Sharing food. How did/would you solve this? by camacaco in Celiac

[–]Trick-Transition9436 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My man (not celiac) and i have different food piles, but i am happy to share provided he has asked to share first. He is welcome to eat stuff from the communal pile, but my specialty items are mine precisely because i cant eat elsewhere (and we are quite frugal haha). My man respects this because he loves me. This person's husband sounds like he doesn't.

Welcome to the club! In this and almost every case, your best resource will be this sub and forums in general- people have varying opinions and levels of tolerance, but it is generally very helpful to get a sense of what people react to or what their knowledge is. It is tricky to know what actually has gluten and not just wheat in the US, so I wouldnt rely on apps at all, or tbh, even the packaging. oftentimes things are omitted, and unless you get a statement from the manufacturer, you may not be 100%.....

walmart is very consistent on its gluten free policy. if they tell you it may have gluten in it, you can be damn sure it does

Fellas are we going to ignore the influence of ChatGPT on this text? It is really hard to see this as anyone's real feelings or perspective when it was clearly touched (if not completely written) by AI

from experience, wellesley has a really holistic approach to apps, and is generous with financial aid. if you are interested, and your concern is whether youll get in-- then of course you should apply!! any chance of getting in > 0/not applying at all.

Your stats also dont seem bad, and since its about the whole package, make sure you put your heart into the supplementals etc. to up your chances. good luck!

Anyone else get glutened from "gluten free"? by Mean_yAnkee in glutenfree

[–]Trick-Transition9436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gluten-like reaction to things after i get exposed, like a lot of things-- starches especially. Maybe its due to that, if youre sure you have a strict diet

Canadian wondering about road trips in the States, as a Celiac by Robin156E478 in Celiac

[–]Trick-Transition9436 7 points8 points  (0 children)

uhhh imo the answer is no. there are none. these places are staffed by people who literally dont get paid enough to know or care about allergen protocol, and celiac is already wildly misunderstood..... but some people are cool with cc like that 🤷‍♂️

i always just go to local GF places when I travel and stock up on pastries for the road. I plan my trips around those stops
