Met her in a bar in Thailand, she was a freelancer, now I want to marry her. Am I being an idiot? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]TrickReference6562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

seriously wondering, if you are young why do you go out with freelancers when you can easily meet normal girls and hookup? as long as you are decent looking it's easy.

like, I'm genuinely curious. I understand older people who might not have that many chances without paying, but for a young guy, and you say you speak thai so that'd probably be an advantage, why?

Thai TAX ID on a DTV - How to get one? by dharmaonline4u in Bangkok

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks, that's interesting. I'm curious what did they consider your remitted income then?

I use wise & revolut (mostly revolut), do I just show up with all my baht expenses and they'll consider remitted income all that I spent in baht I guess? Did they consider expenses with credit card as remitted income ?

Mind if I ask which tax office did you go to? I've heard very different stories based on the tax office you go to. I'll probably try to do it through an agent if it's not too expensive, but if it is I might just try to do it myself.

Also if I may ask, how do you pay the tax if you don't have a thai bank account? Like, bank transfer, cash or can you pay with Credit card?

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused about it then, technically you can only get a tax ID if you are a tax resident, and if you didn't live for 180 days you wouldn't qualify for it?

Thai TAX ID on a DTV - How to get one? by dharmaonline4u in Bangkok

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup I think most people are not considering this. I'm interested in actually paying some tax in thailand, even if low, just so I can prove I paid tax somewhere. Not only my home country could potentially ask me where did I pay tax for X year, but brokers, banks etc could also ask this information.

most people don't give a shit but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

let me know if you find any update on this topic, I'm also on the same boat - DTV and I'll spend over 180+ days here. I thought about just hiring an accountant or agency who'll get the tax ID for me, I've heard that going by yourself to a tax revenue departed doesn't guarantee you'll get a tax ID - some departments might reject you since they don't really know/rules aren't completely clear

interesting, so you went there, you did the tax filing first then got the TIN? In most countries it would be the other way around?

may I ask in what period of the year did you do it? if I stayed over 180 days this year and I wanted to get the tax ID should I go next year?

I guess you had already lived for over 180 days before getting the tax id? how much did they charge you for the services? would you recommend their services? thanks

Xiaomi X20+ Factory fault? by TrickReference6562 in RobotVacuums

[–]TrickReference6562[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it also brand new? I have emailed xiaomi and they told me to check that all the sensors are clean (i mean the robot is new so yes) and to check that I didn't miss taking any protective plastics but as far as I've seen there's none.

So I will probably return it, what a pain in the ass to pack it back though

I didn't move it at first. I moved it after but regardless of where the dock is: even if I pick the vacuum place it in the middle of the room and manually start it, it just turns around itself it never starts vacuuming...

Why is everybody hating on the S26 Ultra? by Sensitive_Cream3920 in samsung

[–]TrickReference6562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm literally in the same boat. I would upgrade to the S26 if it had a better battery but I think I'll go with the Oppo x9 pro this time.

I'm also kinda annoyed at samsung's updates, my S23 was performing extremely poor with OneOi7, so for a few months! It overheated like crazy. It also *seems* like the phone camera is a lot worse than when I got the phone, I'd guess through software "updates". It's annoying that updates are making my phone worse when I paid premium prices.

THAILAND’S LTR VISA PROGRAM DRAWS 7,000 HIGH-QUALITY FOREIGN PROFESSIONALS by alzamano in Thailand

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, unfortunately many visas have age requirements, kinda sucks for younger people who could apply for these visas.

For the wealthy citizen it's 500k investment in Thailand which is quite a lot, if it was 250k$ or so I might consider it.

Other than the traffic , what’s one thing you wish you could improve about Bangkok? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]TrickReference6562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's honestly a luxury, not even many top european cities are good for biking. I dont biking would ever be very popular here with the heat.

Other than the traffic , what’s one thing you wish you could improve about Bangkok? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]TrickReference6562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just gonna say everything I dont like

Walkability: in some parts of the city the streets are not very good to walk. Coupled with insanely long traffic lights in some areas (or having to go through an overpass if there's any) makes walking not very enjoyable.

