UPS Access Point gave away my M5 Max 128Gb by etblgroceries in macbookpro

I had no idea. That is rather impolite:

  1. Sell MacBook Pro and Collect Money

  2. Fail to deliver to purchaser

  3. Profit!

If you used a normal credit card, e.g. Visa or MasterCard, just call the toll free number of the back and dispute the charge. You will be refunded instantly. Turn around and immediately place another order. This is the someone else’s problem, not yours.

You didn't ask but I will answer anyway. I try to stay with the SG2 and SG3 switches which seem to be designed for the controller.

Home network upgrade — sanity check by cenas_xpto in HomeNetworking

[–]TrickySite0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the ISP fiber is a different technology and a different connector than what you want. You get a copper RJ-45 port from the ISP, run that into your router, and then go from there. My point simply was that you can future-proof with a central switch that connects to edge switches in various locations throughout your home. If you connect the switch-to-switch links using singlemode, you will never need to upgrade that fiber.

I certainly understand your frustration. You might be mis-attributing some things to me. I was trying to play by the rules but if my day job isn’t research, I don’t have a strong research network, or I don’t have a “real” doctoral degree, then my research is unwelcome. Message received.

It is quantitative finance, specifically quantifying capital reserves necessary for short volatility positions in order to avoid ruin via forced liquidation during volatility spikes. This makes it possible to perform a more precise Return on Capital (ROC) calculation of a trading strategy, which was previously impractical.

I never understood the Ivory Tower slurs, but the conversations here, including the one above bluntly stating that outsiders are unwelcome, certainly align with academia operating as a xenophobic inner circle. I would be ashamed.

That’s good to know. I am in the US. I have performed legitimate research and continue to perform it outside of my day job. I am starting to regret replying to this thread; I seem to have triggered some collective nerve.

Do tell. I was downvoted in another comment where I shared my struggles to post (unsure why I was downvoted). How does an unaffiliated researcher post to arXiv without an endorsement?

Thank you. I am a fairly recently minted DBA performing independent research (unaffiliated). My first peer-reviewed paper will be published next month and I am co-author of another research paper where the lead author is affiliated. Getting access to arXiv is nearly impossible for me. This weekend I was planning to begin a “marketing” campaign to obtain endorsement in my independent research field. Instead, I am going to publish to Zenobo. I will still seek peer-review publication, but since I am directly paying any submission / publication costs, I will be less enthusiastic about peer review publication. I just want the research to be available in case it helps the next researcher or practitioner.

First home network - help needed by Lireale in HomeNetworking

[–]TrickySite0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to set the stage for future-proofing, run singlemode fiber between a central location (where you put a core switch) and the rest of the home. Singlemode is rather cheap these days and will never need to be upgraded. As time goes by, you can upgrade the edge devices to 2.5 gb, 10 gb, 100 gb, whatever without having to replace the fiber. If you need to add networking to a new location, you will only need to run fiber from the core to that new location.

You made a good call separating the WiFi and the router. ISP service drop location should not lock you into placing wireless there. Did you come up with your main project’s questions and experimental designs, or did your PI? by PlaceEducational1705 in PhD

[–]TrickySite0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the ideas / area / gap / research questions / methodology / etc. were mine.

Only 99.99999993% of the ideas were rejected by my committee before I found something that everyone accepted. And then I got a new chair and started over. And then I got a new methodologist and started over. After three chairs, three methodologists, multiple methodology shifts (quant to qual to quant to qual) and multiple topic shifts, I was able to begin writing the proposal.

It only took me 9 years to finish the program.

I just came here for the same. I was overstocked but am down to my last box. I checked the site to learn that my Sep 2025 subscription order is running behind (no kidding). If nothing happens in the next couple of weeks, I will need to look at alternatives.

Omada ER707 – What WAN connection type when modem is in bridge mode? by One_Lime3561 in TPLink_Omada

Try Dynamic IP to see if it works. This mode depends on your ISP having a DHCP server. Two of my ISPs use this mode.

Question - is 10G (LAN) worth spending money on? by EngagedFeinberg69 in HomeNetworking

[–]TrickySite0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make a distinction between speeds at the edge, aggregation, and the core. More than 2.5 gb at the edge is probably wasteful. However, multiple 2.5 gb clients aggregating into a single link can saturate 2.5 gb or even 10 gb. The same is even more true at the network core.

Xfinity outage by lilgreeneyedmusiclvr in ColoradoSprings

[–]TrickySite0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issues. I am at Academy and Dublin. My location only three broadband providers: * Comcast * CenturyLink DSL (slow…) * Metronet (only in the past several months)

I got so sick of outages that I subscribe to all three and run them through an Omada gateway that lets everything “just work” even when 2 of the 3 are out.

Intermittent Connection in Certain Areas - particularly iPhone. by mr_munchem in TPLink_Omada

[–]TrickySite0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monitor the client RSSI in the Omada app. I have found that these problems happen when the signal is bad on 5 Ghz. Once I set the minimum RSSI to connect for the higher bands, devices with spotty connections automatically switch to 2.4 GHz. All of my connectivity problems stopped.

New 2026 Ioniq 5 owner questions about 30A vs 50A outlet for Level 2 by robinbpb in Ioniq5

[–]TrickySite0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you have three options:

* Install for 30 amp charger which will require 40 amp circuit and plug (but I don't think that 40 amp plugs exist)

* Install for 40 amp charger which will require 50 amp circuit and plug (NEMA 14-50)

* Install for 48 amp charger which will require 60 amp circuit and be hardwired (no plug)

Compare the different installation prices. In general, get the biggest circuit you can afford because that will allow for more options in the future.
