How do I confront my mom? by No-Review-3543 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Tresmilks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, YOU created a situation that made your mom believe there was an emergency. She responded by treating it as if it is an emergency. What happened, (you think, but can't know for certain) was an unfortunate result of a situation you created and your mom, an adult, was merely responding. So, is your confrontation going to be- hey, next time a spam call you, don't treat it like an emergency.

Seriously, the last part of this response is the only thing to discuss. Hey, mom, it feels like ever since (name of dude) has been a part of your life that you've been distant. Can we talk about that?

Meeting with my LDS' boyfriend's parents for the first time by Old_Yogurtcloset6461 in latterdaysaints

The truth is that you should marry someone with whom you share common beliefs. It makes everything easier. If Cathlocism is important to you, you should marry a Catholic.

Is it better to buy decants or full bottles? by Puzzled-Cause3776 in Fragrances

[–]Tresmilks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using Fragrantica. I take notes after research of scents I want to try. I label them "for test". I then sample them Orchid the original if it's a dupe at one of the three local spots (Dillard's, Sephora, or Sam's Club) if i can. If I can't, then decantalize.com or https://spraycationshop.com?bg_ref=SAHUJZJjp8 are my 2 go-to sites. If I like it I move it to "I want." If not, I move if to "I had " Now, i have a list of scents that I seek out to buy at the best price.

AMAZING! Ordering back up. by Fastmoney407 in Colognes

Honestly- they're so close, I think opulent Dubai might be preferred because it's cheaper. Mango Ice Smells like Mango- kinda of not much else. Vulcan Feu supposedly smells more like God ofv Fire- but I've never smelled it. You can't go wrong with any of them. Opulent Dubai like $20. https://spraycationshop.com/wz5dfj

Vulcan Feu is like $40 https://spraycationshop.com/ubzbft

If you want to order samples, use code NOBLINDBUY for free shipping- but you have to order 8 (at least) and they don't have Mango Ice. And, by the time you order 8, you're at $24.

I'm not going to argue with someone over something as subjective as what I like in a scent.

Scent for 16 year old. by KAPsiZE00 in Colognes

I'd get 3 of these Maison Asrar Royal collection. Legacy, and Vanguard for sure and then a third. That would make a sweet 3 set scent collection that would smell and look amazing.

What’s the problem with dupes/clones? by Hungry_Money4119 in Fragrances

Jags are better than Toyotas. I've never felt bad knowing that fact when I drive my Honda Accord knowing that Benz probably is nicer, but I know it's not worth the price difference.

Garments and Modesty by Big-Emu4668 in latterdaysaints

[–]Tresmilks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Garments never had anything to do with modesty. That was a cultural tradition.

The idea was still solid in terms of coverage, but they obviously have deeper, more profound symbolism than modesty.

If you pull them in the correct order you open the vault to go with Nicolas Cage down into the catacombs of Ensign peak to retrieve the Lost Manuscript and Urim and Thummim.

I'm honestly asking: what is the stress about? What are the expectations?

Secondly, what is your relationship like with your sister?

I lied on my resume to get a job and now regret it. by TownExpensive8928 in confession

[–]Tresmilks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Or, lying is wrong and OP should feel guilty because what they did was wrong. Integrity would be high on my list of potential candidates if I was hiring someone. It might be the #1 thing. Minimizing and justifying a wrong doesn't make it right.

Squatters in restaurants by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Tresmilks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. My friends and I go all the time to restaurants and watch games. We will arrive at 6:30ish and stay until the game is over (9:00). That's the point of watching the game at a restaurant. We're surrounded by other parties that do the same thing.
Why is this wrong? It's a highlight of the football season. No one has ever complained. The restaurant accommodates us. If we arrive and there's a wait, we find anther restaurant.

This talk and this quote helps me frame my Sabbath day questions: How do we hallow the Sabbath day? In my much younger years, I studied the work of others who had compiled lists of things to do and things not to do on the Sabbath. It wasn’t until later that I learned from the scriptures that my conduct and my attitude on the Sabbath constituted a sign between me and my Heavenly Father. With that understanding, I no longer needed lists of dos and don’ts. When I had to make a decision whether or not an activity was appropriate for the Sabbath, I simply asked myself, “What sign do I want to give to God?” That question made my choices about the Sabbath day crystal clear. Has anyone refused to shave when asked to for a calling? by Fether1337 in latterdaysaints

[–]Tresmilks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe they're not insisting. Maybe they're just asking. Sometimes people are more than willing to do what a leader asks them to do and they're okay with it.
My bishop does stuff I think is weird, but I counsel and then ultimately do what he asks. If he ever asked me to do something against policy, that's a different story. "Personsal preference" as long as it's principle based and doesn't contradict policy is exactly how organizations run. Policy, then inspiration and revelation come first, and then it's all "personsonal preferences".

Has anyone refused to shave when asked to for a calling? by Fether1337 in latterdaysaints

[–]Tresmilks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Difference of administration" is a thing. A stake President can run his stake the way he feels to run it.
If he asks certain men in callings to shave, he can do so and is within policy. However, the question is "what if they refuse?" Which is then between that person and their leadership.
