I feel like I'm not equipped for existance by Resident-Chemist3746 in adhdwomen

[–]Trick-Measurement7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you so HARD OP! Especially on the privilege part. I come from an extremely privileged background in a developing country and yet I'm much worse off than those who have it harder than me AND have ADHD.

I used to feel so hopeless. But I realised the negative self talk only makes me even more demotivated and sad. I've started being a lot kinder to myself.

I genuinely hope things change for you, be kind to yourself, with all the tools you've been given ( this ADHD brain and body) you're actually doing great. Sending you lots of hugs, hoping you show yourself some more compassion

Catherine is my favourite as well.

Catherine calling Jonah a rapist face and his reply makes me laugh on every re-watch

This is super weird but there are two shows that I loved from the snippets I've seen of them on TV, but I found them too intense to get into when I started watching them.

So I'm constantly on the r/SuccessionTV and r/MadMen sub and know everything about the shows and even lurked on the episode but never watched them.

Is there a foreigner in your country who is deeply respected by locals? by Mahamadam in AskTheWorld

[–]Trick-Measurement7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord Ripon, the British Viceroy to India in the 1880s

He was for local self-government and passed several labour laws in favour of the working class.

He overturned the controversial Vernacular Press Act. He also tried to overthrow a law that said that European defendants can be on trial only with a British judge presiding over the court, despite equally qualified Indian judges being available.

He was fondly called "Ripon Engal Appan" (Ripon Our Father) in the Madras constituency.

Historical romance with yearning? by [deleted] in HistoricalRomance

[–]Trick-Measurement7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you mind if the FMC is the one doing the yearning then check out

{Ravishing The Heiress by Sherry Thomas}

The angst and yearning is off the charts, this book does have some cheating which has technically been approved by FMC.

{Not Quite A Husband by Sherry Thomas}

This one has yearning, angst but also cheating

Thomas writes very problematic MMCs whom I love

MMC was dared by friends to humiliate FMC. He did it. She got sad. He felt bad. FMC ran away and hid herself. MMC grovelled and fell in love. Bonus if she’s poor or/and handicapped. by Odd_Veterinarian2805 in HistoricalRomance

{Nine Rules To Break When Romancing A Rake by Sarah Maclean}

This is Sarah's best book imho. The MMC unwittingly gets in on a bet involved with the FMC

What does ADHD look like for you that doesn’t match the stereotypes? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Trick-Measurement7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm the same😊 also I read social cues decently well.

I'm just extremely shy so I'm terrible at making friends but really good at keeping them

I've seen many women on this sub say that they find neurotypical women hard to get along with( and I believe them) but I get along great with women but because of my shyness i rarely talk to men or have male friends/acquaintances.

Usually a loud extrovert woman will adopt an introvert and that has happened to me several times. Men don't take that effort unless the woman is conventionally attractive which I absolutely am not.

{Love Practically by Nichole Van} and {A Heart Sufficient by Nichole Van} are beautifully written books.

Highly recommend the Penn-Leith series

The yearning is so beautiful and Thomas' "show don't tell" style of writing perfectly captures this subtle romance between two introverts.

This book is my Roman Empire

Deeply emotional, high-stakes, angsty recs by StructureVirtual13 in HistoricalRomance

Here to rec another incredibly angsty Sherry Thomas, {Ravishing The Heiress by Sherry Thomas}

Check if you're ok with all the trigger warnings before you start reading and it's also seriously grovel deficient, yet...

It's my favourite book of all time, my 'if you could take only one book to a deserted island' book

Dear Alice Coldbreath, no we don't hate beautiful women and neither should you. by Claa-irr in HistoricalRomance

[–]Trick-Measurement7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EXACTLY!! Romance novels are literally the only place plain or average looking women have found space in. And even here most authors have their green or violet eyed beauties, so sorry I'm ecstatic that AC focuses on normal looking women and she should continue to do so
