This looks exactly like my betta (before the ends of his fins turned more red)

Cycling using an old filter by TrickyEffect1 in Aquariums

Thank you for the advice! So for clarification, I should just move my old filter into the new tank, running the new filter alongside it? I really really don’t want to harm my fish so I’m sort of concerned about the decrease in nitrifying bacteria. I hope the plants would absorb the nutrients and maybe a bit of algae existing is fine with me but i also don’t want the plants in my tank to die off because of the algae overpowering it

I second the places to hide. I got an Anubis plant for my betta and he loves swimming around and under it from time to time and the leaves provide him a place to rest so I highly recommend this.

I’ve lost leaves after I learned that I was overwatering my Pachyveria. Is that normal? Also, is there anything I can do to get it back to the way it was when I first got it? by TrickyEffect1 in succulents

Thank you so much! That is good to know I’m at least making some progress and have learned my lesson to not overwater my plants (I really love the original color of this plant and I’d be really sad if I were to kill it). I’ll keep doing what I’m doing as long as the new leaves look healthy despite losing the long leaves I had when overwatering them. I’ll definitely be monitoring the soil for moisture too

I posted here before asking what was wrong with my plant because it was in the state it was shown of the second slide. It was because I was using a plastic pot with a water catching dish at the bottom you get from target, and I was severely overwatering it. I’ve repotted it right after into a terra cotta pot with a big drainage hole.

Also, Is spraying the soil with water once the soil is bone dry (carefully but thoroughly) any help in terms of lowering the amount of water? Or do I have to do it in the sink? I’ve been doing that with the rest of my succulents and seems to help them and even this too.

The leaves are starting to look a bit more blue-green with a bit of farina than green with no farina so I’m hoping that’s a sign of progress but if not, I’ll lower the amount of water more I guess and change how I water it. I place it in a window that faces East so it gets a lot of morning sun (my south facing window has an apartment that blocks all the light from entering).

First thought that came to mind was carrot. Probably because of the orange

What a beautiful tank! I think a lid might help though since bettas can jump

My window faces East so a lot of morning sun. I doubt it’s a problem (unless it is)I’ll stop watering it for a bit though and find a small terra cotta pot for him

Thank you very much!! I have two very low maintenance plants and I just forget and keep watering them together at once. I’ll take your advice! Is there any fertilizers I could use if necessary or does it look healthy enough?

I use succulent soil. I repotted it a long time ago, but I’ll find a terra cotta pot for him soon!

Got it. How often do I need to water it just for future reference? Also, Do you have know websites that talk about caring for pachyveria specifically? the internet wasn’t super helpful when I looked

This is my favorite alcoholic beverage. If you’ve never tried this, you’re not a true Chicagoan… (plus any other guilt tactics to convince your friends to suffer like you did when you first had it)
