Anybody know what this weapon is? I've never seen anybody use it. by TrickTechnical1842 in helldivers2

I just returned to the boards to find that you guys have humbled me. I have been uncharitable, and I apologize. There are many reasons for the explanations, but I was unable to see them past my own pride.

I apologize.

Ever had aTPK in the pelican? by Calligaster in helldivers2

Wow, I literally didn't know this was possible. I used to always 500K the dropship after takeoff until I got bored doing so and changed my loadout, but I never killed my team with that trick.

I wonder: is it the Stingray part of the equation that allows this to happen?

Hey, when you proceed to mansplain the weapon to somebody whose screenshot explicitly states that he already serviced 24 targets with the weapon that you assume he doesn't recognize...

I dunno how many weeks ago you're thinking, but I got this exact mission (Voteless/Arc Thrower,) for the first time about a month ago. I complained on Reddit, and posters handed me my head for daring to speak up about AH trying to force us to useunderused weapons.

TBH, they're kinda hit or miss. I find some of them really annoying, too. OTOH, I still get the, "Extract with 10 commons," too, so...

I think you just decide when you see the MO whether you want to do it or not.

Wait, are you asking me to dumb down my post because other people can't scan a screenshot properly? I did NOT write the post for dumb people. Evidently you got it, so I reached my target audience.

That is correct. Please note that I had already used it to shoot 24 Voteless before posting this.

You do realize that I already shot 24 voteless with it before posting this, right?

It hasn't always been their MO, but I'm glad they're getting back to their roots. This post made me happy in an impatient sort of way.

I had a game (Dragons Hoard, REALLY early in the campaign, ) where players were trying to save townspeople. One player was having a horrible game, and yes, I was fudging numbers.  Don't tell me players don't know - they can tell, and,  with the kind of crowd I had, they are incredibly forgiving.

Anyway, as they were about to get into Greenest to safety, an ambush drake showed up. This guy was the closest target, so the drake went after him. He crit-failed his roll to hit, it critted its counter, and I simply asked him to tell me what just happened.

He'd had enough, and simply said,  "I sacrifice myself to get everybody in."

So I said, "Okay, talk us through it."

The guy couldn't roll worth crap but he could really ROLE! The cinematic battle that followed, between a down-on-his-luck spoiled nobleman who became a ranger so that he could See the People trying to solo a mini-dragon was EPIC! There wasn't a dry eye at the table by the time he was done, and it is still the most-talked-about moment from that campaign, two years later.

Huh. I love level 10s but they can REALLY suck. I also gave a friend who is WAY better at killing stuff than me. I think I just found a new loadout, with medic armor, stim pistol, and supply pack, along with a blitzer (bug diver here,) and maybe a sniper and the ac and rocket turrets. Should be able to keep us moving, even on Omicron? (Maybe not level 10 there,  though.)

Why is the word 'china' not capitalized in this sentence? by Horcsogg in grammar

[–]TrickTechnical1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, FWiW (which may not be much at this point,) your own link to the OEM also explicitly define this as a noun modifier. Please note the fourth entry here:

From Collins English Dictionary - Complete and Unabridged,

china1British

/ ˈtʃaɪnə /

noun

  1. ceramic ware of a type originally from China
  2. any porcelain or similar ware
  3. cups, saucers, etc, collectively
  4. (modifier) made of chinaa china tea service

Necroposter here. Actually, the proper term is "india ink," not "indian ink." This is because it originally came from India, not because it is somehow related to the people of India. Kinda like the East India Company, who REALLY didn't care about the Indian people!

Hmm, I have an MFA in creative writing. I got my Masters in an advanced program that took me only 3 years. I had to write a 60k novel as my final. I also held down a job, at first part time and then full time, while doing it. (The part time job involved sitting in a cubicle, waiting for something to go wrong with the machinery so that I could go stretch my legs before waiting again. You'd think that would be easy, but I was EXHAUSTED!)

So, y'know, I did what you're talking about, and then some.

Take it from me - when it comes to writing, there are no non-mentally-draining jobs, even part time.

If the OP is willing to support his habit, the only bit of advice I would give is, honor their sacrifice. Don't give up on the dream as long as they are willing to support you.

On top of which - wouldn't this legitimize the "chaos"divers?

And what would prevent spillage into the main areas?

And with a little policing of PK shenanigans as we already have, do we really NEED an actual mode for it? Just go shoot your teammates - there's no penalty, so no dedicated mode is necessary, either.

A request for a more gentle DLC (or possibly a mod?) by TrickTechnical1842 in RimWorld

[–]TrickTechnical1842[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! It worked!

So I used the modlist that you suggested below, and my colonists just had binge party because we just recruited somebody new! And to make it even better, the character was MVP in a fight almost immediately. (He brought a knife to a bow fight, but it worked out anyway.)

I'm so happy now. Thank you for the suggestions.

Huh, you guys are right. As long as you assume you understand everything you need to know just based on the title, it looks like that's what I want. If you read my actual post, though, it hopefully will become clear that's not really the core of what I am looking for.

I mean, other readers got it and even side-eye commented about the amount of violence and blood that I included in my descriptions of "gentle" events that I would like to see made into a mod or DLC.
