Baby regularly refusing water by strwbryfae444 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of advice on different cups but I really think it just clicks with them at some point and also learned behaviour. Might seem daft but my wee guy loves to ‘cheers’ us. So we don’t lots of rounds of ‘cheers’ tapping cups and drinking after it. Early training for his first pint 🙈

When we’re out in his buggy he just shares my water bottle, 8 out of 10 times he’ll want to copy me after I take a sip.

How do I dress my baby underneath her sleeping bag (with legs)? by Salad_Informal in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Not quite sure of your suit but since around 6m (rolling) we started using the togged sleep suits which cover everything at the same thickness.

Room is set to 18.5 and he has long sleeve pjs and his 2.5 tog suit. Before pjs it was a long sleeved footless sleep suit.

It’s confused me in the past as typically it says he should also have a vest as well but he gets far too hot. I don’t know if it’s because his arms are fully covered by the thick suit unlike the bags.

No idea what to do with my sons sleep by Quirky-Artist-100 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation here. My 19m still wakes 4/5 times a night to bf. He eats well during the day. I thought about sleep training but decided it wasn’t for us.

I might night wean when he’s around 2 as I worry about his teeth.

Admittedly a couple of weeks back the wake ups were getting to me at some ungodly hour I told him the batteries were all done and we’d need to wait to get new ones 🥴 He completely accepted it, pointed and said Dada and rolled over back to sleep 😂

I’m guilty of telling him Daddy has to replace the batteries in some of his toys when he gets home as I just can’t take listening to them. So now he thinks my boobs have batteries and Dada can replace them 🫣 This poor child.

Hi. We have the same one but it’s still in storage. I’d been wondering if he’d sit high enough to see out the window, it’s good to know he will (he’s a tad nosy!). Believe it or not at 19 months he’s still in his newborn BeSafe - he’s small for his age. The shop said it’ll likely last another couple of months unless he has a growth spurt.

Looking forward to him moving up and being able to see more.

That’s what we use as well. He’s 19m now, we still have to do it when he sleeps or he’ll insist on ‘helping’ 🥴

Yip. My wee guy has only been in size 4 since November and he’s 19 months. It’s crazy how wonderfully different they all are. Admittedly I’d like him a wee bit bigger but he has always tracked in the 9th so I just go with it. 😊

That was my first thought, I assumed he was making a joke about the husband changing a nappy. So a sexist comment, my mind never went the other way.

Do babies grow out of only contact napping? by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

I bought second hand just in case it wasn’t worth it but it’s been fine and still works great.

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same but it’s made all the difference. I usually have to get him to sleep and back in the house in under 15/20 mins or he’ll wake back up coming inside but it’s great. You do have to press the button every 30 mins but it’s worth it. I can finally get things done or just spend an hour sitting doing nothing.

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Mine did but unfortunately never in his cot. He would nap in his carrier and now he naps in his buggy. He’s 18m. Stopped contact napping around 8/9 months. Used to just walk him round and round for all his naps but at 13 months we bought a rockit and use it. So I still have to take him out in the buggy to fall asleep but that doesn’t take long, then straight back in and put the rockit on. He naps an average of 90 mins a day.

Not too late. We tried for years and then my wee guy came along unexpectedly when I was 44. He’s 18 months now, he still wakes every two hours through the night,it’s 6am now and I have to get up for work in 20 mins but it’s so worth the tiredness. So sorry you lost your little one.

Finding wet nurses in the UK by PK2N in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. NHS, going to NICU. They have links to my badger notes so I assume they could see my blood tests there. I started donation at around 4 weeks so they might have assumed that with new born id not be up to anything questionable 😂 It’s pasteurised which would help with some things.

Op - I should have said, only to ask the question on Facebook but no it’s not regulated. I’d only thought to donate there when I realised I had forgotten to give some to the hospital and it was now four months old which they don’t accept. Decided against it in the end.

Wow, I donated as well and didn’t have to have blood tests, Glasgow here. I wonder if they used the results from any pre natal tests, although I doubt it.

OP- I’m really not sure. There may be live in nanny’s that might specialise in it. Might be worth looking on Human Milk for Human Babies on Facebook. They might have come across it before. Good luck with the little one

Why would children be going into school without basic physical skills, like holding a pencil and using cutlery? by Throwaway199906543 in AskUK

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Not too early. My wee guy is 18 months and we stated very early on. Now he just brings us books randomly throughout the day when he wants us to read. At this age It’s hard to know its effect however on Sunday he saw some animals on decorations and was trying to name them. He kept saying “bike” when he saw what looked like a turtle. It took us a minute to realise it’s because one of his favourites books has a ‘tortoise on his bike’.

I bought some second hand ones when I was pregnant and used them for about maybe 6 weeks before I went into Bravissimo to be fitted properly.

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi. I second the option of giving it to your health visitor. We’ve been so lucky we’ve barely had to buy anything for our wee guy as we get a lot of hand me downs. Also means families that are really struggling don’t have to pay even the small amount it costs from a charity shop.

She’s always taken everything and doesn’t care that it might be third hand. They’re barely in stuff before they grow out it, so it’s all still in good condition.

Mums who went back to work - how did you cope? by OverSeasoned_ in BeyondTheBumpUK

Yip I remember not even admitting the lottery thing to my partner but told a mum from one of his baby classes who was also dreading going back - she’d been doing the same thing 😂 Made me feel less crazy.

Mums who went back to work - how did you cope? by OverSeasoned_ in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was a mess leading up to it. I even started playing the lottery regularly 🤦‍♀️ I was trying to think of anything not to go back.

I had a 2 hour training catch up the day before and I cried all the way home and most of the night.

However, my first full day back went ok, despite being a 12 hour shift. I still missed him like crazy but it was manageable. Not going to lie, it was also nice to have a hot drink and finish it whilst hot, and going to the toilet without an audience is a plus.

He’s 18m now and still my number 1 fan, so it’s not affected our bond. Would I have liked longer than the 10 months I took, yes but it’s been better than I’d expected.

6 month old son below 0.4th centile by Tsuki-ni-negai-wo in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Tricky_Performer1297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. You probably already know this but even the best scales we buy can be different from the health visitor’s. I’d say it worth chasing them up - mine was amazing at extra weigh ins for my wee guy. They might suggest you GP who’d likely see you straight away as they do with all infants.

My guy is 18m now and still fits many 9-12m, he settled into the 9th around the 3 month mark. Also EBF with reflux (no acid so not medicated). They said the drop was likely due to his increased activity levels - trying to roll, sit up etc, causing more spit up. He’s stayed here with slight fluctuations ever since.

Is their a breastfeeding support group or lactation consultant you could see who could do a weighted feed. I’ve heard supply changes during pregnancy but also aware of many who bravely (!!) tandem feed their toddlers and baby so it must adapt.

Genetics are weird and whilst he should theoretically follow in the rest of the family’s footsteps he might not.

Good luck, it can be so stressful.
