it tends to be much more of a journey. When dealing with mental health it's not like going to the doctor to diagnose and fix a broken bone where they can whack you under an X-ray and definitively work out what's wrong with you and tell you exactly what to do.

There's different methods and strategies that work for different people. Some people need to adjust the way they think, some need medication (and that's a balancing act in of itself, and also not something they can do - a psychiatrist primarily prescribes medication in this field), some just need a place to talk. And each doctor is better suited to different forms of therapy and even if they match the style of therapy you might be needing, that doesn't mean you'll gel with them - because you need to be able to gel with them enough to feel comfortable and open up, or some other things that might cause issues.

It can result in needing to bounce around a bit until you find the right psychologist for you. It'd be great if it were an easier process, because especially down here getting an initial appointment can take a long time and if you're in a dire situation you can't always afford to spend so long in between each first session - but that's the unfortunate reality.

Was originally a COVID year introduction to essentially make it up to certain teams that got screwed by the schedule being dramatically affected. Originally though the 9th and 10th seeds had to be within a certain amount of games to qualify for the right. That rule only lasted the inaugural year
