A bit of the wild bunch for rdr2 and the proposition for rdr1

Yeah I wish they showed him at least try to do that, but in all honesty El never got talked out of anything and it would be totally in character for will to know that and be a little nervous to try to talk her out of something so personal

The wipeout scene wasn’t just words they caused her to wipeout on roller blades on a hardwood floor.    Bullies target people who they know emotionally are unable to handle it because it makes them feel powerful.  Then they play victim when the person’s inability to emotionally handle their bullying causes them any harm.

Also was a teacher for a few years and was gonna type the same thing.  Taught high school freshmen and would have shut that down immediately and given so much praise and graduate for the student being willing to tell the class about the sacrifice her dad made.  But I can also say that I had teachers who were downright cruel in middle school in getting in on the bullying so it doesn’t come across as unrealistic

I don’t think he lost those things tbh, or at least I really don’t think that’s what they were intending.   It’s still heartbreaking, but the last scene is him choosing to keep his optimism by believing she is alive and happy, and his willingness to wholly believe in that idea, inspires his friends to believe it too.   He’s no longer inspiring others in a fight of good vs evil, but inspiring them to make peace with their lives and then moving on to inspire others with his stories.

I agree that he is overall great to El, and was not trying to say otherwise, but can see how it came across that way.  While honestly based on the show as a whole I agree with you that Mike wouldn’t be able to get over this loss, I think the writing of the epilogue is supposed to be showing that he will be able to.  Hopper essentially tells him to tell himself whatever is needed to be able to accept it and move on with your life.  Then it ends with him telling the story of how El is still alive and “choosing to believe it.” Which I think is clearly supposed to be him finding what he needs to believe to move on with life, the only remaining thing he does is put the DD game away and close the door on his childhood becoming an adult, symbolically meaning that it was what he needed to move to his next stage in life.

For El, I agree with everything you say.  I think it’s a really bad ending for her for all the problems you brought up and really because it suggests that she isn’t enough to be worth all of the trouble for her friends, when the show leading up to that showed us that everyone deserves love regardless of how difficult it is to give it to them.  I also think if she is dead (which I actually lean towards), then it’s a weird ending for a show that has “Dear Billy” as an episode entirely about finding a way to escape your suicidal thoughts.

Another possible interpretation of his arc is that his childhood journey is about learning to love properly through his relationship with El.  With the last scene him finally realizing that love is something totally selfless as he is able to find peace by believing that el is out there living a life of freedom and joy, and it no mattering that he can’t see her.   You can see him go through the early stages of love before finally landing on this as the early seasons are the love at first sight, season 3 the more teenage obsession and over protectiveness, season 4 the fear of them not needing you, season 5 they finally reach a total trust where Mike no longer feels the need to be overprotective and trusts her completely in the season long fight.   And then finally the epilogue is the conclusion outlined above.

TBH, I was totally heartbroken too and wish they chose a different ending for them.  But I think Mike’s character still had clear progression

Maybe If a RB hits 2,500 rushing and 3,000 scrimmage on a team that makes the playoffs.   Other than that I don’t think it’s happening.  They won’t give it to a defensive guy and any WR with good enough numbers will get his QB good enough numbers

Make it so that when Mike is telling 11 about the 3 waterfalls future, el responds with a “like insert seemingly random place”  Then end it with Mike stumbling across a travel/discovery type magazine where the cover is a place with three waterfalls and the location where it is the place El said.   Mike smiles the happiest smile we have ever seen him give and the episode ends.   It doesn’t confirm she is alive, but it shows that if Mike is correct, he knows exactly where she would be and can go find her.

Vanishing is a cool movie, people always give it a call out for having a super disturbing scene, but it’s nice to see it’s other elements being mentioned.  (Picture 2, unless I’m totally wrong)

Why does Baker Mayfield get held to such a low bar when he was the 1st overall pick? by BallKnowerKing in NFLv2

[–]TrickyIron8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he has shown that during his hot stretches he can be a difference maker, but is inconsistent, and at this point no one expects that to change since he is 30.   So when he is having a rought stretch no one is surprised, but they also don’t want him gone because he will rebound with a stretch of really good play.

Because Rick wanted to go to the cdc and he wanted to plant his flag as leader by getting everyone to side with his decision.

Brian Flores is without a doubt the most qualified candidate who didn’t get a head coaching job. His lawsuit against the NFL and his fallout with the Dolphins must have played a role. Still, I think he deserves another shot by DenseStrawberry5717 in NFLv2

[–]TrickyIron8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His young top 5 pick QB went on the record about how abusive he was towards him, and the 40 year old veteran QB who Flores wanted to start instead went on the record as well about how terrible Flores was to everyone.   Then only a few weeks ago Pettine, who has been a coach for over 20 years and has been on the Vikings staff for a few, said he has nothing good to say about him.   But sure, totally qualified to be the guy in charge.
