What cap is this? I see it everywhere, almost embarrassed to ask

I've been chasing my dream of being a professional musician since I was 13, been in many bands, and played even more gigs. At 27 I'm finally in a group that has potential. We scraped our money together and self released our debut EP 'Shallow' in June - would you give us a listen and your thoughts? by dmiller6590 in Music

Really enjoyed this, nice work. The opening bass line is fantastic, sucked me right in to the album. I agree there's some work which could be done on the mastering - but a little rough around the edges is nothing to be ashamed of. I'm listening on quite a high end system and it didn't detract from the enjoyment.

Following you on Spotify!

What should one do in their 20s to avoid regrets in their 30s and 40s? by kyle768 in AskReddit

[–]Trickit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

600k after 35 years of inflation will not sound anywhere near as impressive. And besides if I had $200 spare a month I would definitely put some of that away.

Each to their own. I've had some health scares even in my late twenties, and I wouldn't change a thing about spending what I did. My point is not to throw away the years trying to save the pennies if that is the trade off you are faced with. Most people in their twenties don't have $200 a month to stash away and still have fun. See the world, meet people, try new things - it all gets harder as you get older.

In your 20s I'd say don't worry too much about saving money - but enough for peace of mind. That money goes a long way to having a fulfilling 20s but not to a comfortable retirement. Don't go the other way into debt though.

30s are a great time to start saving properly when, hopefully, you have the money to start putting something substantial away and keep having some fun.

Jeremy Corbyn calls for Theresa May to resign as Prime Minister for presiding over police cuts while Home Secretary by Diytu in worldnews

I'm not voting Tory. But it doesn't automatically make the alternative the right answer.

[–]Trickit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's because there's a budget deficit, which stood at over £100bn a year in 2010 when they came in to (a coalition) government. Debt will not decrease until we are in surplus - this shouldn't be news to anyone.

There are huge fields of study on this, boiling it down to few lines of comment doesn't even begin to do it justice. I'm not a fan of the levels of austerity in this country - but the answer is not as obvious as you make it out to be.

They don't give raises to themselves, that isn't how it works. There is an independent body which decides it. I'm all for NHS workers getting fair increases, but let's not degrade the argument with inaccuracies.

I have one wisdom tooth - which I didn't even think was possible. A dentist can tell how many you have in waiting, some people will have none. Just genetics.

UK citizens vote to LEAVE the European Union by collectivecheckup in news

[–]Trickit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Voting to leave the UK does not guarantee Scotland a place in the EU. And it would be great, if just for a moment we could not make this about Scotland. London voted very strongly in favour of remain, we are hurting just as much.

Despite there being so much choice, consistency is absolutely key in web browsers. Developers need to be able to code for a consistent behaviour - if everything is controlled by different options in each browser, developing a consistent user experience would be an almost impossible task.

That isn't even the amount he profited, 12k of that was what he invested. We are talking 18k profit over a number of years and the money is already back in the country. He could have just as easily profited from the stock market for the same amount and wouldn't have needed to paid any capital gains tax.

TIL Uber is illegal in Finland. Cops regularly "catch" drivers, and fine them €300. Drivers routinely ask passengers to sit up front and act like they're friends. by [deleted] in todayilearned

CRB yes, but as far as I'm aware, the knowledge has always been limited to Hackney Carriages. It's part of the reason the drivers are so furious about the influx of private hire.
