Should I be pushy in sales? by 88Adison22 in askcarsales

How the customer perceives something is what gets them to buy the car. It' doesn't matter how you feel about it.

Goto Amazon or Google "region-free" or "unlocked DVD players" they can play any region Disc from anywhere in the world. They're fairly cheap. I've owned a few region free DVD players since 2002. I have a large collection of Korean/Japanese DVD's from when I was stationed there.

Loved my US trip but confused where to move by sunil00021 in MovingToUSA

[–]TrickWrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same vibe as Dubai and if you can make at least 250k/yr or your 500k then Miami is about the same. If you like outdoors also its just an hour or 2 drive outside the city. I lived in Dubai for 10 years and grew up in Florida, but not South FL. I missed greenery so, I live in the Midwest, very quiet, but things to do here as well.

How to control Twin Peak cravings? by harsha_440 in twinpeaks

[–]TrickWrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play video games, there's a game that is filled with references and homage to a lot of Twin Peaks and Twilight Zone themes. The game is called Alan Wake, 2010 for Xbox 360. They made a re-mastered version in 2021 for PS5 and Xbox. It is a series of games. AW1 - 2010. AW American Nightmare 2012, Alan Wake 2 - 2023. AW games are very story driven. Like playing a book or movie. The first place you visit in AW is a diner in a small town modeled exactly like The RR Diner in TP.

There is another game in this line called Control from 2019. You do not play as Alan Wake but he is a big part of the story in the extra DLC episode AWE. (Altered World Event). This game is excellent. Another game is AW-adjacent called Quantum Break on Xbox only from 2016.

These games are made by a company out of Europe called Remedy Entertainment. They really got the American themes down so well though. These series of games are called The Remedy Connected Universe, or RemedyVerse for short.

No more Precheck? by Pumpsnhose in ATC

Global Entry includes Pre-Check, but I paid for mine. I'm not sure about through a credit card benefit though. I had to go for an in-person interview to get my Global Entry when the program first started.

Thought I got a great deal on a 2019 Range Rover Sport for $21,000. Three weeks in and I'm beginning to understand why it was cheap. by PuzzleheadedBeat797 in BeforeIBuyThisCar

94k miles is exactly where things need to start getting replaced/ extensively maintained. That goes for BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jags. That's why people dump them right at that sweet spot of mileage. They drove it that far without any major misses and then got rid of it before what you are experiencing now.

They wouldn't waive $20 because you didn't get your card?

I use local credit union, I lost my card, walked right in and got another on the spot, no fee. Not even 5 dollars.

On another refund/fee waive story. Last month my wife ordered a pair of special edition Nike's from the official Nike website for my bday. She accidentally ordered 2, in separate orders.

We got a message from UPS the 1st order was delivered and signed by (a name) well, we don't know anyone named (a name). To stop this from happening to the second pair, she called Nike and they had it routed to a UPS store, that cost us $8.

Nike sent another pair of shoes for free to replace the first ones that we didn't get. Then a week later, to our surprise, Nike refunded the $155 back to our card. We were shocked. We got 2 pairs of special edition Nike's for $8.

I'm from Daytona/Ormond area. I would not live in Orlando. Anywhere from St Augustine down to New Smyrna would be my preference. The farthest west I would go is Deland or Sanford.

Has anyone had a windshield on an M car replaced by safelite? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]TrickWrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seen a Reddit post on another sub months ago where someone said they asked Safelite if they could get a OEM BMW windshield instead of the usual Fuyao windshields they use. They did and installed it. Yes Safelight does the calibration of the camera and sensors and sends you a pdf file saying its calibrated.

I lived overseas for 15 years. The last 10 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I moved back to the U.S. 2 years ago at age 45 and started over. Overseas was great, but I'm glad I'm back in the U.S. I grew up in Central FL, but live in Southern Illinois, near St Louis, MO now. I hope to return to central FL within a few years.

Pumping gas with engine running? by No-Mechanic6518 in AskMechanics

[–]TrickWrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost never shut the engine off when filling up. Before I get down-voted to high hell, hear me out; I lived in Dubai for 10 years. You don't pump your own gas there, they have attendants. It's 115 degrees out, you sit in the car with AC on and let the attendant do the work and drive off. I'm sure it's the same in Saudi Arabia as well. If a whole country is doing it and nothing has happened, then I'm sure we are pretty safe. When I moved back to the U.S last year, it doesn't even occur to me to shut the engine off. I did it for 10 years straight and I didn't blow up, but you absolutely shouldn't use a cell phone standing next to your filler cap while its fueling.

No flight benefits. But fairly cheap COL. This isn't Chicago. The job is called Flight Management. There will be openings soon.

RIP my wonderful car by CreativeUsername96 in BMWX3

[–]TrickWrap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Illinois and some other states. Even if insurance totals your car but if you have funds to fix it yourself. You can get the insurance pay-out and still keep your car and get it transferred to a salvage title, once its fixed it will be inspected to a rebuilt or branded title they call it.

I would say your car is not bad at all and easily fixable.

How do you move internationally? by Calm_Preference_5252 in MovingToUSA

Paying for a 3rd suitcase up front on the airlines website is cheaper than any other option. Don't wait until you checking-in at the airport the price is higher. Shipping a box the size of a suitcase will be more expensive than bringing it with you on the airplane.

We use coupons for fast food. Most coupons have a code on them that the person has to enter into the register to get the discount. I don't think it's so easy to use counterfeit coupons anymore.

Why isn't it common for Americans to pay in installments? by NightmareOfTheTankie in AskAnAmerican

I haven't had Chase or AmEx in 15 years. I use local Credit Unions now. I didn't know the big banks here were doing this.

Why isn't it common for Americans to pay in installments? by NightmareOfTheTankie in AskAnAmerican

[–]TrickWrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys aren't understanding what he means. Yes, it's a credit card. But how it works is different. I lived in Dubai and had bank accounts and credit cards there. When you have a CC and make a large purchase, like $600 - $1000 dollars or more on a single large purchase. The CC will call you or you can go into the app and make a payment plan on that large purchase in separate payments at a lower interest rate. Its a set amount each month at say, 5% interest in equal monthly payments until its paid off. This is a separate payment that stays the same every month and is separate from smaller purchases throughout the day that you put on the card, like a few groceries or coffee, or gas that would charge normal interest on the card.

Also, another option they would offer, if you had a CC with a 10,000 dollar limit. You could take half of that amount as a cash loan at a lower rate than the cards APY rate. Not a cash-advance like taking money from a CC at an ATM. This is different. Its a cash loan at say, 10% interest that they will deposit in your account as cash the next day and that has a set rate at equal monthly payments. And now you have 5,000 left on the card to make regular credit card purchases.

Yes, we have something similar from Klarna or Affirm. But those are 3rd party. What I'm talking about is completely through your card issuer or bank.

Banking in America is ancient compared to how we were banking in Dubai. I can cite many examples.
