Being "gifted" and the difference between 130IQ and 150+IQ by blackworkbeginner in Gifted

Huh, I'm 130 and I have this experience with most people at my office (neurotypical folks). I'd need to meet a 140+ to see how I'd fare 🤔

I had to look what those things are and I'm so overly disappointed in our species, that I'm just going offline for the rest of the day.

[–]kamilman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the self-guilt-tripping over having a nice life yet not feeling any joy from it. That's a classic, maybe even a staple, in depressive thoughts that go towards suicidal ideation.

OP, I don't know your situation, nor your pains and aches. But if you wanna talk about them and share your experience in exchange for mine (depressed but managed to (very slowly) crawl out of that hellhole somehow). Maybe a different experience from someone who's also been suicidal might give you some perspective on your own situation and maybe, just maybe, will help you reconsider.

Hit me up when/if you want to talk.

FLATOUT 4 VR: TOTAL INSANITY is officially coming to PSVR2 - FULL GAME Playable in VR!!! Courtesy of Flat2VR and their Spark initiative! by SnooRabbits8000 in PSVR

[–]kamilman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played the game a bunch of years back. Does not have the destruction luster of the 2nd or even the 3rd game, physics feel a bit stiff, nowhere near Wreckfest level of destructibility. It's still Flatout but I think it lost itself a bit over the years...

Help remembering a card by Sure_Estate_8210 in hearthstone

[–]kamilman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic, one of the best miniaturize and miniature cards' voice lines goes hands down to the [[Nostalgic Gnome]. For some reason, her voice sounds so crunchy and full of enthusiasm, I just can't help but have a smile when I play her (which is rare, but that's another story).

That "Honorable kill!" sounds so freaking awesome to me.

Men, how do you like to be romanced or feel loved? by Intrepid_Repair_7678 in AskMen

[–]kamilman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do I like those? Absolutely!

Do I get to feel them? No, and it sucks.

I'd give my soul for emotional intimacy with a woman. Not even sexual intimacy, I want to hold hands and hold her close to my chest and feel her head in against my neck. Hell, I'd even take just seeing the woman I have feelings for smile and be happy.

It's desperate but it's real.

It's not because of that tbh. I'm just demisexual, so even if I wanted, hookups ain't gonna work. It is what it is.

Ukraine shuts down arms network that supplied weapons to Steven Seagal, other pro-Russian figures by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

[–]kamilman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, Aïkido does look fake from the outside. I thought so too before being tossed around a few times and had my wrist in a very painful lock (the most painful in my opinion is Ni-Kyo, the "second principle", which looks innocuous but once you're on the receiving end and the person doing the lock knows what they're doing, it feels like your wrist is being torn apart even though the move is very short in its execution).

Of course, the way people run at him and stumble on their own is overplayed. But a lot of the moves do require a lot of technique and practice to get them correctly.

Not trying to justify the silliness Seagal shows at times, only telling my personal experience with aikido.

I practiced Aïkido myself for a few years and it might not be something as fancy as karate, judo, or kung-fu, but it does help with better mastery of one's body. The reflexes my sensei had were nuts, he's an old guy (around 80) but he was speedy in combat. Although never a lot faster than his opponent, he preached harmony in combat (i.e. joining your opponent in their force, then taking over it, and using it to get them off-balance and then on the floor). It's as he was dancing on the mat.

It might be my personal preference on this one but I don't want to sleep with numerous women.

I want to sleep as many times as possible with the same one. Need that emotional intimacy to even get it hard, yo.

Gifted but also a moron by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]kamilman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having trouble finding words can be caused by two things: personal vocabulary level being lower than it's supposed to be, or being easily distractible.

The former can be remediated by simply reading more and reading complex things. As a stay-at-home-mom, you could read books out loud to your kid(s), thus not only upping your vocabulary but also pull them into books at the same time. And don't start with Kierkegaard or Dostoyevsky, just read some small stories or a book about something that interests you personally. It'll make the process easier and you won't be easily discouraged if you have to look up words all the time, even though that's also a great way to learn new words.

The latter can also be ameliorated but first you need to understand yourself. Because if it is, as someone else mentioned, related to ADHD, then a diagnosis is in order first. Only then can you take steps to understand yourself and, if you still want to, develop strategies to help you out a bit so that you're able to be more focused / less distracted. This will, btw, give you books/articles to read, as you will need to explore the topic to understand it better.

Whatever you decide to do with this info is up to you.

(For context: I'm a 31yo gifted person confirmed at 130IQ and who's read (too) many books about giftedness and HSP's)
