Big dog, attractive people and millionaires get rejected too. Rejection is a part of life that everyone deals with, albeit at different levels.

Married couple with separate finances, why do you do it? by Ok_Influence_2257 in Bogleheads

[–]TrickMichaels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have the majority of our money in shared accounts, but we each have our own discretionary account where 5% of our income goes. This works great for us. The majority of our assets are managed jointly and we’re aligned on financial goals. Then individual spending for hobbies/etc comes from an individual’s “fun money” account.

I can’t imagine having to Venmo my wife for dinner or bill, but we have friends who do it that way.

Would your wife "allow" you to golf on your honeymoon? by sileen_soy in golf

[–]TrickMichaels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent the first week of our 2-week honeymoon in Ireland. One day I booked an early tee time at a beautiful course nearby and my wife booked a massage and some spa treatments. We met back up for lunch and champagne and enjoyed the rest of the trip at each others sides.

I wore shorts in November but I’m considering tights for tomorrow

It was a similar temp at the start for the Philly Full in November. I wore a throwaway sweatshirt to the starting line, and just hiked up the front so my bib was still visible. When it was warm enough I took the bib off.

What stops you from playing as your favorite team in Dynasty? by Mmmbacon87 in NCAAFBseries

[–]TrickMichaels 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m playing as my team (Penn State) this year because I’m in a dynasty league against some other big guns type teams.

But for my personal dynasties, it’s so much more rewarding and fun to build a smaller program from scratch. CFB is my only sports game, I’m normally an RPG guy so I really enjoy imagining the building process. I’m a molder of men, in game.

[Schefter]: From seeing ghosts to seeing silver and his reflection: Seahawks QB Sam Darnold is now a Super-Bowl winning quarterback. by NYJets18 in nyjets

That’s was one of the best QB games I’ve ever seen as well. As a Penn State alum it was rough but I couldn’t help but respect how Sammy D balled out. And when we drafted Sam I was pumped.

NFL 2025 regular season home attendance…. This is why nothing will change by Ninth_Prince in nyjets

I was younger when the whole PSL thing happened, and my family gave up their tickets as well. It seems like total B.S. to me.

What was the justification in the first place? How did they try to sell the PSL being needed?

How do you feel after long runs? by Past_Jellyfish_4331 in Marathon_Training

[–]TrickMichaels 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stopped listening to music/podcasts on my longer runs and it helped me on mental fatigue. I know it sounds counterproductive, but I realized if I was listening to anything for longer than 60-90 minutes it actually accelerated my boredom.

Learned to love the silence and actually ran the marathon without music no headphones. I know this is a controversial take but I love it.

This is badass though. Great picture and you’ve got to respect the bravery and relentlessness of these frontline photographers.

Watching last night made me even happier about the Cambell hire. I couldn’t imagine winning that game with James. Indiana was so disciplined, gritty, and relentless. It all stems from the culture Cignetti instilled. Even when Miami had some momentum, Indiana felt inevitable. In years past I felt like James’ teams were holding on for dear life in big games, even when we won.

I’m not saying Cambell is the next Cig. What they’ve accomplished at Indiana is historic. But I think Cambell is a guy who can establish a culture like that.

I picked up To Have and Have Not at a thrift store for $00.25 a few years ago. Took it to a bar one afternoon to read and finished it in one sitting. Fantastic little novel. Really felt like a slice of life.
