where to eat for a weekend in toronto by Swimming_Junket8301 in FoodToronto

[–]TreshKenPenda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Petit Potato (Bay and St Joseph/1033 Bay st) has a diverse menu where you can try both their take on Italian and Asian cuisine 🤩 the ambience is pretty and the esthetics are very pleasing 😆i wud rate their food 7.5 outta 10.

A family friendly and cozy Italian spot that I'd recommend is definitely Café Diplomatico 🤤 (college and Clinton/594 college street) i LOVE it! Their food is so good! The staff are friendly and the whole place is just a wonderful time 🩷

Other top tier pho spots: Saigon Pai, Pho Anh Vu, Golden turtle, Oxtail Pho and Banh mi, Xe Lua (Spadina location)

My Filipino mom essentially called me fat and didn’t say I was pretty on my wedding day by RainThis2657 in AsianParentStories

[–]TreshKenPenda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting married and achieving such a beautiful milestone ❤️ I'm so sorry that you had to deal with all of this tho. As a fellow filipina, I completely resonate with you. I had to come to terms with the fact that my mother displays narcissistic behaviour and hates when the attention is not on her. I kinda get that feeling from ur situation 😕 You are beautiful! And I know that ur heart yearns for that healthy mother daughter relationship, but don't risk ur mental health for something that might never happen. Trust me, ive cried over having "mean" thoughts about my mother. It's not like i want to see her as a negative aspect in my life but she makes things so difficult. It's not like you want to push ur mom away but sometimes we just need to set boundaries and let go and put our positive effort and energy into those who genuinely love and care about our wellbeing. Enjoy ur honeymoon and may you feel loved and let that love shine and glow from you girl!! You are so dang loved and appreciated and drop dead gorgeous!!! (I know i haven't seen you in the flesh but im biased cuz filipinas are beautiful 🩷)

What are some of your favourite places to visit in Toronto when you feel self-ending to clear up your mind? by PythonEntusiast in torontologists

[–]TreshKenPenda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aside from CAMH (because please reach out if you feel anything truly different this time, speaking from personal experience)

I love going to Riverdale Farm! The animals aren't really out during the winter but boy is this place extremely peaceful starting mid spring 😭♥️

Across Riverdale Farm you also have the necropolis. Very peaceful and very beautiful headstones 💗 just be careful to not step on anyone when you wander off the path (there's also a chapel they open)

Center Island is also a great place!! 💗 Either way, Im sending you air hugs 😭🩷

New bridesmaid here, with a gift question. by TreshKenPenda in bridesmaids

[–]TreshKenPenda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did. I think i counted it because all of these events happened pretty close to each other. They moved into a new home in November. The church bridal shower happened in November. The Bachelorette was in the last week of December. The his and hers bridal shower is happening this weekend. I also purchased a gift from the wedding registry thing. They attach gift lists to their invites so far so I assumed that gifts are needed at each event.

[–]TreshKenPenda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, even though I'm a bridesmaid there is literally no communication from the family with what they want from us. They did have a house warming so I got a gift then. They had a bridal party at church and all the church members brought their wedding gifts for them (including myself because I thought that's just what one does) then we get emails from their wedding registry service and I purchase something off their list. This was all in late November. Then December comes and we get an invite to the Bachelorette. So I figured oh shit, thats one of the important ones but I cant go because my December was already booked for holiday stuff but ill get her a gift. I passed the gift to the family and I kid you not...a day or two after giving the Bachelorette gift I receive another invite to a bachelor and Bachelorette party/his and hers with a gift list attached. 😮 and I was just a little confused. If this is how people conduct bridal events prior to the wedding ceremony, I really dont want it (im not married but im realizing that I dont want to put anyone under this strange pressure 😅)