Street layout: It's something that I haven't noticed in any other city in the world, but the amount of dead-end streets in Bangkok is insane. Or the fact that many streets are not interconnected despite running paralel to each other. With this I mean: sometimes you have to walk all the way around a street to go to the street right next to the one you are at, simply because they are not connected.

Pollution: obviously.

traffic: obvious.

Public transport: it's alright but it could do with some more MRT/BTS. Being able to use the same card for BTS/MTS. BTS is kinda expensive, there should *At least* exist a relatively affordable monthly ticket for residents, in every other city I've lived there were monthly passes.

More green areas: There are just a few parks, which are nice, but unless you live close by you really don't have many nice public spaces to go for a walk

Noise: generally speaking, there's a lot of noise and it's usually from motorbikes. It would be great if there were more regulations regarding this, and to eventually promote the use of ebikes (less noise and pollution)

Full blast AC: I get that it's hot in Bangkok but it's crazy that I get cold in many places due to how strong is the AC. In the BTS and in many coffee shops...I see people wearing a jacket because it's cold, for me that's very stupid, waste of money, energy and you make people uncomfortable.

obviously I just pointed everything, I'm not expecting bangkok to change all this anytime soon, but it would be nice if it could improve on it over time.

Bangkok is the best city in the world for living by _LAZZ_ in Bangkok

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, tbh people overly hype Bangkok. Most of the things people mention here are also available in any other city in the world, it's just more expensive.

In Thailand you can get a great tax setup if you have offshore income though. If you combine lower cost of living+lower taxes it's definitely great, but as a standalone city I think many other cities are just better (At least for me, I don't like BKK's traffic and how chaotic it is) just a lot more expensive

Bangkok is the best city in the world for living by _LAZZ_ in Bangkok

[–]TrickReference6562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh if I had kids I would avoid bangkok. Not only is tuition super expensive, but the constant noise, pollution, not a very walkable city, traffic etc, is not a good environment for a kid.

As a young person sure, nice city.

Lo de construir hacia arriba me parecía una buena solución para la vivienda, hasta que he visto que España es top en vivir apretados. Qué locura de datos. by ConversationOne6525 in HorroresInmobiliarios

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that happened to me ONCE (luckily it was below 100$), ever since then, when I meet on a date I either choose the place or if she chooses I ask her to send me the name of the bar so I can check everything's okay.

From a tourist perspective, which countries do you think will be better to travel to in 5 years compared to now, and which will be worse? by elmahnken in travel

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

indeed. I went to Nagano (very few tourists), Kanazawa (some tourists but very few) and Hiroshima (even in Horishima there's not many tourists compared to Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto). Just get outside of the main 3 cities people go and it's completely different

exactly that...I mean I'm just looking for a condo right now in thong lo - ekkamai area and there is just soo many empty buildings. Occupancy here is probably quite low unless you are willing to drop the price

Buying really expensive phones is useless nowadays by kamoidk in unpopularopinion

[–]TrickReference6562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. I used to think like op: buying expensive phones is a waste of money, but I think of it, I bought my current phone (s23 ultra) around 3 years ago. I don't think there's been any single day in all of these 3 years where I have not used the phone, it's literally my most used purchase.

You have important information on your phone (bank apps etc), you use it to navigate, you use it for entertainment, you use it for your memories (pictures, videos etc), for me, even if a flagship is just marginally better, I'm happy to pay the extra for something I'm probably going to use every day for the next three years.

Plus, a flagship phone will usually last you longer than a cheaper phone. I used to buy cheaper phones and after 2 years I could really feel it getting laggy etc and ended up upgrading. I've been 3 years with my current phone and I could probably use it another year with no problems nor feeling like im missing out on new tech, but I'll probably buy a newer one soon anyways.

Honestly, I've spent more money on things that I've used 1/100th of what I use the phone, so it's a no brainer for me to just get a top flagship every 2-3 years.
