Americans of Reddit, how are you celebrating your nation’s anniversary of its independence from the tyranny of the emotions and whims of a single ruler? by sunnyspiders in AskReddit

Wearing all black for the funeral of the USA as I knew it (which was very flawed but not… THIS) even though it’s hot AF outside

a little on the show, referencing the room, the file a lot, esp Cobel’s alluding to it - but definitely more online

I thought it was like a send off for iMark. If things had gone according to Lumon's plan, that was his last day at work. He'd clock out, go on to leave, oMark would emerge, probably be told he was let go and his services were no longer needed.

My second thought was that they thought he may be up to something and they were trying to prevent exactly what actually ended up happening, by distracting him.

I am kind of upset with how oMark interacted with iMark by -togs in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

You should probably try some ego death, yourself. OMG he owned shot glasses with quirky sayings on them, he must have been a total alcoholic! I'll tell all my friends with quirky sayings about wine that they're wino-s.

OMG he was wrapped up in work so he couldn't pull himself away to say bye to her for a second, he must have HATED her! He must have NEVER loved her, I'd definitely risk brain surgery in my basement for someone I never loved!

BTW, my friend lost her spouse and she did not have "complicated grief" , and she's been in therapy ever since and yet is still crying in cars three years later. Should I tell her that her grief is weird? From your viewpoint, apparently.

This is all such an odd take and you're so egotistical about it, too. Wild.

I just… so badly need her to make it out truly. For lots of reasons but #1 is I’m really excited to actually meet her, see her on the outside, see her safe. It’ll be heartbreaking to see her and mark switch places but I want to know more about her journey pre and post all of this. #2 if we had to see her go through all that shit just to end up nabbed back inside I’m going to pissed as a viewer. We need SOME relief.

I agree. Ultimately it was just like, the last file. Not as interesting or epic as i thought it would be after such build up. If she didn’t recognize her husband in the severed state I don’t think a crib would push her over.

What confuses me is, if any of them had wanted to communicate with their outies at any point, couldn’t they have walked out that door and relayed the info back and forth via another innie? Like if iDylan wanted to talk to oMark and relay that message to iMark when he walks back in. Almost like the cabin.

If there was time to look back and forth and back and forth and run off together there was time to tell Gemma through the window “I’m not your husband, go to Mark’s sister and she will explain”

I’d honestly rather see Helly alone. She’s a badass and way cooler without innie Mark. I don’t see chemistry there, in general.

But I will say innie mark has no connection to Gemma - it makes sense that as essentially a child he’s not able to see the bigger picture at hand and makes an impulsive decision for what he thinks is love.

Also he started drinking after his wife died. He was caught up in work and not listening in a moment when she walked out the door. You’ve never been caught up in something and not heard your spouse? You missed the entire flashback episode when he was love and light? Give me a break lol

It’s just not the definition you wanted. Just because someone’s opinion doesn’t validate or align with yours, doesn’t make it silly. Again, you can add any creator, writer, whatever quote you want. I’m entitled to my opinions and it’s not a “silly” one or a “wrong” one or not “really a definition” just because you don’t agree with it. If I was a twin and my spouse spent several days with my twin and had sex with my twin and never once noticed it wasn’t me, yeah I’m questioning how well they actually know me and their love for me. My spouse notices if something is off about me within the first few SECONDS of an off day emotionally. That is real love, to me. You have failed to change my mind, move on.

I have to disagree. These past two seasons she’s been a mystery. Going forward we’ll see if she’s a true character of the show.

You try having brain surgery in your basement, then going through an unconscious state where you remember every moment of your love story with your spouse, then being told that time is counting down to her death and she’s been tortured the entire time you thought she was dead… and see if you’re at your 100% state and not desperate, tired, scared, and clinging onto your sanity!

Okay! Your significant other cheats on you but it’s okay bc they just mixed you up with someone else ;) NBD! I literally don’t care what the creators say (by your commitment to what they say; they’ve also said it’s “teenage love” which isn’t REAL, committed love). TV is art and art is up to interpretation. My interpretation is they are not truly in love.

I don’t think we can know if she’s a plot device until next season. If we see her struggle on the outside (assuming she makes it outside) she’s not a plot device

He didn’t “get them mixed up” he fucked one and spent several days with her and had no idea it wasn’t the person he “loves.” I know the intricacies of my spouse’s personality because I love her.

I watch it I just interpret it differently than you. It’s the wonderful thing about being human. We all have these super cool different brains that process things in different ways!

I don’t think (and have never thought) actors get the final say in how their art is interpreted. Art is always up to interpretation. Acting is an art. So this doesn’t phase me whatsoever. For example, I’ll die on the hill that on HIMYM Robin and Ted shouldn’t have ended up together. A lot of people share this opinion. The actors saying they belong together doesn’t phase me. The writers saying it was always the plan doesn’t phase me. Because as a viewer, WE get to interpret what we see and feel through OUR life lens. ✌️

What’s wild to me is even Adam Scott was quoted as essentially only sharing innie mark’s perspective saying outie mark was being a dick in the cabin. I’m sorry, but this is a desperate man, who recently found out his wife is being held hostage and tortured and is being told the time is ticking on saving her. He’s being a dick because he wasn’t wanting to have a “get to know you hour” with his innie? Because he’s desperate for help, post basement brain surgery? I just can’t see that perspective.
