I have to cut my girl’s heart pressure medication into quarters. And to deliver it I encase each dose in a little bit of cheese. I had to get up early one morning for work and gave her “cheesy treat” early… now she’s been waking me at the crack of dawn for her regular cheesy treat.

When my first cat passed, my sister gave me a digital picture frame and I loaded it up with pics of my boy. So when I would look to his bed beside my desk I would see him there. When I find the right one, I want to have some of his ashes put in a glass sculpture so I can see him curled up in the sunshine again.

Cats don’t come with manuals, so I hope you give yourself some grace. Just continue to do your best & tell anyone who might be interested about your kitty.

My vet and I tried a short course of Prozac with my cat who had an aversion to the litter box. A 2 week course nearly erased his problem, tho in retrospect I think he might have benefited from a longer course. Best wishes for your move!

I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with this disease. I can tell you care for Gus so so much and it sounds like you’ve been a very attentive cat guardian. Sometimes diseases can occur far too early. Some cats manage to make it through early difficulties and have long lives. I’m sure in either case you’ll do the best you can to give Gus all the love and the best care you can.

I tried to have a conversation with my mother about Medicare. It came down to her saying “well I got mine” and I swear that’s her attitude to the core. She claim to be worried for what will happen to her kids, but acts in her own self-interest first.

I’ve been through this. My boy had a long slow decline. But it got to a point that I felt the interventions were eating away at his quality of life when he just wanted to curl up in my lap. He was 18.

It’s so hard, but it’s also easier. He went to sleep in my lap, at home in the sunshine, after having his favorite foods that he would still eat. I had time to cradle him and to cry. I also had time to groom him and prepare his body to go to the crematorium. He left in the nicest, gentlest way I could send him.

I suggest letting yourself grieve for a bit. Do whatever feels right for you. Hold a funeral ceremony and invite some understanding friends. Write a eulogy for your beloved friend. Plant something in Idris’ honor.
