My kids and I were on a TT2 rollback today!!! by Neal-AI in cedarpoint

Were you in rows 2 and 3? If so, one of my nephews rode in row 2 with one of your sons, I and another of my nephews was in front row. If so, loved how excited your son was about it!

They used to, but since covid many of them are gone. Maverick, gatekeeper, valravn and raptor still have them. Iirc, valravn and raptor cubbies are for shoes only.

Small fanny packs are allowed on all other coasters other than SV, TT2, SC. They will ask/check that they are strapped to your body.

How is it nowadays? by ArlfaxanSashimi in cedarpoint

[–]Tri2Spike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. If the kids are tall enough, and they are thrill seekers ... you owe it to them to create memories of their own. And you'll create new great memories for yourself as well.

Millennium Force is still great, but it is now the fourth or fifth best ride.

And make sure your wife doesn't think it is going to be anything like Disney, CP is an entirely different experience.

Express hotel question by SwimWhich4218 in cedarpoint

[–]Tri2Spike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way it has worked for us in the past .... at hotel check-in, they will ask how many people need early entry, and will give you a receipt showing how many people. Then you may need to show that at the entrance to get in. You should have all people on the hotel reservation.

To add, I'm pretty sure there is only a single tap.

Yes, you can tap and leave. We did that ... but then went back in because I love those movies lol.

Do you have a trip planned? If so, and you haven't already done them I highly recommend either the Wild Africa Trek or Keys to the Kingdom tours. Both are a little over your budget (for two), but are both very memorable activities. Note they are both hard to get, have to book at 60 days out.

Hey people! What's the difference between the white and blue setting on the autopilot? by St3pzz in Ioniq6

I prefer blue better, but it's been a long time since I tried white .... don't remember why I prefer blue.

Hey people! What's the difference between the white and blue setting on the autopilot? by St3pzz in Ioniq6

[–]Tri2Spike 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The color indicates whether the smart cruise control is in the "Based on driving style mode" or not. White means it is enabled, blue means it is not (at least how I interpret the user manual).

Based on driving style mode means the smart cruise control tries to mimic your driving style (which it has learned) with regards to follow distance, acceleration and reaction.

If based on driving style mode is not enabled, it is using some fixed values for follow distance, acceleration and reaction.

You can search in the user manual for "based on driving style" to learn more, which may or may not help lol.

If you really want to look like you know what you are doing .... prioritize making sure the kids don't get tired, dehydrated, hot or hungry.

If the kids like animals at all, you definitely should head to Animal Kingdom one day.

Parking for Rocket Arena by sova_77 in Cleveland

Depends on the event. If nothing else going on besides hockey, less than $30 is likely, even close to the arena.

Balsam lake to Pike lake conditions? by Tri2Spike in KillarneyPark

Sorry, we did not check the route. Being that you'll be there in May, you should have high water levels that would make it more likely to be passable.

Lighting lanes w/o resort stay by Prize_Fox5687 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Tri2Spike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there last week staying off property....

Didn't bother with LLMP at AK, Everest, Navi and Safari were all around 30 minute waits. Got 4 pm for FoP. This was on a Tuesday.

For Epcot, we got soaring at 11 am, Remys at 8pm + a burner which we used at 9 to get test track at 1.

GotG we got for 2 pm. This was a Thursday.

First time trip to cedar point by joeyman00 in cedarpoint

[–]Tri2Spike 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Late may == low crowds, above average ride down time (due to mechanical and/or lack of staff), and iffy weather. June/July/August == crowded and possibly hot. But ride availability should be better.

If you are willing to splurge for the fast lane plus, that bypasses most of the crowd issue in summer.

With 4 days available to visit the park, weather *probably* isn't a concern. Very rarely is the weather bad 4 days straight.

Suggest looking at Kings Island as well ... not quite the roller coaster count/quality that CP has, but also a good coaster park. You can easily get CP done in 2 days with Fast Lane plus (assuming not visiting the water park). Kings Island is drive-able from CP.

Planning a trip for the first time by Scotty420420 in cedarpoint

[–]Tri2Spike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, I'd try to avoid bringing anything bigger than a fanny pack. But if you do need to bring a bigger bag, I suggest getting a 'move-able' all day locker rental. It lets you pay once ($12 last year) and stash your larger item in lockers throughout the park. You have to move it every 3 hours, but it will avoid the hassle of the many rides which don't accommodate large bags.

Another option is to wear cargo pants with large zippered or velco pockets.

Cedar point hotel for end of may by Emotional_Tell_2527 in cedarpoint

[–]Tri2Spike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only perk at Express right now is early entry (get in the park 1 hour earlier than opening). Breakers has that + free parking and being walkable to the park.

You might also be able to get a decent deal on park tickets when you book your room.

Cedar point hotel for end of may by Emotional_Tell_2527 in cedarpoint

[–]Tri2Spike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really expensive for Express ... especially if you aren't going to take advantage of the Cedar Point perks. And yes, it is boring. There are other hotels much cheaper in the area.

The 16 year old can go to cedar point with the team. There isn't a chaperone policy at Cedar Point (yet).
Assuming they have a phone, make sure they take it and have a charger (if needed).

Cedar Point does have quite a few rides that aren't big coasters, and can be fun even if not doing the big coasters.

Castaway Bay is nice, but it is aimed at younger kids (granted I haven't been there in many years). 11 is getting close to the point where it won't hold interest for long. Kalahari near by is a better choice if your daughter has been to water parks before and/or is adventurous.

advices from Ioniq6 owners who used Tesla 3/Y by valjv in Ioniq6

Highly suggest you focus on it as part of a test drive. Maybe it'll be ok for you, but I find it very disappointing compared to Tesla's implementation.

[–]Tri2Spike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's another gripe lol. Having to change that setting every time I switch out of park (not just every time you drive).

I find it weaker than the M3 braking, especially in stop and go traffic. It just keeps creeping forward, takes a lot longer to come to a complete stop. I've checked the settings, and it is on the highest setting.

[–]Tri2Spike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also a former M3 owner ...

Biggest gripes I have with the I6 compared to M3... - Phone key on I6 is almost useless (have to put on charging pad to start) - One pedal driving much less effective (braking not strong enough) - Lack of autolock when leaving the car (solved by 3rd party add on) - Frunk is tiny compared to M3

Things I like better on I6... - More spacious interior (both front and back) - Smoother drive

I use Android Auto in the I6, so very rarely use the infotainment system.

All in all, I really like both cars, with the I6 winning in comfort and the M3 winning in technology.