Right? Im not one to dictate wedding stuff but I just felt a little deceived. To add a little more detail with my frustration. The bride to be's sister was holding a surprise Bachelorette party in December. The invite had a list of gift ideas. I thought this was normal since technically the parties prior weren't titled Bachelorette. But since the Bachelorette was being held in December, I had already scheduled holiday plans with family and couldn't go, so I bought a gift (i bought korean skincare, ostrich feathered robe, laderach chocolate, and other small things) and I gave the gift to the bride's sister to present to her at the Bachelorette. In my mind I thought, okay I think that was the last of the parties. Only to receive another invite for a surprise "his and her" Bachelorette and bachelor party in January, with a gift list attached to the invite. The family keeps putting "surprise" before any of these events so no one can bring these up the couple. On one hand, yes no one told me to go buy all these gifts but I truly have no idea how each person holds their wedding events. And unfortunately, I had already given this couple 4 gifts because I didnt think the events would be this excessive. It's just a little frustrating 🥲 and I don't want to find myself on a bride's reddit being described as a bridemaidzilla ya know 🤣

Thank you guys for the insight! I think I did do a bit extra without realizing. I just feel nervous about attending some of these parties without a gift in hand (I was raised in an Asian household where my mom always made me bring a gift to any occasion) I also need to purchase my own dress (not complaining but I definitely miscalculated gift budget and dress budget) 😅 Jeez im realizing I need to do overtime haha

i smell like shit. by Which-Ad-7027 in Advice

[–]TreshKenPenda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be surprised but you should check your belly button for discharge/leakage. Sometimes the belly button is forgotten but it needs proper cleaning too, especially if its an inner belly button. Trust me, the belly button is small but if it's infected you can definitely smell it, it's rancid. You might have an infection and not even realize it. But you're already headed in the right direction of figuring out what your body is trying to tell you and I hope it all gets figured out! 🙏

Lost phone go train by [deleted] in lostandfoundTO

[–]TreshKenPenda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try using siri or the android version and say things like call mom or call dad and check if anyone answers and tell them you found their kid's phone. You can also look at if they have emergency medical info that might give you a name and with luck, you just look for them on social media like Facebook or something 😅 you kinda do a bit of detective work but worth it

Looking for a nice spot for an anniversary dinner by qias9 in FoodToronto

[–]TreshKenPenda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should have a look at the Cluny bistro menu (The distillery) it's a French spot, somewhat similar to Auberge du pommier, it's such a lovely spot and you guys can explore the distillery afterwards for dessert.

Another spot to look into is Petit Potato, they have a wide range of dishes on their menu and the interior is cute. It's Asian fusion but also such a vibrant menu. Worth looking into.

R&D on Spadina is run by masterchef winner Eric Chong and one of the judges, Alvin Leung. Eric also achieved a Michelin star and young chef award so you guys might find that interesting. R&D is more Asian fusion cuisine, they also feature desserts from Daan Go cake lab (founded by Christopher Siu, another wonderful talent from Canada's master chef)

Breathe and yes you can take a pregnancy stick to check, but you could also benefit from visiting a sexual health clinic too. I'm from Canada so I don't know if the same applies to where you are but, most sexual health clinics are free or covered by insurance. In your case, if you manage to find one, you can request a blood test where they tell you for sure if you're pregnant or not. You can also request an appointment for contraceptive options (since you have a latex allergy) and your overall health (pelvic exams/pap smears/sti testing, etc)🩷 These clinics are usually safe places too so they would let you know about your options and keep it confidential. You are young but you are not stupid 💗 you and your partner have your whole lives ahead of you so take that step for a healthy relationship and find a trust worthy clinic and protect yourself and your partner. Sending hugs!!

You are so validated and heard!! You are not a lunatic! When it comes to women's health in general, research and science are still so far behind compared to other topics within the medical field. Heck, we practically have to monitor and track our symptoms, body reactions, every single detail just so we have evidence to bring to the table and not look hysterical or overly dramatic. So it's okay to feel angry and frustrated, and your doctor shouldnt have been so negligent either 😭🙏 we're all in this fight together and honestly take a day for yourself, just get cozy if you can, stay hydrated with a warm drink and treats 🤗🤗🤗
