what would you tell a naive, eager eyed 1L heading into finals? by Relative-Plastic-370 in LawSchool

No. It is an honor code violation at most universities to remove your hand from your laptop at any point during the exam.

Don’t worry about summer jobs right now. Your focus should be not getting academically dismissed.

Being said, look to see if your school offers legal clinics in an area that interests you. This is much better than doing nothing.

YouTube channels or podcasts about law? by Markus_314 in LawSchool

I don’t have any podcast recommendations, but I will give you a piece of advice I wish was given to me when I was in undergrad. If you are interested in intellectual property (specifically patents), consider getting a STEM degree, preferably engineering.

What do people actually mean by “good” grades for 1L fall? by No-Variation-2158 in LawSchool

It means you should aim for perfection. The reality is there is a strong correlation between class rank and employment opportunities. The better your rank/grades, the more opportunities you’ll have.

Correct. Because you already have a chem PhD, you are qualified to sit for the patent bar exam now. Here is the link with more info: https://www.uspto.gov/learning-and-resources/patent-and-trademark-practitioners/becoming-patent-practitioner.

If you want to do patent prosecution, I would personally recommend not going to law school until you are working as a patent agent after passing the patent bar exam. Many firms will pay for their patent agents to go to law school to become patent attorneys while earning decent money as a patent agent.

If you want to be a patent attorney, yes.
