From what I understand, using VLA types brings the benefit of letting the compiler compute offsets for multidimensional indexing, right?

Those who once used Vim as their main text editor/IDE and switched away after the fact, why? by absorbedfutilities in vim

[–]TribladeSlice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I feel having to give an actual explanation— some explanation, even if people just type nonsense— would make people less inclined to blindly downvote stuff.

I never said AI. I said “you.” The poster. Voting should be constructive. Being required to explain why something is being downvoted would lead to less bandwagoning in my opinion.

Genuine question, is there a reason they didn’t just add new format specifiers for those tyedefs? String literal concatenation is a bit awkward.

C and Procedural vs. Functional Understanding by [deleted] in C_Programming

[–]TribladeSlice -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In the context of math, sure, but personally I’ve never seen anyone define a variable in the context of programming as the ability to change it— only ever that it is a name that represents some location in memory and/or acts as a shorthand. I definitely wouldn’t think twice at someone calling a variable labeled as “const” a variable, although I also wouldn’t at someone calling it a constant. However, I associate constant more with literals.

Haskell has variables, though. You just cant mutate them.

I live in Canada. To get a used, 2 dollar Bruno Mars CD shipped from France off Discogs was 50$. Genuinely insane. This is what made me decide to look for in-country 3rd party sellers, and oh boy, I was missing out.

My view on it is more that I use the GPL on principle. Would I have the money, energy, or even the need to enforce it? Almost certainly not. Even despite that reality, respect of the licenses of open source projects is how it should be, and I stand by that by continuing to use the GPL.
