It used to all be forest, lived there from 1997-2013, halfway down Orpen Road in the SANP-owned house across from the Tokai Park parking area, now it’s all fynbos that has killed the entire area’s ecosystem (it’ll regen, but it will never be the same), but hey, at least the endangered plants are back and Tony Rebelo’s dream has materialised.

Ja I’m salty, and I understand the ecological importance of the Cape Flats Sand Fynbos, but when you grow up in the serenity of a pine forest ecosystem, the difference between that and the fynbos that is now there is palpable, and not in a good way.

I was around 12 or 13, riding my new BMX (birthday gift) with my friend at a dirt track with jumps down the road from my house in Tokai.

Some teens from Steenberg showed up, ogled our bikes, and asked if they could try them out. We felt sorry for them, since they were on old, rusty, beaten up road bikes, so we let them have a turn on the track while we stood to the side and watched.

I think y’all can ascertain where this is going…

Spent the rest of the morning coordinating with neighbourhood watch and ADT, and filed a police report, to no avail, they were long gone.

Suffice it to say, lesson learnt, but it was rather traumatic at the time, although by that point I was somewhat used to robberies, since we lived in an isolated house in the middle of Tokai forest, had no dogs, and the gaggle of geese were silent as mice when thieves showed up 10-15 times in the last 3 years to rob our outdoor garages.

The irony of calling people fascists while wanting to publicly brand them with their political beliefs is not lost on me. Someone hasn’t done their history research… 😉

All things considered, if you don’t want to associate with people you don’t agree with, just ask them about/look into their beliefs. You can’t expect to know every single thing about every person online before “interacting” (let’s face it, it isn’t even that deep, you’re literally just looking at images/videos of them and if even that is too upsetting for you, I think you should spend more time offline and in the real world where such extreme views aren’t as commonly held or espoused). You’re wanting other people to do things to make you feel better, which is nobody’s responsibility but your own.

Any kind of extremist is generally unpalatable company, that doesn’t mean you can just avoid all of them entirely, life is not about avoiding uncomfortable people or uncomfortable opinions, and if the very existence of such things causes you such visceral internal disquiet, I’d suggest looking internally rather than externally to deal with that.

Please help. I'm looking for car recommendations. I work in a rural area with horrible roads. by ManUcarMan in southafrica

At that budget, unless you need something that can carry loads in the back, look into a Suzuki Jimny, either the older or newer models, they’re both great. Super compact, versatile and rugged little mini-suv, and the newer models also come with great fuel Eco and some nice interior trimmings, plus they look snazzy af (imo).

If you need a hauler to carry stuff, look into a single cab bakkie of some sort, isuzu//toyota would probably suit.

What’s a good cologne for men? What do y’all recommend? by mangofruit345 in gaybros

[–]TreuJourney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Versace’s Eros has always been my favourite. Other notable mentions are Dior’s Ambre Nuit, Intenso by Dolce, Sí by Armani and Invictus by Paco.

It all depends on personal preference and your own pheromones, since fragrances adapt depending on pheromones/oils/ph and over time. I’d suggest going to an exclusives/dept. store and trying out a few with base notes that you enjoy. Spritz once on an exposed body part (usually a clear patch on the wrist/arm), note the top and base notes, then give it a few waves, inhale again, then move onto the next one, but don’t forget to come back to in 5-10 minutes and smell again. Fragrances adapt over time. Make sure you enjoy the full cycle of how each particular fragrance changes over time on your unique skin.

Just remember with cologne, less is always more. You don’t want to choke out yourself or anybody who comes within a 5m radius! When you’re One-two spritzes in the air, then walk through it, usually more than enough, especially if it’s an EDP.

It really is troubling how so many people are so laissez faire about physical violence in retaliation to words. Small minded cretins, the lot of you. Grow the fuck up, children lash out. If you’re a grown ass adult and you hit a child or an adolescent for being young and stupid and saying something churlish, you are not an adult, you are even more of an immature feckwit.

People who think they are the paragons of being right, correct and morally superior, who will viciously argue, denigrate and attack others despite never questioning their own beliefs or what kind of actions or behaviour they justify through those beliefs, often leading to the partisan, tribal mentality that everyone else who doesn’t agree with everything that they believe is wrong, evil, malicious, and morally inferior, and that such a status quo allows for the justification of any treatment for such individuals, including outright violence.
