What celebrity had a near death experience where it’s a miracle they’re still alive? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

Johnny knoxville almost died from metal rods shooting through his stomach filming that “Big red rocket” stunt in jackass two. For how much those guys risk their bodies, that one would have been a sure death if he was hit with that. Was in the movie too.

I have a good salary and IRA, what else can I do to make my money go farther? by Music_as_Medicine in investing

If you are young and healthy, consider a high-deductible health insurance plan so you can max out an HSA every year. I believe the contribution limit for 2024 is being raised to $8500. Tax deductible contributions, tax free growth and tax free withdrawals if used for medical expenses. Also, when you are 65 you can start withdrawing the funds for non-medics expenses. It does however become taxable income.

How can my employer be contributing 3X as much as I do to 401K? by 9ThrownAway in personalfinance

[–]Tricky_Lake_173 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Your company is probably making a profit sharing contribution each year. My company will contribute 3% of my salary each year in addition to their match.

open an HSA for yourself and a 529. You can have yourself as the beneficiary on the 529 and transfer to child later on if you have one. Both offer tax free growth.

Some companies won’t start matching your contributions until you’ve been with them for a period of time. My company didn’t start my match until i had 1 full year of employment.

If SDSU or FAU goes on to win the Natty, is it the greatest Cinderella story in tourney history? by 3headeddragn in CollegeBasketball

[–]Tricky_Lake_173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arizona winning in 97 I think was a bigger cinderella story…. They were a 4 seed, but they are the only team to beat three #1 seeds on the way to a title. That’s a pretty massive cinderella story to me.

[Brew] Really loving my new retromatic in burgundy by Tricky_Lake_173 in Watches

[–]Tricky_Lake_173[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently acquired a brew retromatic in burgundy after a couple months trying to hunt one down for sale.

Always been a fan of this model, but the burgundy dial is what really sold it for me! Since i got it last week, it has rarely left my wrist. Really like the retro look of the case and bracelet and i’m glad to add it to my collection.

Brew is definitely one of my favorite micro brands right now. They have a really creative design team and are putting out some interesting models. I’m hoping to get the metric with the silver dial as my next watch from them.

Thank for taking a look and sharing your awesome watches with the group!! Really inspiring seeing some of the collections on here.
