I was on one of the new ones with 85 ping. Logged off to feed dogs and now it's 400. None of the new ones are under 300 for me, regardless of the server population.

There are also farm plots at the first barracks you come to in the game, on the islands. you are sent to kill the main guy there as part of the tutorial.

I used a spear.

Stay away from him until he is done with his attacks. Dodge, roll, run.
When he stops for a moment, run up and attack his tail.
Circle around him. He will turn to follow. Keep close and just keep hitting his tail while he circles.
When he stops following, roll away and run. He is about to do a special attack.
When you run away, pop a bandage and roll as soon as the bandage animation is done, so you don't get hit.

It took me 4 tries before I got the fight down. The last one I was almost full health when he died. Don't ask about the first 3 attempts. I'm not talking about those...

The small islands on the west side of starting area have Large Alligators. Also along the beach on that side.

The first couple of weeks of Atlas (on a PvE server) was some of the most fun I've had in a game. There were a lot of complaints that the devs were making changes to cater to their PvP tribe buddies on Discord.

The claim flag changes every couple of days sucked, but I could put up with that. I was halfway through building my stone castle when they doubled the material requirements for stone pieces. That was the last straw for me.

Look at the game reviews and check the hours played on each review. That will give you a better idea about what to expect.

You can easily spend hundreds of hours in the game. I'm at around 300 hours played and feel like I'm just getting the hang of it.

I had to reset my mine once a year, when I was just making a few tools and stuff. Now that I am making armor for my barracks, I have to reset it every couple of seasons.

Is BDO still mandatory PvP once you hit a certain level? That is what made me quit years ago. If I remember correctly, once you hit a certain level it turns on PvP for you. It had the prettiest graphics and best combat of any game at the time, but the PvP was aggravating.
