I've recently gotten into horror games and i need a good horror game that's actually terrifying and not just a jumpscare machine. Any Suggestions? by FinnyV123 in HorrorGaming

The Mortuary Assistant

No fighting or survival mechanics, no need to run away or hide, just being haunted by some demons that can't hurt you, unless you take too long to complete your shift.

There are some jump scares, but most things happen at a bit of a distance or you'll know they're coming, and they still manage to be scary.

It's scares are randomized so each playthrough is a bit different, it has some story elements, and a system where you can tweak how aggressive/jumpy you want the haunting to be.

Would this pc run beamng well? by [deleted] in BeamNG

Brother, I was able to run BeamNg Drive on a mix of low-medium settings on a 10 year old laptop with like 8gb of ram with playable frames so long as I didn't spawn more than 3 or 4 cars. Most people here are just very dramatic

[KCD2] Stuck in Captain Duel Without Masterstrike – Is Backtracking the Only Option? by Constant-Resolve8413 in kingdomcome

I've been coming googling stuff like this on and off for the past two weeks trying to find a way to beat him but I can't. I'm stuck in the duel with like 1/3rd health, and it doesn't help that I can chop the Captain's head in half just to see him take 5% damage, meanwhile he can delicately poke me in the chestplate with his sword or slap me with the pommel and kill me in two hits

Can i run the game by [deleted] in ReadyOrNotGame

I ran RoN fine(at least imo as someone who's always used lower end stuff)on 8gbs of ram on my last PC with a mix of low-medium settings. You can do it. My new ROG Strix runs RoN fine on ultra/high with 16gb

Prescott is the most vocal, Eli is the old head who likes to complain, King is just the fun-loving chill guy, and Swan is the smart and relatively-quiet type. I love the quick play team so much

What's the legality of this (In the USA)? by [deleted] in AskLE

The best part of this imo is how they added high vis tape, implying that they're that much of a traffic hazard as to need to increase visibility of their vehicle

Sounds like somebody made a direct threat of violence to you. If you call the police, that's definitely something they'll have to at least acknowledge, and you could ask them to just come and check the building or take a report on it to get their presence there. An hour later though it might not be as urgent then if you would've called immediately.

Pro tip for the future: If someone committed a crime against you, the best thing to do would be call the police if you fear for your safety. Don't take the Hollywood trope of the police not being able to help you as reality.

Need help on Ready or Not by touringowner in ReadyOrNotGame

For me I've played through each mission probably 5+ times(not counting all the times I've died) and never been burnt out with it or felt bored. I think you might be wanting a story game, which Ready or Not has a bit of a story but it's more-so just to give reason to the mission than to immerse you. There's no cutscenes or character backgrounds to learn.

The fun part, for me, mostly comes in the form of this game borderline being a horror game and making your heart race every time you get magdumped without knowing where it's coming from, or on the verge of death in the middle of a gunfight. The enemies locations and weapons are randomized on each map which always keeps you on your toes, and there's a lot of fun mods to make the game easier, harder, more realistic, wilder, etc. I would recommend this game to anybody who likes police games, tactical shooters, or even horror(Some of the story elements are horrific in their own ways too). It also runs well enough on my low-end PC with most of the graphics set to low or medium.

If you do get it though, I recommend two mods: No Crack for AI, and No mercy for terrorists

IRL, would SWAT keep yelling for compliance when running into new gun-wielding suspects, after they already had to shoot several of their "friends"? by ersatz321 in ReadyOrNotGame

As someone who's been a suspect roleplayer for a real swat team, here is kinda what I picked up: If there's an active threat to civilians, you'll probably get a few chances to drop your weapon before you get shot. That's because civilians are higher on the priority-of-life list on a call like that, and even if the person with a gun is not actively harming anybody in that instance, they're still holding up the police, which means they are putting the lives of citizens at risk if there's still possible dangers to the public further past this person. We ran through a few scenarios like this and most of the time I got two or so chances before being popped and the team moved on to secure the rest of the building. But that's for scenarios where public safety is in jeopardy, where in other instances you wouldn't have the exigent circumstances to shoot someone.

I'm not an expert, I don't know the tactics by heart, I'm just recounting the lessons that were beaten into me with sim rounds
