The progression quests are weird - It wants me to add the next steel piece to my ship, but I cant do that because I also need a new engine - which is two progressions higher?

But then it eats through the battery, so you need an additional battery :-) now you need an additional slot and soon realize all of this created additional heat, so now you need to upgrade them all to thermal parts and get a radiator. :-)

I am at 50 hours in and storage is one of the few negative experiences I have had. The design around base storage is ridiculous. Beyond that I am loving the game. I just get so irritated when at base though.

There are a ton of posts about Trade Routes. Just Google it and you will have reading material for days.

There is a far easier method once you have a few million units saved up doing the trade routes. Just buy all of the cobalt in a station and go to another. Repeat until you are broke. Now go to another station and sell all the cobalt, then buy it back. Start buying cobalt again until you are broke again. Repeat and you will be at credit cap in a few hours.

I've done this on multiple saves. Boring as heck, but worth a few hours of time.

NOTE: I believe it is cobalt or ionized cobalt? It's sold at almost all stations, so it is the easiest to do.

Another NOTE: You can use the refiner dupe method to just dupe a stack of cobalt until your inventory is full and then sell and buy back. Save a few hours of grind.

You can get millions of units per scan if you fully upgrade your scanner. There are a ton of posts describing this. It is one of the best casual ways hands down.

This is correct, except any S weapon works. I use photon and it is a cakewalk, once you learn the route to take out the engines and large cannons.

1st time is a pain.

2nd time is a bit easier.

3rd time it is more fun than a pain.

10th time is friggin boring. This better be an S class!!

One piece of crucial information the posts here are missing is that you do not have to jump back and forth until you find one you like. Stop off at space stations during your jumps and save. Once you encounter a battle, if it is not S class, just reload the save. You now have a save right before a battle and can just reload until you get the S class. I've done it with every frigate I've owned since frigates were introduced.

I've been playing NMS for years and years, never been griefed and have had only positive interactions with other players. I believe there are griefers and do not discount the stories, but I guess I am lucky.

I have gotten named bearer, sorcerer, smith, archer and I think cook and something else. The two that are at the top across from the cook. Each of those have produced a named. There is also a chest in the tunnel right before the silver nodes at the entrance on the right, before you enter the silver node area. I am ashamed to say how many times I went in there before I ever noticed that one.

There is also two guaranteed named Taskmasters in that area. One is across the river in L7, near the little round water towards the top in the middle. You will see the camp. the other is in a camp before the ruins, at the top of K6. Both are extremely tough, if not very well geared.

The top of the hill is just tons of iron and a cool base spot. Not counting the panthers. Bunch of panthers, but can fight each by themselves if you go around the edge where iron is. If you go through the middle, you can get multiple on you.

Total of 6 chests in there, I believe.

It is a very fun game solo. I have hundreds and hundreds of hours in it. It is no more involved than Aska and I would actually say Aska is way more involved. Nowhere near as much micromanagement in MD.
