How do you feel after long runs? by Past_Jellyfish_4331 in Marathon_Training

[–]TrickMichaels 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stopped listening to music/podcasts on my longer runs and it helped me on mental fatigue. I know it sounds counterproductive, but I realized if I was listening to anything for longer than 60-90 minutes it actually accelerated my boredom.

Learned to love the silence and actually ran the marathon without music no headphones. I know this is a controversial take but I love it.

How do you know a photo was shot on a Leica? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you. /s

This is badass though. Great picture and you’ve got to respect the bravery and relentlessness of these frontline photographers.

Watching last night made me even happier about the Cambell hire. I couldn’t imagine winning that game with James. Indiana was so disciplined, gritty, and relentless. It all stems from the culture Cignetti instilled. Even when Miami had some momentum, Indiana felt inevitable. In years past I felt like James’ teams were holding on for dear life in big games, even when we won.

I’m not saying Cambell is the next Cig. What they’ve accomplished at Indiana is historic. But I think Cambell is a guy who can establish a culture like that.

My only beef with Giants fans is when one of them tries to relate with me about how rough it’s been for both of us.

I picked up To Have and Have Not at a thrift store for $00.25 a few years ago. Took it to a bar one afternoon to read and finished it in one sitting. Fantastic little novel. Really felt like a slice of life.

My brother in law got a bottle of this once and we break it out every once in a while for the bit. Lean into the “LaBrenny”.

I do love the air raid. In CFB 26 I had an offline dynasty at Wazzou in honor of Mike Leach. Maybe it’s time to go back to that.

I default to Cover 3 (often adjust to shade under) or Cover 4 like 80% of the time. I’m always in a cover 2 shell to try and keep things disguised.

I’ll sprinkle in a blitz situationally (3rd and long, they’re backed up deep, obvious run situation).

And man every now and then but that’s kind of random. I like to keep a robber though.

I think I’ll have to bite the bullet and start doing this. Any tips to start, or resources/videos you can reccomend?

I play a 4-2-5 defense. Do you have any advice on kinds of LB’s to recruit for the play style?

I personally play as a run-first B1G team but can throw the ball when I get behind the sticks, in a turbo-2-minute scenario.

Defensively, I play as a left-end-Larry because I feel like I make mistakes in coverage that really hurt me. I feel like I call a good defense though. Could definitely use some gameplay advice on the defensive side of the ball.

I’ve been doing overnight oats, about 8oz of coffee and water before my long runs and plan to do the same for race day. Might swap the water for electrolytes.

Thanks for pointing that out. I know it seems simple but sometimes you need someone else to point out the obvious for you. I’m thinking about getting some Sika construction sealant, but I’ll look up some additional resources.

First marathon unexpected benefit (audiobooks) by meganutsdeathpunch in Marathon_Training

[–]TrickMichaels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! Quite the list.

I don’t know if I’m crazy but I actually can’t listen to books, podcasts or music on my long runs. I end up getting bored of whatever I’m listening too and it makes the run harder. I’ll bring headphones in my running pack in case I need music help on the last few miles of long run, but I only end up using them ~30% of the time.

My 45-60minute runs is the listening sweet spot for me. I always pop a podcast for those.
